2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (1 Viewer)

I'm not sure of his issue but he's been bad this year. Ron Darling was on the radio the other day and said he needs to correct a couple of flaws but wouldn't specify what they were so as to not tip off the opposition. Memo to Ron: I think they know the flaws!
Yep. I think a season ERA of 5.77 kind of means the opposition has figured something out.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Important stretch of games for the O's coming up, 16 straight games against the AL West, 10 on the road and 6 at home. 9 of those games are against the Angels and Mariners, fellow WC opponents. O's need to make hay in these games, much better than .500, and start putting some of these WC hopefuls in the rear-view mirror. -- Al

Enjoy it Carlos because seasons like this happen only once a generation. However, unless you win the World Series, it will just be a nice season; Mariner fans can tell you about that. They won 116 games but have nothing to show for it.

No one in their right minds wants to play the red hot Dodgers right now. The Nats still have 3 games against them in DC. Hopefully, the left-coasters will cool off a bit by the time they have to visit in mid-September. 44-7 is a VERY impressive run. -- Al

Yeah Brad:

Except one thing, the Dodgers aren't the Mariners!

So tell me again, why the Dodger fans should be cautious again?

Oh yeah, because they've sucked in past playoff series since 1988. Okay, I'll give you that...except one thing.

They have new ownership and new management with a different spirit. Oh yeah, great offense with the best pitching in baseball even before the Darvish trade.

Check them out, you know they play great baseball in the west too! There's more to baseball than the Red Sox and the Yankees, Right?

More to come too, they have one of the best farm systems in baseball too.

Can't believe there is only a scant mention about the Dodgers in this thread. That's okay, when the Dodgers win the WS, just change your discussion to "wait until next year" for your beloved Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs and yes, the beloved Mets. Don't forget to reminisce about past glory years too.

I like living in the present, GO DODGERS!

Carlos

Carlos,

I have watched them some. With the playoff system we have it's not that easy to win the WS. Best of luck to you because there will be some tough teams waiting for you. Don't forget the Nats have that Murphy fellow and we know what happened a couple of years ago :wink2:

A Murphy repeat of the 2015 playoffs in this year's playoffs would be most welcome in DC.:wink2: -- Al

I saw Don Baylor has passed away. He was a real beast back in his day. Interesting how many of these athletes pass away at a relatively young age. I guess the game takes a major toll on their health. Otherwise you might expect the most physically fit to live the longest.

He, unfortunately, had cancer of the plasma cells (multiple myeloma). He was a tough competitor. RIP.

Darren Daulton has also passed, from cancer at 55 y.o. Much too young, again. RIP. Don and Darren, two good ones. -- Al

Cancer is a terrible thing. A former boss, who was only around 60, died two weeks ago from pancreatic cancer.

No, there's not.

Nice rant though, you just totally put the jinx on them.

Never count your chickens when it comes to sports, just enjoy the ride.

No, the Dodgers aren't the Mariners because they haven't proven to be as good as the Mariners, yet. That Mariner team has one definite Hall of Famer (Ichiro) and a possible Hall of Famer (Edgar Martinez) and I haven't even mentioned John Olerud. They also had a 15, 17, 18 and 20 game winner.

Like George said enjoy the ride.

On the contrary, always brag about your team while you can. BTW, I have counted my chickens and so far they have 79 (wins).

Does any fan really believe they have the power to jinx an entire franchise?

Come on, enjoy it while you can; don't be so tense.

Heck I enjoyed the success of the Red Sox in 1967, 1975 and 1986. Wish they didn't lose then but later they made up for it.

I will say, I never enjoyed the Yankees and probably never will. You might say its jealousy and you might be right. However, is there really a better team to hate then the Yankees!

GO DODGERS!

Being a life long Red Sox fan and a life long Patriots fan, prior to 2004 and 2001 respectively, I never had anything much to brag about concerning either franchise and despite both of their success since, I don't like to brag as it's a reverse lock if ever there was one.

As far as the Dodgers; they are cooking with gas right now, just hope they don't peak too early as baseball is a funny game.

I still can't wrap my head around how the 1988 Dodgers beat the Mets in the AL playoffs, let alone the A's in the world series.

Sometimes you are good, sometimes you are lucky, but it's better to be lucky than good.............................

I don't think the Dodgers get mentioned much on this thread because there aren't any Dodger's fans on it. However, it is always nice to get more people in the discussion, especially those that are fans of other teams.

What???...no love for the O's??{eek3}{eek3} ''O'' well, we're still hanging tough somehow.

I'll be staying up tonight to watch the Os vs the Angels. Fear not Al and Sammy; if the Os fall behind by 5 runs, you can count on the Angels pen handing it back. This happened yesterday and, yes, two weeks ago.

Be watching, too, Brad. Want to see if the O's can reach .500 for the first time since June 29th. The SP for tonight's game are very evenly matched so I'm looking forward to a good game. -- Al
