2018 Baseball season (3 Viewers)

Sammy, this is getting ridiculous. The O's have Bundy going against a bad KC team tonight, the Royals are 6 batters into the game and lead 4-0! Bundy allowed a lead-off single, then back-to-back-to-back Hr's, and then 2 walks. Bundy is 27 pitches in with no outs recorded yet. What is going on? What has happened to Bundy? OMG! As I write this, Bundy just gave up his 4th Hr of the game, a 3-run bomb. It is now 7-0 and Bundy is gone after 28 pitches, 7 earned runs, and NO recorded outs! This is pitiful.:mad::mad: -- Al
P.S. - I'm going to assume that Bundy must be hurt and not saying anything, after the disaster of his last 3 starts.:rolleyes2:

At this point, you have to blow it up and start over. Make some good trades, get some good prospects in return and start over.

They had a short window to win a WS and it didn't happen, it's time to move on.

At this point, it doesn't really matter, the MFY's are positioned to win 10 WS in a row with the talent they have on their roster and the loaded farm system they have.

The Red Sox start the season 17-2, their best start ever, and the Yankees respond by winning 16 or 17 for the first time since 1953, to draw dead even at 25-10, tied for the best record in baseball. This should be one incredible season for George and I. I don’t think either of us would be satisfied with anything less that a Yankees Red Sox ALCS.

It's like no one else really matters at this point. The only games either team seems likely to lose are the games against each other. The only threats to the NY/Boston juggernauts would seem to be in the AL West. Should be a great season for you guys. -- Al

Yup, the Gashouse Gorillas won last night 3-2 thanks to Mongo hitting two home runs, one was a lazer to left that would have hit the wall at Fenway and been a long single, the other a pop up to right that would have been an out at Fenway.

After a historic start, the Red Sox are now tied.

That's all sorts of awesome.

I can't see anyway the Red Sox can hang with the Gashouse Gorrillas, they are absolutely loaded 1-9, better than those mid 90's teams that won all those WS titles.

Costanza will deal away some of his blue chip prospects down on the farm come trade deadline and grab the best starting pitcher available and best reliever available and they'll run away with the division, steamroll through the playoffs and win WS title #28, then Spike Lee will have to buy a new hat.

As I've said before, look for a ten year run where they win another 5 or 6 WS titles, it's coming, I'm ok with it, it is what it is, it's the MFY's doing what they've been doing since they bought Babe Ruth................................................

Don't forget you guys have to play the O's!!! ^&grin{sm2}^&grin....so tired of seeing and hearing the players just walk through another loss, then to sit through an exciting Buck Sho. interview..."we'll, get back at it tommmorow, or the team is just pushing a little to much" Ha!!!!!! Somebody get tossed, break the dugout phone with a bat, show some type of emotion please!!! Anyhoo back to the 2 team A.L. East, can not pull for the evil Yanks so sweet Caroline it is!!!!

Just a little note about the O's disaster last night, who gave up 10 runs in the first inning and eventually lost 15-7. Bundy, the O's SP, gave up 4 Hr's without recording an out in the 1st inning, before being removed. This is the only time that has ever happened in the modern era, going back to 1900. So, history! :rolleyes2: -- Al

One flaw in your scenario; one of the two teams gets to play in the one game gimmick game, so you could have a team with 99 wins as a wild card playing a tomato can wild card team with 85 wins, the winner of that game gets the top remaining team, which in all likelihood will be the Gashouse Gorillas, so you could end up with the MFY's and the RS playing in the divisional round, not the ALCS.

Tell me that format is not idiotic.

You are correct, the system is flawed. There used to be a rule that the Wild Card Team could not play its own Division winner in the ALDS, which they abandoned when they added the second wildcard team. But whether they play in the ALDS or the ALCS, another Yankees/Red Sox playoff series would be epic. Stop worrying about the injustice of it all, and just enjoy two tremendous teams fighting it out all season.

That is correct, the way it is set up now is the wild card winner plays the top seed regardless of divisions. We'll see how the season plays out. Price has arm issues again, plus the Red Sox middle relief is a tire fire, once you get the starter out of the game, you hope the middle relief can be the bridge to the closer, who is pretty much lights out.

Since their 17-2 start, the Red Sox are 8-8, not to mention you've got three pretty good teams in the West, so it's no guarantee the second place team in the East will make it.

Right now I'd go with MFY's/Indians/Astros/Angels/Red Sox, with the MFY's and Astros meeting again in the ALCS, but there is still a long way to go...................

It’s next to impossible to watch the Mets. I changed the channel last night to watch the Yankee game. Offensively, they’re a mess and the pitching is sputtering. Vargas is awful. They just lost a series to a team that had only won 8 teams but in all honesty I can’t say that they are a better team than the Reds and they’re on a par with the Orioles, no offense intended to Al and Sammy.

No offense taken. The O's are just horrible. Thought the Mets would be alright as long as the SP performed as was hoped but things have fallen off. They need to find some help for Thor, deGrom, and Matz, though Wheeler looked good today. -- Al

Bundy must be hurt. After giving up only 5 total earned runs in his first 5 starts over 32 innings, he has collapsed over his last 3 starts, giving up 23 hits and 19 earned runs over 9 innings. Something is obviously wrong. -- Al

Al:

He got shelled but handled the post-game press conference like a pro. I can't imagine having that kind of day at work and then having to explain myself to a group of strangers who have never-ending questions about it.

deGrom has been hurt, Thor inconsistent, Matz not great but improving and the same for Wheeler. The starters’ inability to go deep into games has taken its toll on the pen which can’t seem to get the job done.

They have no catcher, the 1B is past his prime and should be cut, the SS Rosario is undisciplined at the plate, Céspedes is not 100% and Conforto needs to go back to the minors.

This is what happens when you shop at the bargain bin. I wish they could get rid of the ownership.

The Mets lost in extras vs the Reds today in front of 9 fans, they managed to do something I've never seen in a MLB game; they batted out of order.

That's crazy yo.

It happens from time to time, the last time being a game in 2016 between the Brewers and the Nationals. Oddly enough, this happened in another Mets Reds game, in 2008, but this time the Reds made the mistake. In looking back at these games, the Reds have been involved in quite a few of them.

Well the Red Sox division lead didn't last until Mother's Day this year, they're a game out thanks to some no name tomato can #8 hitter leading off with a double followed by walking the #9 hitter, then my favorite MFY, that coconut head Gardner, who was hitting a robust .210 so far rips a bases clearing triple in the 8th inning, followed by a two run blast by Quasimodo, then the wife beater came in and closed it out, Red Sox lose 9-6. He was sweating last night like he was in court being told he had to an anger management class.

If the middle of the line up doesn't kill you, the top and the bottom will.

Sherman Klump with his crooked hat and baggy pants will be lights out tonight to complete the sweep, oh joy.

Time to turn my attention to the NBA ECF, Celtics/The Lebrons for a week or so, then the NBA finals where the Dubs will demolish the Lebrons, then Summer and all that that entails, followed by NFL camp in July.

Adios MLB..............................have fun rooting for Microsoft this year Louis, can't wait til next year when your little train that could team replaces Gardner with Harper and signs Machado to play third and goes 162-0.................................

If the Nats could figure out a way to win a 1-run game they would be in a lot better shape. They are only 3-9 in such games, not a good sign for a team with post-season aims. It's that bleepin' bullpen. Certain pitchers just can't get it done and this will have to be addressed. Far too many baserunners being allowed in close games, thus a 3-9 record. -- Al

Found this on a MLB forum; couldn't agree more;

"Imagine being a fan of the Yankees and having to constantly listen to those embarrassing blowhards in the YES studios soiling themselves like they won the lottery for every play.

Do you know why that is? Because those blowhards feel bad because the RS have been winning more than they have since that wonderful season of 2004. Theyre scared, its OK, its normal. The RS are the ones with 3 WS trophies in the cabinet in the past 14 seasons, must have stung to see us start so hot despite several flaws. Lap it up YES network, time to get giddy, you never know, maybe you will be able to win it all AT LAST. It feels like ages doesnt it, coming up to a decade with all your TRUE YANKEE character (and payroll), who knows, maybe you'll win the division this year? Way to go, lap it up."

I want that on a tee shirt.
