2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (1 Viewer)

I'll be staying up tonight to watch the Os vs the Angels. Fear not Al and Sammy; if the Os fall behind by 5 runs, you can count on the Angels pen handing it back. This happened yesterday and, yes, two weeks ago.

Staying up??? it's not even 7 P.M. yet ^&grin^&grin

Every team makes bad moves. I'm sure the Cubs would have liked to redo the Lou Brock trade and who can forget the Mets trading Nolan Ryan.

However, they made two seriously poor moves in two years by letting Turner and Murphy go. That's not a good track record.

I also heard Syndergaard was in the Game of Thrones last night. On the day that your team was swept by the Dodgers, those are not good optics.

Being a life long Red Sox fan and a life long Patriots fan, prior to 2004 and 2001 respectively, I never had anything much to brag about concerning either franchise and despite both of their success since, I don't like to brag as it's a reverse lock if ever there was one.

As far as the Dodgers; they are cooking with gas right now, just hope they don't peak too early as baseball is a funny game.

I still can't wrap my head around how the 1988 Dodgers beat the Mets in the AL playoffs, let alone the A's in the world series.

Sometimes you are good, sometimes you are lucky, but it's better to be lucky than good.............................

Yeah, 1988 Dodgers were a wonderful fluke...even the 1969 Mets were better.

This 1988 team must have been the worse Dodger team, excuse me, the worse team to ever win the WS.

Even I'm honest about that one...Maybe it was payback for all of those wonderful Brooklyn Dodger teams that lost to Yankees in the 1940's and 50's.

Yeah, I'll continue to brag on the Dodgers. It's kind of out of character for me, but what the heck, it's kind of fun to do for a change.

I reiterate, no way I have the power to jinx's a major league team. If I did, I'd start with jinxing the Giants (no need for that this year) and finish with the Yankees.

Oh, did mention that I hate the Yankees?

Be watching, too, Brad. Want to see if the O's can reach .500 for the first time since June 29th. The SP for tonight's game are very evenly matched so I'm looking forward to a good game. -- Al
Thanks to Mr. Machado, the O's are now at .500, Bundy pitched a very solid game, and the O's are now only 1.5 games back in the WC. A good night overall for the O's. -- Al

It was a good night for the Nats too. I think any night that reflects their bullpen/closer progress is a good night for them.

Great news, thanks for sharing right before breakfast.............looks like I just lost my appetite.

The LET'S GO O'S!!, also known as the Jason Voorhees of MLB, dead and buried three weeks ago, now they're right in the thick of the wild card hunt.

Hey, maybe they'll really get hot and win the division now, what the Hell, they're only a measly 7 games out........................

We don't need to send the cleanup detail over there, do we? ^&grin

LET'S GO SAWX!

(I have to root for somebody good!)

Jason, thanks to the bullpen repair job with the 3 new guys, I no longer have to eat Xanax like Skittles during the Nats games. They won't be perfect, but they sure are better than what we had. Harper became the 14th player in MLB history to hit his 150th career Hr before the age of 25 last night. Yes, a good night overall. -- Al

George, didn't mean to ruin breakfast. Don't believe the O's are going to threaten the Sox march to the Division title, but it is fun to see them rise up out of the coffin and get back in the race. Still, the O's have no margin for error and must stay hot and continue their recent streak of good starting pitching or all we O's fans are just whistling past the graveyard.:wink2: -- Al

Tough call on Cain, as with Tillman. Cain is a lifelong Giant (13 years), and starter, having started 328 times in 336 games, so a shift won't be easy. Cain was effective for the first 8 years of his career, going 85-78, through 2012. He seems to have just fallen of a cliff since then though, going 19-38, with an ERA approaching 4.75, over the last 5 seasons. The Giants have been really patient with him, I guess because of the injuries. Don't think they can afford any longer, just like the O's with Tillman. Another rather tough decision due on a vet who has only played for one team and is part of their WS legacy. -- Al

Cain pitched a couple of innings in relief last night. He was actually decent, but it does seem strange to see him running in from the bullpen in the middle of a game. His days are clearly numbered with the Giants, but I won't soon forget him and his contributions to the Giants' recent World Series runs.

A little bit of baseball payback involved in the losses by the Nats and O's last night. Nats lost to Vance Worley for the 2nd time in the last couple of weeks. He was cut by the Nats in the spring after being released by the O's (another ex-O's pitcher makes good elsewhere). The O's lost to the Angel's Birdwell, yet another ex-O's pitcher dealt away. I guess the lesson here is sign pitchers cut by the O's as they seem to flourish elsewhere. The O's evidently don't need so much pitching.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I must be the lucky charm for the opposition. I'm at Citifield today and the Mets are on their way to losing the third out of four games I've seen this year. Moreover, it's hot as blazes. I had to move to a shady seat.

Well, that was a complete waste of time, as poor as I've ever seen a game in person. The players acted as if they didn't want to be there. In a way I can't blame them; it was so hot that my phone shut down.

At least the Angels won today. They're only 2 GB in the loss column.

Bruce is going back to Ohio, to the Indians. Wonder if Mets will try to resign him in the offseason.

The Red Sox beat the Doofin Rays, winning their 8th in a row..................it's on to the nouveau toilet in New York to play Quasimodo and the MFYs; if they can hold him to 16 home runs over the three games, they might have a shot at winning the series....................we'll see.

Costly losses the last 2 nights by the O's. They are still only 2.5 games back in the WC but the number of teams they have to get past has increased to 5. There are 48 games left and the O's have to go 30-18 to reach the 86 win mark, probably the minimum needed to make the WC. It's a tough road and it means they have to get hot and stay hot. Winning 2 out of every 3 ain't gonna be easy for a team that is currently under .500. They are making it hard on themselves. -- Al

His avg is below 300 and he's only hit 5 HRs since the break. Pitchers talk and they've figured out ways to get him out. He now has to figure out how to make adjustments.
