2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two! (1 Viewer)

That's just swell news, the LET'S GO O'S!! are getting hot going into September.

Has there ever been an MLB team that wins more 11-10, 9-8, 7-6 games than this team?

Imagine if they had a top of the rotation ace on that staff.

Wouldn't want to play them in an elimination game; final score, 27-26 Orioles.

And to top it off, the MFY's lost the first game of a double header to the Indians 2-1 and are trailing in game 2 5-1; if they go on to lose, the LET'S GO O'S!! will be 2.5 behind them, 3 in the loss column.

Unbelievable.
Just hoping the O's aren't like a light bulb, burning really brightly before burning out. Look out, Yankees, da Birds is coming on. ^&grin -- Al

Class moves by the Devil Rays as they are "hosting" the Astros/Rangers due to the flooding in Houston. They made sure they had walk up music for all of the players and for the 7th inning stretch they played Deep in the Heart of Texas.

The Nats are finally getting their injured starters back as over the last 3 games they've gotten Werth, Scherzer, and Turner back. No word on Harper yet. Nats SP is doing well as 4 of their 5 SP's now have ERA's under 3, (2.21, 2.40, 2.90, and 2.94) and the bullpen is functioning much better since the additions of Doolittle, Kintzler, and Madson. Be glad to see Harper return, though, as he still the main cog in the offense. -- Al

I mentioned in this thread months ago that there is something special about playing baseball in September and being in the hunt!!!! As the season starts and rolls through all the ups and downs from April, May, June, July, August you just hope your team can be there come September, my Orioles have had more then their share of ups/downs this season that I care to think about....but......here we are rolling on into September and still in the hunt with 29 games to go, got to love it!!! just for George.. LET'S GO O'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^&grin^&grin

Fixed it for you!

And the Angels won. Albert hit two bombs to move into 7th place all time but the game was won by Pennington, hitting a grand slam in the 8th.

Yankees are in danger of falling back into the WC pack.

With September around the corner, hearts will start to race and anxiety increase. As the late great Bob Murphy used to say "fasten your seatbelt!"

Love it...every evening now becomes a scoreboard check from around the league to see who won or lost!!! and when it's this many teams it gets a little confusing at times but man is it fun!! :):):)

There is a rather incredible article on the ESPN web page stating that Pujols, by whatever numbers these wizards use, is currently the worst player in all of MLB. An incredible claim that the writer backs up with many different numbers but that kind of befuddle me. I guess I'm too old school to accept all these new numbers and stats that seem to totally disregard such standard numbers as BA, Hrs, RBI's and other such numbers that I grew up using as the gauge to a players value. The article did not convince me that Pujols is the worst and, while Pujols is certainly not the same as he was 5 or so years ago, he certainly is worth quite a bit to a team struggling to make the playoffs. I just don't understand these 'new' numbers and ways of judging a players value. -- Al

He has 21 HR and 83 RBIs, which seems pretty darn good to me, but he's basically boom or bust as his average is 232. Frankly, I think he should retire soon so he doesn't tarnish his reputation.

The Red Sox and MFY's play a four game series at the neveaux toilet, then the MFY's go to Baltimore to play the LET'S GO O'S!!, they are in serious danger of getting knocked off the top of the wild card heap.

I looked at the LET'S GO O'S!! schedule the rest of the way out; it's a true march of the tomato cans, I see them going around 20-10 the rest of the way.

After burping and farting their way through 130 or so games, they are lined up now for a WC spot.

Oh Joy.

Watch the Red Sox catch the Astros and then end up playing Baltimore in the first round; I'll have Best Buy on speed dial ready to go with a new flat screen TV, a new phone and a new laptop along with any other electronic gadgets that will end up getting smashed on this end..........................

'Burping and farting their way through 130 or so games...', priceless and oh so true. With a disaster of a starting rotation, there is no way the O's should have been able to hang around, but no one else proved capable of running away with it and so here we are. These last 30 games are going to be a hoot. -- Al

To put a finer point on the Nats bullpen improvement: prior to July 31 the bullpen ERA was 5.07, with 25 saves and 11 blown saves and had lost 6 games when leading after 8 innings. Also yielded an average of 1.5 Hr's per 9 innings pitched. Since July 31, the bullpen ERA is 3.75, with 11 saves and 1 blown save, and 0 losses when leading after 8. Yielded Hr's are down to 0.86 per 9 innings. A huge overall improvement but a pen still vulnerable when Doolittle, Kintzler, and Madson are not available. -- Al

Angels have acquired Justin Upton from the Tigers and traded Cameron Maybin to the Astros.
