2020 NHL Season and Playoffs (1 Viewer)

Bruins eliminate the Capitals tonight after winning 3-1 to close out the series 4-1.

Really didn't see that one coming, but I'll gladly take it.

On to the next round vs either the Penguins or the Islanders.

Playoffs are nuts, I didn't think we would be in the dogfight we are in, but so far looks pretty even alternating games. Bruins just outright stoned the Caps. I cannot find any disappointment in that.

The Capitals won the Cup in 2018; and haven't gotten out of the first round since.

They finally got the monkey off their backs and have proceeded to go back to being the Capitals.

Blind squirrel; say hello to the acorn.

It's comical to see old footage of NHL games and no one is wearing a helmet, the goalies weren't wearing mattresses for pads either.

Players today all wear helmets with shields, then when they fight, they punch each other in the shields..................

And those old time goalies who didn't wear masks; holy smokes. Then when they did, it was basically a face cover, you get drilled off the mask, your brain rattles around like a pinball in your dome....................

George:

As usual great post.

The longest consecutive games played streak by a goalie in NHL history is 502 games by Glenn Hall from 1955-1962. Not a big deal until you consider he did it without a mask!

Meanwhile today’s goalies wear more protective gear than a member of most ordinance disposal team members.

Bruins win game one 5-2, top two Bruins lines dominated, 4 goals, 29 total shots..................

The building was packed tonight, the crowd was electric, gave me ****ing chills to be honest, the roar on each goal drowned out the broadcasters, been a long time coming.

We're on to Monday night.

I absolutely love NHL expansion because without it San Jose wouldn’t have a team.

But as a hockey fan playoff series like the Bruins vs. the Islanders remind me that the rich history of certain franchises truly define hockey.

The Bruins first line is humming, the second line is very, very good with the addition of Hall..............that was classic playoff hockey last night, skating up and down the ice.

Refreshing to see no scrums after the whistle like there constantly were in the Capitals series or opposing players trying to take Bruins players heads off like in the finals two years ago.

The Bruins aren't a bunch of goons, they play hockey the right way, skate and pass, set up the offense and shoot the puck.

They need to keep playing like they did last night all series long.

On paper the Maple Leafs are better than the Canadiens.

The Canadiens beat them because their goalie was dominant.

Carey Price isn’t some scrub who came out of nowhere, he has consistently been one of the best goalies in the NHL for years.

Good for him in stealing the spotlight. It is good for Montreal and it is good for hockey.

Bruins win the swing game vs the Islanders 2-1 in OT to go up two games to one................Bruins bombarded Patrick Roy tonight and outshot the Islanders two to one, but Bernie Parent stood on his head and made some unreal saves, but Ken Dryden finally let in a cheapie in OT and that was that.

And if these announcers raved one more time about what a wonderful arena the Islanders play in I was going to scream.........oh yeah, what a historic building built for 57.00 back in 1972.....................HUGE win, got home ice back, now sweep the leg Saturday night.

Not that anyone cares, but my pick for the finals:

Boston vs. Colorado

I care.................;)....................

Playoff hockey is tremendous; the years it has shaved off my life; not so much.

Bruins lose game 4 4-1, Islanders in their "legendary barn" beat the Bruins to even up the series 2-2.

They were clearly the better team, forechecked all night long, Bruins top two lines could to nothing all game long, didn't help that Pasternak missed a wide open net early on.

Bruins need to hold serve Monday night or they are doomed, can't see them winning a game six in that legendary ****hole the Islanders play in with those lunatic fans yelling, screaming, singing, chanting all game long............that "TUUUKKKA, TUUUKKKA" chant is something else..............

And that was quite a look with Zach Wilson screaming his lungs out while some cementhead pounded a beer and then repeatedly smashed the can off his head.

How can you expect the Bruins to win in front of lunatics like that..........................

Boston and Montreal are very similar in that they continually make defensive zone blunders only to be bailed out by their goalies.

Rask is one of the most underrated goalies in the NHL, he deserved better last night.

The Bruins defense has not been very good all season long, they'd get demolished by Tampa or Colorado, so maybe it's best that they go out vs the Islanders.

Rask would have to carry them against teams like Tampa Bay or Colorado.

Rask would have to carry them against teams like Tampa Bay or Colorado.

And Pasternak would have to score when he has the entire empty net to shoot at vs clanging one off the far post; unreal that he missed that one.

The Bruins lost to the New York Saints tonight 5-4, outshooting them 46 to 19..................the Saints scored not one, not two, not three, but four power play goals............FOUR...............they get away with murder on the ice, no calls, but when the Bruins act in kind, they get whistled for it.

The officiating sucked tonight, plain and simple, it was NBA bag job level bad.

Just like in the finals two years ago when that cementhead coach of the Blues whined and *****ed about the refs and turned the series around, Cassidy went off on the refs after the game.

We'll see if it works; if not, their season will be over Wednesday night.
