2020 NHL Season and Playoffs (1 Viewer)

Tough to hang that loss on Rask with one power play after another. Maybe he needed a night off?

And even though they didn’t win Marchand’s goal was epic.

I will be watching on Wednesday.

The Bruins first line is incredible, best in hockey and it's not even close...........the rest of the team needs to step up, Coyle and Hall have been invisible all series long, if another line does not get going, they are done...................

And in truth, I give the Islanders a ton of credit; they were overwhelmed in game one but have been right there in every game since, the Bruins have had one goal leads and been unable to go up two or three scores and really put pressure on the Islanders.

They weathered the storm in the first period as the Bruins came out flying, but they hung on and found a way to tie the game, they they dominated the second period for the most part and a good chunk of the third period, their goalie has come up big when neeeded; Rask, not so much, that's been the difference, he sucked last night.

The Bruins got demolished last night 6-2 and are done..............what on earth was Cassidy thinking playing a hobbled Rask in games 5 and 6, he stunk in both games, so that's that,

Another second round playoff exit for this team.

That piss poor draft in 2016 has crippled this franchise, imagine having the 14th, 15th and 16th picks and coming away with virtually nothing, what a disaster.

No clue where this team goes next, they are stuck in no mans land; not bad enough to rebuild, not good enough to challenge for the cup.

2019 was their chance and they blew it to a bunch of goons with a cementhead for a coach.

The Kessel trade netted them Seguin and Hamilton and neither of them are with the team, the Seguin trade was a disaster, they got nothing for him, a generational talent that they bungled out the door, that still haunts them.

It is what it is; I'm done with hockey for the year, I could give two ****s who wins the cup now..........................

Give some credit to Trotz. He is a great coach and always gets the best from his team. The Caps were never the same after they let him go. Boston had no chance even if they got past the NYI. TB would have destroyed them. They are playing at a high level.

He reminds me a lot of Scotty Bowman; from the neck down.

The Islanders are built for the playoffs, production from all their lines, a suffocating defense that clears out rebounds and reduces chances below the dots, their goalie is elite, they were 9-2 vs the Bruins this year, they are the better team. They play that craptastic New Jersey Devils circa 1990's style of defense, suffocating and collapsing down low, taking away the middle of the ice, boring as crap.

The Bruins have the best line in hockey, a very good PP, decent defense and a mediocre goalie; ie, not positioned well for deep playoff runs.

Rask is a free agent; adios...................I'll always remember him for giving up two goals in the final minute of game 6 of the SC finals vs Chicago which ended the series, coming up small in game 7 of the 2019 finals, bailing on the team in the bubble last year prior to the start of the playoffs and this chickenshit performance in this series.

He needs to go, it's Swayman time.

And like most teams that go far in the playoffs, the Islanders play a heavy game, finish their checks, lay the wood to teams...............the NHL is comical; they want skating, shooting and scoring to liven up the game, but come playoff time, teams like Toronto, Boston, Washington and Pittsburg get worn down by heavy teams that blow players up.

The Nordiques got bounced by the Golden Knights last night 6-3..................so we're left with a 2nd, a 3rd and two fourth seeds................

I love playoff hockey, but that's not doing it for me..............no one left to root for at this point for me, don't like any of the four teams left standing.

Would like to see Islanders/Knights in the finals; they'd be so busy trying to kill each other there wouldn't be enough players left to finish the series if it goes 7 games.

The fact that both of those teams are still standing just proves my point; finesse, skating and scoring mean nothing in the playoffs, it's all about destroying the other team and taking out as many players as you can, very little actual skill involved, which is disappointing and why hockey has never gone to the next level in popularity nationally.

Hockey has never been more popular. The stadiums are filled with folks willing to spend hundreds for a ticket. They are rocking. Hockey is a fast moving and physical game. When I watch a MLB game, the stands are almost empty and the crowd is on suicide watch. It is depressing. But everyone has their subjective preferences. My LA Kings are cellar dwellers in the NHL but I still love to watch a good hockey game.

Yeah that's pretty bizarre considering how long the Kings have been a dumpster fire and how the Dodgers finally won a WS after several nut shot losses in the WS and are contenders again this year, but whatever floats your boat.

That Islanders impression today of the NJ Devils and their ****tastic brand of suffocating defense in the 1990's should really boost hockey ratings.

And think of all the rabid, long suffering Golden Knights fans tuning in to watch their team vs a clownshow Montreal team who managed to weasel their way into the playoffs with the lowest point total of the 16 teams that qualified tomorrow night.

I'm sure NBC is salivating at the thought of an Islanders/Golden Knights SC final, talk about a ratings bonanza, shades of the original six on display right there.

Not much left for me to cheer for either.......

Except Carey Price. I have posted this story before, but check out the video.

From Sports Illustrated:

"After the team's skate that morning, Price shared an emotional moment with a fan who recently had his mother pass away from cancer. The fan's mom's dying wish last year was for her son, 11-year-old Anderson Whitehead, to get to meet Price some day."

The thoughtfulness shown by Price is amazing, check out the 12 second mark where he removes his mask out of sheer respect.

The Islanders got demolished tonight 4-2 and it wasn't that close, Trotz was whining about the Lighting having too many men on the ice on one of their goals................he wasn't whining about that BS cross check by his player that caused the Lightning player to crash into the goalie and he got whistled for it..............such a BS call and naturally it led to an Islanders goal.

Tampa had 7 men on the ice for that goal though; well afterall, they've been cheating on the salary cap for three years, they're what, 14 million over the cap this year?

But hey, as long as it's not a Boston team cheating, it's all good......................:rolleyes2:

I watched the last 2 games that were played in Vegas and Tampa Bay.

The outside temperature for each game at the time of the puck drop was 115 and 87 degrees respectively.

As a California hockey fan I love expansion but at the same time there is something very wrong with those temperatures.

The Lightning are running the Islanders out of the building, up 6-0 after two periods.

The Islanders changed goalies when they were down 3-0 and gave up three more goals.

They should make another change and put this guy in.

Montreal up 3-0 after two periods vs Vegas..............that opening ceremony or whatever you want to call it in Vegas is just about the cheesiest thing I've ever seen.......some bozo dressed in a clownshow knight get up yanks a sword out of a stone, yells and screams something, then drummers drum away, then some WWE ring announcer starts yelling and screaming and the golden knights skate onto the ice through a giant knight helmet....................

Mother of God.

Oh then some celebrity from Vegas, in this case some WNBA player cranks a siren/horn/air raid siren to fire up the crowd....................so no feature dancers were available then?

Then after all that, they lay a gigantic egg so far tonight...................we'll see if they have 4 goals in them for the third period.

Two years ago we went to Las Vegas to see the Blues play the Knights. Got to disagree on the pre game show. Seeing it in person I thought was impressive. It is Las Vegas you know. Would it work in St louis or Boston? No.

Right; it's a perfect fit for Vegas.

And they are in deep trouble, Colorado knocked them down a couple of pegs, we'll see if Montreal can close them out.

Islanders win game 6 to force a game 7, Tampa's leading scorer was taken out of the game early with a brutal cheap shot crosscheck that the three blind mice somehow missed..............................the amount of cross checking that goes on in this league currently is unreal.

Tampa had better come out flying Friday night; if they get in a rock fight with the Islanders, forget it.

Tampa wins in a thriller, 1-0, moves on to the finals to face Montreal.

Yeah...................so anyway.

This thread is a lot of fun, nice for me to have a sports conversation with myself.

I'm a big hockey fan but Tampa and Montreal is not doing it for me. My interest wanes when I can't conjure up a reason to pull for someone. It's quite a culture clash, though. Montreal used to be THE team in hockey decades ago but I haven't seen them play in years.
