2020-2021 Hot Stove League (2 Viewers)

If Max goes, SF is a good place for him. He has the right to veto any trade but has indicated that he would like the west coast if possible. -- Al
Rumors being discussed by the announcers during the 2nd game of todays Nats v Phils doubleheader saying SD and Nats are hammering out the details of a deal sending Max to the Padres. Still just rumors right now. {eek3} -- Al

Yankees got the Rangers best player...
Gallo is really gonna help them...
great bat with an outstanding arm on defense,,,

I'm guessing with their dismal record...
the Rangers have thrown in the towel on 2021

Great, just what the Gashouse Gorillas need; a left handed bat to hit 300 foot home runs out of Williamsport East.

Rizzo heading to the Yankees, yet another left handed bat to hit 300 foot home runs at Williamsport East.

So what do they do with Voit when he comes back?

Multiple sources are claiming the frontrunner to land Scherzer is...............................the Dodgers.

Oh and multiple sources are reporting the Lakers are on the verge of getting Russell Westbrook.

If anyone needs me, I'll be outside smashing things into 10,000 ****ing pieces....................

Deal is done; Westbrook for three tomato cans.

Scherzer deal is done; him AND Turner going to the Dodgers for their top two prospects and two middling prospects.

Honest to Christ; I surrender.

Just heard this. There will be a lot of upset fans in DC, not over Scherzer who was expected to go, but over Turner, a mainstay of the team and very popular. Rizzo must have lost his mind. Turner is one of those franchise players, like Soto, that only comes along every so often. Going to be really interesting to see who the prospects are and to see just how bad the flak over this turns out to be. -- Al

The Nats had previously announced that everybody but Soto was available so Turner being traded was a distinct possibility.

Full blown fire sale in DC. Schwarber to the Red Sox for a minor league pitcher; Hand to Toronto for a minor league catcher; Scherzer and Turner to LA for 4 minor leaguers; RHP Daniel Hudson to SD. Hurry before all the bargains are gone!{eek3} -- Al

Starting Inf Josh Harrison and starting catcher Jon Gomes gone to the Athletics. With 3B Castro suspended, the Nats have now lost 5 starters from the field, and counting Scherzer, set-up man Hudson, and closer Hand, we have very little left to play ball with. Rizzo really meant business with this fire-sale/rebuild move. -- Al

Their downfall started when they didn’t sign Rendon. Beginning of the end but you got a title out of it, just like the Cubs did, so you can’t complain. A lot of teams would gladly settle for that.

Rendon, as it turned out, wasn't going to resign in DC. He wanted the west coast for personal reasons. No complaints from me about the title, just a bit shocked at the sudden and complete overhaul. Rizzo really went all-in. Signing Soto to a long-term contract is now priority #1 but figuring out who will play around him will be somewhat important, also.{sm3} -- Al

Can't wait for tonight's Nats v Cubs game. After the duel Massacree in DC and Chi-town, fans are going to be treated to a lot of new and unknown faces. Will be AAA at a ML level.:rolleyes2: -- Al

As the saying goes, flags fly forever.

That said, fans mostly either live in the present, aka, what have you done for me lately, or they wallow in self pity over blown titles.

The euphoria of winning it all lasts about a week, then planning for the next season begins.

That fire sale in DC was something else, I'm surprised they didn't start ripping seats out of the stands and selling them too.

To me, the issue has always been trading away proven MLB players for prospects because prospects are just that, prospects that haven't played 12 seconds in MLB, they could pan out, or they could be busts.

As a fan, I'd rather not dump proven talent for potential, but that's just me.

With the Massacree in DC over for the moment, the Nats have 4 players remaining from the 2019 WS champions, Corbin, Sosa, Parra, and Zimmerman. Whew, what a 24 hour rollercoaster ride this was. {sm3} -- Al

My error, forgot 3 relief pitchers still with the team, Suero, Rainey, and Ross, and, most importantly, Stephen Strasburg, the WS MVP. I plead stupidity by forgetting him, but in my defense, he has missed most of 2020 and 2021 on the IL.:redface2: So, 8 left from the WS team, although I expect this number will shrink by 2022 spring training. -- Al

The Giants traded for Kris Bryant.

I will be a dedicated fan and laud the trade as the greatest move ever.

Then again, if they didn’t make any moves I’d say that was great too.

Instead, I think I will be honest and let time and the actual games decide.

O's Matt Harvey has hit the reset button since the All-Star break. He has won 3 straight, going 6, 6, and 6.1 innings in each start, allowing no runs and walking only 1 while fanning 11. Now 6-10 on the season, but he is looking sharp and very Dark Knightish. -- Al

For whatever reason I cheer for Harvey.

I hope he continues to put up those numbers.
