2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (1 Viewer)

We got one more game than I thought we would. I don't think the Washington 3B coach should have sent the runner but there it is. Obviously this isn't the Nats team from earlier this year or the one we will see in October.
Yep, the two teams filled with new faces split some very close games. In yesterday's games, the Nats managed to start 3 regulars in game 1 and 2 in game 2. I sure hope we can empty the hospital ward before the playoffs start. :rolleyes2: -- Al

I was going to post something about the O's - Red Sox series this morning, but I can't top this. :smile2: Chris

I aim to please.................I think my work here is better when my teams lose than when they win...................:wink2:

It was a pretty entertaining series. There was some hitting, some decent but also spotty relief pitching and two good starting performances from deGrom and Gio Gonzalez and three of the four games were close, with the losing team making it interesting in the 9th.

Of the Mets new or seldom used players who are getting a chance now, only Rosario is guaranteed a spot next year. Smith doesn't impress me yet at 1B. In the outfield, Céspedes and Conforto are guaranteed spots so Lagares and Nimmo may be playing only for the 4th outfielder spot since they will probably go outside the organization for the third outfielder.

Nats lead Miami 10-1 going to the bottom of 7. It is the 20th time this season that the Nats have scored 10 or more runs in a game. Scherzer, fresh off the DL, has 10 k's, the 14th time this year that he has reached that mark in a game. Got Jason Werth back, as well, after missing about 80 games, and he has hit a Hr. Not a bad night for the Nats. -- Al

Another big win for the O's tonight, beating Seattle 7-6. They move past Seattle in the WC race, leaving only 2 teams to pass for that last spot. -- Al

I'm surprised the Os are still in it but just proves what I've said about teams being up, then down and vice versa. This week it's the Orioles' turn, next week, who knows?

Tis the ultimate baseball rollercoaster.^&grin -- Al

The Yankees have sat Judge down. His first half season numbers can't obscure his second half numbers .179, slugging percentage of .580 (a drop of 100 points), 7 HR and 16 RBI. His second half numbers are a mirror image of his numbers from the last two months of 2016. It appears that his first half numbers were a mirage.

Royals sure have picked the wrong time to go scoreless. Been shutout 4 games in a row and their scoreless streak has reached 43 innings. Been a while since a team has been this futile. -- Al

Tighten up those bolts in his neck and he'll be good as new.

Yet another huge win by the O's tonight. A brilliant pitching job by Bundy, a CG, 1-hit shutout with 12 K's, easily the best pitching job by the O's this year. It was a thing of sheer beauty. Best pitched game I've seen this season. O's had 4 solo Hr's, including #29 and 30 by Machado, who must be in the MVP conversation if he can drag the O's to the WC. -- Al

The dumbest thing these sports apparel companies do is when they put names on the back of home jerseys that does not represent an actual jersey. The MFY's and Red Sox do not put names on home jerseys, so why do the apparel companies sell them, just moronic.......................

He pinch hit today.

And struck out.

The talking heads on MLB network still think he's a shoe in for ROY honors; so when did they start giving that award out for a very good first half of the season?

Since the ASB, he stinks on ice to quote Louis........................

He probably is a shoo in for ROY because of his first half numbers. If I were the Yankees, I'd send him down for a couple of weeks, to see if they can get him sorted out.

Despite another typically bad start from uBADo, who put the O's in a 6-2 hole after 3, the O's came back to sweep the Mariners with a 8-7 win. Terrific series by the O's just when they needed it. They have now won 7 in a row. -- Al

Well the problem there is the AAA season short of the playoffs ends this coming weekend, which is why the MLB rosters expand to 40 on September 1st.

That's just swell news, the LET'S GO O'S!! are getting hot going into September.

Has there ever been an MLB team that wins more 11-10, 9-8, 7-6 games than this team?

Imagine if they had a top of the rotation ace on that staff.

Wouldn't want to play them in an elimination game; final score, 27-26 Orioles.

And to top it off, the MFY's lost the first game of a double header to the Indians 2-1 and are trailing in game 2 5-1; if they go on to lose, the LET'S GO O'S!! will be 2.5 behind them, 3 in the loss column.

Unbelievable.

Nats finished a 3-game sweep of the Marlins with a 4-0 win. Strasburg went the distance in a 6-hit shutout effort and provided his own winning run with a lead-off Hr in the 5th inning of a 0-0 game. Nats pitchers handled Stanton pretty well as he was 1-10 in the series, although the hit was a Hr. -- Al
