2018 Baseball season (3 Viewers)

The Red Sox won and all that, but Bellinger was clearly running in fair territory on the blown DP that preceded the Puig 3 run bomb, he should have been ruled out.

By rule, you are supposed run inside the box starting halfway up the line, he was three feet outside the box, the box is there for a reason.

Also, the night before Hunter ran out of the basepath along the grass before he slid into Boegaerts's leg and broke up the DP, he should have been ruled out there.

Nice bush league move by Machado to spike Pierce in the 9th inning, that's the second time he's done that in the playoffs, he's a dirty POS.

IE, he'll make the perfect Yankee.

Close these bush leaguers out tomorrow night please.

Reserving my judgement on Machado until I see where he signs.

If the Giants sign him he is just a hard-working player who does what he can to help his team to win. If he goes anywhere else he is a dirty player who should be banned from the MLB. ^&grin

Another Jansen failure in the World Series.

Anyone up for 11 more innings?
Jansen has been most unimpressive and the Nats got rid of Madson for a reason. Don't see how the Sox can posssibly blow this WS. The games have been entertaining, especially once the bullpens take over. -- Al

Jason, I used to like Machado until he held the O's feet to the fire and demanded to be put at SS this year. This demand started a domino effect in the O's defense. O's didn't resign JJ Hardy at SS (mistake #2 after Machado's move to SS) and there was no one ready to take over 3B when Machado moved (mistake #3). The whole infield defense was out of sync all year long as a result. Machado is a superior 3B but only an average SS. Any team signing him would do well to remember that. -- Al

I was screaming last night about running outside the lines. Perhaps it’s not a reviewable play.

The more I see of Machado, the less I like him. The night before he cadillaced on a ball he thought was a HR. I remember Ricky Henderson did that when he was on the Mets; they released him the next day.

On that play at 2b, another DP.

Although I’d like the Red Sox to close it out tonight, secretly I hope the baseball season is extended one more game because we’ll then have nothing until March and the realization that winter is just around the corner.

As Bart Giamatti said, “... as soon as the chill rains come, baseball stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.”

Is it March yet?:wink2:^&grin -- Al

They dissected this play last night on the MLB post game show; it's not reviewable, it's a judgement call.

I thought when Puig pimped around the bases, flexing and blowing kisses after that three run rocket he hit that the game was over.

Not with this team.

Unbelievable.

If the top of the order doesn't kill you (they were something like 1-41 in the last two games...……….that's incredibly bad), the bottom of the order will.

Why on earth does Roberts keep trotting Madson out there, he's allowed all 7 inherited runners to score in the WS, he's brutal.

And Jansen again for the 6 out save, he pitched two innings the night before.

Three down, one to go.

And the stand up to cancer moment; no words, but I wish my friends wife hadn't been in the kitchen chopping onions...……………...:wink2:

George, about Madson, as I noted earlier, the Nats dumped him for a reason. He basically broke the Nats back all by himself with that blown game in Chicago in August. Scherzer had shutout the Cubs through 8, Madson comes in to the 9th with a 3-0 lead, gets first 2 out then gives up back to back singles, hits a batter to load the bases, and then gives up the Grand Slam to lose the game 4-3. It was widely seen as the game that finished the Nats chances for the season, broke their spirit, etc. At any rate, he didn't stay in DC too long after that. LA apparently didn't pay any attention. -- Al

I'm a huge sports fan of the local teams; Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, baseball is the only sport I get emotional about.

I think part of the reason is it's the one sport I played on a number of levels, Little League, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Legion, College, Yawkey League, Park League, I think the main reason is it reminds me of my Grandfather, Dad and Uncle, none of whom are still with me.

I was a Red Sox fan as a kid, but it went to another level in the Summer of 75, my Uncle Peter from Arizona came out to visit that Summer, he was here for two months, he and I attended about a dozen Red Sox games that magical Summer leading up to IMO the greatest WS ever played.

My grandfather died a year after the 1975 Wolrd Series, my Mother is convinced losing that 1975 World Series is what did it.

I'll never forget the phone call my Uncle Peter made to me the day after game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, he went on this 10 minute rant about Grady and Aaron Boone, he died that December, my Mother is convinced losing that 2003 ALCS did him in too.

Luckily my Dad lived long enough to see 2004, 2007 and 2013.

He died two weeks after the Patriots/Falcons Super Bowl, my Mother...…………..well you get the idea...…..

So it's during games like last night after the Red Sox won that game that I get emotional thinking of the three of them and how much baseball meant to them and to me, it's the fabric that bound us all together.

And I love this team so much; they are nails, I love how it's not the big names that are doing this, it's the role players who are carrying the load, that makes it all the more sweeter.

Close this out tonight and win it for the fourth time this century.

Great family history there, George. Baseball does get into the blood and it is fantastic that it ties your family generations together. Boston has this thing locked and deservedly so. They have been the best team all year and have been the best through the playoffs. Good luck to the Sox tonight. They've earned it. -- Al

Al,
Thanks...…...no other sport does it like baseball.

I remember a spot that ran here on TV after the Red Sox finally won it in 2004...……..shows a guy driving along and he glances at something alongside the road, looks again, then again, then pulls over and gets out.

He's standing there, looking with his amazed look on his face...…………..the camera pans away and shows a cemetery with literally hundreds of tombstones decorated with balloons, hats, WS winning pennants...……...the camera pans back and he gets all choked up and...……...fade to black...…….."Congratulations Boston Red Sox, 2004 WS champions, this one was for all of the family members who never got to see them win it all"...………….

What a nutpunch...……….

Looking good for Boston. Sox are beating up Kershaw again and getting another gem from Price. Only 9 more outs needed. I smell a party starting in the New England area.{sm4} -- Al

So I'm thinking Price has to get the series MVP for his clutch pitching jobs although I like what ex-O's player Steve Pearce is doing. -- Al

Congratulations to all the Boston fans, and especially George. Four titles in the 18 years of the new century is pretty impressive.:salute:: -- Al

Congrats to George!

The Red Sox were the best team all year and they proved that with a World Series win.

Well deserved.

Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox.

They had by far the best record in baseball this year and crushed the Dodgers in the series.

Frankly, this series could have ended last night if the Red Sox would have won that Friday night 18 inning game. Yeah, the Red Sox could have swept the series.

On paper the Red Sox had the better team in just about every category of the game, except maybe pitching…This series, they proved they were better there too!

Yes, they played liked they won 108 games (17 more than the Dodgers) this year. No flukes this year.

Congratulations again to the Red Sox.

I see Pearce got the MVP. He is certainly worthy but I still would have given it to Price. -- Al
