2018 Baseball season (1 Viewer)

Isn’t a nationwide poll a bit ridiculous? I’d bet +95% of fans vote for their home team announcers because that’s all they know. I mean who listens, to any degree, broadcasting teams from other cities? Thus, the voting will naturally steer towards the big population centers.

I listen to the A's, Astros, Giants, and Ranger broadcasts on a consistent basis. Among those four I would rank the Astros first, the Giants second, the A's third and the Rangers fourth.

Interesting and puts you among the rare 5% with exposure to multiple cities. But there are 26 other team broadcasts to which you dont listen. You may well have the relative ranks of these 4 correct, but as there are 30 total teams, its an incomplete ranking.

Cano suspended 80 games for PED's, or a masking agent to hide the use of PED's.

You can take the man out of New York, but you can take the steroids out of the man..................

Yeah, cause only Yankees players took steroids . . . :rolleyes2:

An idiot. They never learn.

Make it zero tolerance with a ban for life and maybe the idiots will learn. Between steroids and the shift, the game has become strike out six times, walk 3 times, then hit one out. Mark my words, good pitchers will throw a lot of no hitters with all the position player swinging for the fences every at bat. The game is becoming tough to watch.

I thought it was interesting that among those 4 I did not pick my home team (San Francisco) 1st. I really like John Miller but the Astros' announcers seem to be more well-rounded.

It's ok to admit your team was loaded with cheaters Louis; besides, look at all the WS titles you've won in the past 17 years...............wait, one?

Whoops.

And for the record; they all cheat, any grown man who thinks his sports heroes are clean is kidding himself.

Not even a lifetime ban scares them. There was that idiot on the Mets a couple of years who was suspended, came back and then did it again. Now he’s banned for life although I think he can ask for reinstatement after two years.

I don’t believe they teach small ball anymore. The 2015 Royals were an anomaly. It’s just the way the game is right now. When it’s 0-2, they’re swinging like it’s 3-0. The words “shorten your swing” are treated like curse words.

When millions of dollars are at stake, they'll do what they have to do to get an edge.

And the shift has completely ruined baseball; how many rockets to you see hit up the middle that are labeled for center field only to be scooped up by a shortstop playing behind second base.

Thanks a lot Maddon you stooge..........................

After losing 6 out of 7 to the Phllies and Pirates the Giants now have a modest 3 game winning streak. They just need to keep playing the Reds in order to keep that streak going.

^&grin

Reds are 6-4 do they’re playing better. Harvey is pitching tonight and he pitched pretty well against the Dodgers.

Brad:

You are right, the Reds beat the Giants today behind some good pitching from Harvey.

Jason,

I missed the game (though it was tonight) but his pitching line wasn’t pretty: 4 IP, 7 hits, 3 runs and 1 HR. Seemed like the same old Harvey to me.

It was good enough to beat the Giants, which might not be saying much, lol.

I was only able to listen to the second half of the game (Harvey had been pulled by then) and John Miller described Harvey's performance as "halfway decent".

All of MLB is loaded with cheaters. On the drug test back in 2000 more than 40% of the 1200 major league players tested were positive for PED's. Bonds, Sosa, the Bash Brothers on the Oakland A's, Ryan Braun (twice), Manny Ramirez (3 times), David Ortiz, that idiot closer on the Mets (twice in 2 seasons), Melky Cabrera on the Giants, the list goes on and on. Frankly, since the 1990's, every sacred record in MLB, and I'm sure the outcome of just about every World Series, were tainted by PED's. PED abuse in MLB is and has been disgraceful, but acting like PED abuse is a Yankee invention or monopoly is just plain ignorant.

Justin Verlander is pitching some remarkable baseball since coming over to Houston last season. Over the 2 seasons, he has started 15 games for Houston, going 10-2 with a 1.05 ERA. He has allowed only 52 hits in his 103 innings, while fanning 127, leaving him with a strikeout to walk ratio of 6.68 to 1. Verlander has given up 12 earned runs in Houston, and has given up 8 Hrs, so even if someone gets on base, they aren't scoring. Not to bad for a 35 year old. -- Al

I watched the last part of the game last night. Until he ran into a little trouble in the 9th, he was averaging less than 12 pitches an inning, which is very good; he finished with 13. 15 or less is considered optimal.

I never said it's a MFY invention or monopoly; what I said was your team has had more players busted than any other team.

Reading comprehension is your friend Louis.

Your team did not invent the use of PED's, but they sure as **** perfected it.

How many washed up tomato cans landed in the Bronx and suddenly were hitting moon shots to right at Williamsport east?

Keep whistling past the graveyard, it's ok.

even though Houston has a plus 94 differential on runs scored...
the highest in MLB...
their scoring has been feast or famine...
red hot or ice cold...
losing a lot of close games...
the bullpen has not produced on occasion...

Verlander had a heart breaker against the Yankees a few weeks ago...
pitching 8 inning with a scoreless amazing 14 strike out performance...
then pulled in the ninth for Giles who promptly gave up 4 runs...
Astros couldn't even score 1 run for Verlander that game...

he has been a fantastic addition...

his 5 hit shut out of the Angels last night was fun to watch...

plus..
his wife is a total hottie and got a lot of camera time last night...^&grin
