2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (3 Viewers)

Unfortunately something has to give in the AL Wildcard race. On a positive note just about everyone who is a regular poster on this thread has a team that is still alive, Al (Nats and O's), George (Red Sox), Louis (Yankees), Sammy (O's), Brad (Angels) and Carlos (Dodgers).

If someone had told me at the start of the season that myself and the Giants would not be on that list I would not have believed it. Oh well, plenty of teams to still cheer for and most of you rode with me over the years as your teams fell and the Giants continued on. It is my time to repay that support.

Plenty room on the O's bandwagon Jason!!!! even though the wagon ride might be short lived.:):(

Angels have followed up a good road trip by losing 2 out of 3 at home and if tonight's score holds up, three out of four.

Hard to believe but Mets season got worse; Conforto dislocated his shoulder on a swing. He's likely done for the year.

Yankees and Tigers played a wild one, with numerous fights and benches clearing. The Yankees appear to be the victim here, both from an instigation point of view and the impact on their Wild Card position as several players will face suspension, including both catchers and Betances. The Tigers will also receive suspensions but who cares? They're going nowhere. Cabrera is a gutless punk.

I saw bits and pieces of the Tigers/MFY's game; Betances drilled a player right in the head, he should be gone for the year for that crap.

In the Red Sox/Indians game the other night, Kluber drilled Nunez because on the previous pitch he swung hard and lost his balance, the broadcasters said that's baseball code.

What?

You drill a guy for swinging hard; that boneheaded act put runners on first and second, the next batter got a hit and the run scored.

Just about as stupid as it gets...................

The band-wagon is a bit wobbly but still on the road. Had the O's not won the series against the A's, again thanks to Mr. 'Home Run' Machado, I was ready to pronounce the O's DOA. Somehow, the season continues for Buck and the boys. -- Al

I'm not sure Betances drilled him intentionally, particularly in a tie game, but considering the totality of the circumstances it merits suspicion.

The second WC appears as jumbled as ever. The seven teams competing for the second WC are within 3 games of each other. Week to week, one or two teams are up, then one or two are down. September will be very interesting, to say the least.

The great Sandy Koufax would not throw at batters for fear of hurting them due to the velocity of his pitches.

How is that for an unwritten rule? Do not throw a 98 MPH projectile at someone because you can hurt them, especially if you are doing it because you got your "feelings" hurt.

Koufax was one of a kind. Then there was his teammate, Don Drysdale, who felt the plate was his and would just as soon stick the ball in the batter's ear as to say 'hello'. Both were highly effective pitchers, Koufax because of his speed and control, Drysdale because the batter knew a beanball was part of the arsenal. Interesting that the two were so opposite of each other. -- Al

I like the uniforms the players are wearing tonight, not traditional but very neat. Watching the Mets Nats game and I think both teams' jerseys are neat. Took a look at the Yankee game and like those too. The Os jerseys seem boring but like the Red Sox ones.

Glad to see Howie Kendrick on the Nats. One of my favorite players on the Angels. I don't recognize a lot of the players on the Nats.

Brad, injuries have made for a creative line-up for the last several games. Tonight's line-up has one regular in it, Murphy. Zimmerman and Rendon were given the night off, all the rest are bench or call-ups. The offensive results have been pretty spotty for the last several games because of the many new faces. Kendrick has been a great pick-up for the Nats. deGrom has looked good tonight. -- Al

It's a freaking miracle they won this game. My wife was yelling me to shut up! That's probably our only win this weekend but at this point I will take anything.

Al, I can certainly sympathize; we know all about creative lineups.

Great weekend in Boston for the O's. Never saw an O's sweep coming. Puts them back at .500 and right in the middle of the WC race. A huge sweep for them. Another big series as Seattle comes to town next. The O's are kind of like a vampire, very tough to kill, and they keep coming back from the dead. -- Al

Mets took a close game from the Nats today, 6-5. Dusty made a strategic error by trusting the game to the Right-handed Gopher Ball Twins out of the bullpen. The GBT's, Blanton and Kelley, have been terrible all year. If one doesn't give up a 4-bagger, the other will. Between them they have pitched 58 innings and between them they have given up 21 Hrs, split evenly, 11 by one 10 by the other. They have a combined ERA of about 7.11. Question is, why are they still pitching on a team with a newly revamped and effective pen? They should have been cut long ago. As for today's game, Kelley went one inning and did well, but Blanton followed and gave up the inevitable game-winning Hr to the Mets. Good job, guys.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Yeah well gee, what do you expect to happen when you face lights out pitching like Hellickson, Gascan and Miley Cyrus, the 1971 Orioles had nothing on these three.

Five runs scored off of those three stiffs in three games.

6-10 vs the LET'S GO O'S!! so far this year.

6-10.

Absolutely infuriating.

They should burn those hideous uniforms too, just about the most God awful thing I've ever seen.

And I love the way smart *** Buck refers to Fenway as "America's most beloved ballpark" everytime he comes here, you can taste the snark in his voice.

This **** sandwich on top of finding out Edelman is out for the year with a torn ACL too.

What a wonderful sports weekend for me...........................

Gascan and Miley Cyrus...you kill me. But I agree. I am shocked that the series went like it did. Sorry about Edelman, that sucks, but it is just the start of the annual parade to the hospital for the NFL. -- Al

Thanks Al; losing Edelman is a major, major blow, best slot receiver in football, Brady's go to guy on third down.

They should sit starters for all 4 preseason games, it's a joke and a farce, I read the starting middle linebacker for the Cowboys might be done for the year also with a knee injury.

Just ridiculous.

George you always make me laugh whether you are winning or losing!!!!^&grin^&grin yup,'71 O's got nothing on my Orioles starters these days!!!!!!!!! anyway, just glad to see my birds holding their own this weekend against a quality team, still holding at 2 out of the WC chase..crazy game that's for sure.

We got one more game than I thought we would. I don't think the Washington 3B coach should have sent the runner but there it is. Obviously this isn't the Nats team from earlier this year or the one we will see in October.

I was going to post something about the O's - Red Sox series this morning, but I can't top this. :smile2: Chris
