The local O's/Nats baseball talk show is more or less confirming that Machado will be traded to the Dodgers an will be announced tomorrow. Bummer. -- Al

I love how it was PHILLIES!, PHILLIES!, PHILLIES! and it ends up Dodgers...……………..priceless.

Color me shocked. Watched the All-Star game and actually found it entertaining, a good game. Now awaiting the trade news... -- Al

I watched some of it...reminded me of the home run derby...^&grin...lots of long balls...
glad to see the Astro's contributed with Morton getting the win and both Bergman and Springer coming up big in extra innings...

Home runs flying all over the place. Not only were the 10 home runs a record for the All-Star game but 13 of the 14 total runs were all driven in by the long balls. The only run that wasn't was via a sac-fly. 8 of the Hrs were solo shots. Nats park played small last night.:rolleyes2:^&grin -- Al

Sorry about your loss, Jason. Glad you have the memories, though. My dad hated baseball so my brother and I learned the game on our own.
The smoke had me shaking my head and laughing. DC is very humid, heavy air, little breeze, so they got lucky the smoke cleared away fast enough to avoid any real delay, even though the singers and such probably suffered smoke inhalation. {eek3} -- Al

Al:

Thanks for the kind words.

Interesting stats from the game:

25 strikeouts (15 in the first 4 1/2 innings)
10 home runs
9 singles
The AL won for the 18th time in 21 games

Adios, Manny. O's have traded Machado to the Dodgers for 5 prospects (2 RHP's, 2 IF's, and an OF). Thanks for the memories, Manny. The whole Dodger Blue thing ain't right, but it is what it is. -- Al

Al:

I couldn't have said it better. As a Giants fan it is a worst case scenario. I also don't buy into the fact that he is only a rental. The Dodgers find money for $200 mil contracts like I find change underneath my couch cushions for beer money.

It appears that Chris Tillman's 10 year career with the O's is over as he has been DFA'ed...unless he accepts the move to the minors. Can't see he has any choice as no one else will sign him. -- Al

I just took a look at his numbers and that 10.46 era jumps right out at you, but you can also see that he was really good in 2016. My bet is that the O's want that roster spot to see what some of their young farm arms can do.

Jason, injuries derailed him and he has never recovered. The move is past due, but he was a mainstay and the O's best pitcher from 2012 through 2016. As to the other point, I believe there will be a lot of youngsters getting a look.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

It is all part of the rebuild. On a side note the Giants are apparently very interested in Britton but they simply do not have any prospects to offer in trade.

Thank you Mets, they beat the MFY's, RS beat Detroit 1-0, up 5.5 now on the gashouse gorillas...……………….

You’re welcome ^&grin

If Yankees can’t beat the bad teams, they’re going to be in trouble. The next two days don’t get any easier as the Yankees starting pitchers are not as good as the Mets SP.

Mets will shortly be looking for a new closer. Familia didn’t pitch tonight as he’s close to being traded. As are believed to be a leading candidate.

Don’t look for any help today. Matz was terrible and Gray adequate.

28-71.......it's even hard to type those numbers, at this rate I'm dead serious about the O's have a good shot at the worst 162 game season. Just unreal.
