2018 Baseball season (2 Viewers)

28-71.......it's even hard to type those numbers, at this rate I'm dead serious about the O's have a good shot at the worst 162 game season. Just unreal.
Sammy, the O's are 3 games behind (worse than) the 1988 O's team after the 99 game mark. They may not set the all-time loss record for MLB but they have a real shot at the all-time worst record in Baltimore franchise history (the '88 teams 107 losses). -- Al

Al, what's the exact worst regular 162 game season???

Sammy, that honor belongs to the 1962 expansion New York Mets, with a record of 40 -120. More recently, the 2003 Detroit Tigers were 43-119. The worst record, ever, belongs to the 1899 Cleveland Spiders with an incredible 20-134 record. The O's are bad, but I don't see them reaching these records. They certainly have a legitimate shot at the worst O's record of the '88 team with it's 54-107 record. I think they can do that.:rolleyes2: -- Al

The RS lost to the toothless Tigers, 5-0 last night; they left their bats packed from prior to the all star break, scoring a whopping 1 run over 2 games, they have gone scoreless 17 strait innings.

The Mets almost beat the MFY's again, losing 7-6, so the game gained on Friday was lost last night.

My brother has scored two tickets for Friday night's game when the MFY's come to town in two weeks, so we'll see how that shakes out.

That shows how snake-bit the Phillies are as a franchise-they only ever lost 111 games, back in 1941. So, even when they lose, they lose.

I remember the O's season in '88, and checking the sports page every day, waiting to see if they'd make it one more loss or not. It was that same kind of curiosity we see when we see an accident. You just have to look, you can't help yourself.

Prost!

The '88 O's, in setting the O's loss record of 107, opened the 88 season with 21 straight losses, a huge hole to work out of, yet the 2018 O's have managed to fall 3 games behind the 88 teams pace after 99 games. Pretty impressive and the reason they have a great chance at becoming the O' all-time worst team. The 2018 O's have been more consistently bad over the long haul and with the trades beginning, will only get worse in all probability. -- Al

They are getting into that territory. Based on their winning percentage, they're projected to win between 45-46 games. As they shed players, it could get worse.

Astro's pitching staff looked sharp today...^&grin

13-3...

I quit watching in the bottom of the 7th...

Ok, I think the O's have 62 games left, which means they can only win 11 games to break the 1962 Mets 40 wins and get only 39 wins, that's a tall order for any bad team but I think we can do it, playing the Yanks, Red Sox 19 times combined along with playing the hardest 2nd half schedule in the majors, 11 wins??? Maybe not so far fetched.

The Os are playing .280 ball right now. To avoid ignominy they need to win 13 more; 13 out of 62 is .200 ball. They should be able to win 13 more. Playing less than .200 doesn’t seem possible.

I think you are right, Brad. As bad as the O's are, IF they keep the current starting pitching which has been passable, they will win the games needed to avoid MLB history. I still think they have a good shot at Baltimore history.:wink2: -- Al

Depends on who else they unload at the trading deadline; all I can say is for their fans sake, these deals they are making had better result in some prospects that pan out as legit MLB players, because if not...………………….and the truth is prospects are just that, prospects.

Prospects are always a roll of the dice. The O's had to roll on Machado because they were going to lose him anyway and all they would have gotten is a draft pick had they held him until he went FA. And we all know Angelos wasn't going to spring for the bucks to resign him. Anyway, 5 chances is better than 1 in the case of Machado. -- Al

As bad as the O's season has been I still think the Mets have a the strangest season. They had a great start to the season only to get riddled by injuries and now Noah Syndergaard is headed to the disabled list after contracting hand-foot-and-mouth disease.

I wonder if that is the first time in MLB history that a player has gone on the DL due to hand-foot-and-mouth disease?

It's not complicated. The start was a mirage and everything since then is reality. When they got off to a hot start, the manager abused the bullpen, which has turned out to be very, very bad. They shopped at the bargain bin when they signed free agents. Contrast that with teams like the Yankees, who have a very exciting, young (and I emphasize young) dynamic team. Dr. Injury showed its face -- again -- and when it did, because the farm system is now poor, they had no replacements that could fill the bill. For example, Jose Reyes, who is a shadow of his self, is still playing. Why? They have no replacements down at the farm. Cespedes being hurt again has really "hurt" them. He makes the offense go. His 2018 is going about as well as 2017.

The good news is they will have a new GM next year. The present administration has done a poor job since 2015 and they need to clean house, both in the front office and on the field.

The Red Sox beat the LET'S GO O'S!! in a middle of a monsoon 5-3 while the MFY's lose to the Devil Rays 7-6.

Nice hustle down the line by Sanchez in the 9th, must be tough running carrying a .189 BA.

MFY's now 6 games out, Severino stunk tonight; their rotation is a tire fire right now and with no top of the rotation arms available at the deadline, what are the gashouse gorillas going to do?

Look out '62 Mets!!! O's a knocking on your door!!! In all seriousness at this point might as well pull for them to break that loss record I mean if we're going to be this bad, let's go all in and break that son of *****.

O's have reached 73 losses in 101 games. It took the terrible 1988 O's 110 games to lose 73. Sammy, you may get your wish.{sm2} O's have to lose 48 of their last 61 to set a new modern MLB loss record. -- Al

I will give O's fans credit as they are still going to the games. As of yesterday the O's have drawn over 1 million fans to their 48 home games.
