I got a reply to my reply well over half a day later - I was a bit on tenderhooks during that time too. Not to mention getting everything right for the 8.00am 'sharp' start! I had an internet clock rolling and my email typed and my finger on send for 8.00.01 precisely. It was quite stressful! I didn't mind the rules, I appreciated the complexity of it all and I was just grateful for the opportunity to get a bunch of very hard to find figures AND save on shipping. That totally offset the fact that two figures were top-dollar prices BUT two others were brilliant prices! All up I'm thrilled with it the whole deal.

Yes, I think Serge said he had only collected for 4 years so it was an excellent effort to get such an extensive collection, especially of the older figures. I've been collecting for a few years longer and he still had figures I missed by a mile. So yeah, some of his purchase prices were high because figures like these were very hard to come by. I didn't mind matching his expenditure on them. What was extremely impressive was that he didn't bump up the prices of the ones he got at great prices. He could easily have added $20 here, $50 there (or more!) but it seems he didn't. It was a very commendable effort. I guess the only thing left is to have some sympathy that he had to sell his marvellous collection at all.

Congratulations on picking up those sets you were after. I rang to offer my personal congratulations but you were not home and I spoke to your wife. I explained about your purchases. She seemed surprised but I am sure it will be all OK.

Howard,

Perhaps he did not hear you even when you you wrote DO YOU HEAR ME in capitals.

Is the term Do you hear me from a TV show or something as I have never seen it used as a "signature" before ?

Brett

Brett,
What Planet do you live on. Did you ever watch Full Metal Jacket, Were you ever a Marine, Have you ever heard Of R. L. Emery? DO YOU HEAR ME?

Howard

The monologue by R. Lee Ermey at the beginning of Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket is one of the most memorable scenes ever. I'd post it here but it would be censored, not to mention distracting this thread.

I met emery a few years ago at a very large military show. He will sell you his signature for $25. I also met malarky from easy company ie"band of brothers" at the same show. A real good guy. Any body interested in buying emory`s signature for $24.99?

The funny part about Full Metal Jacket is Ermey was brought in as a consultant, a former D.I. and he was to give the actor playing the part of the D.I. tips on how to play the role; the director was so blown away by Ermey that they gave him the gig, the rest as they say is history..................

My favorite line -- no offense to Texans -- was that they only made two things in Texas and those are --- well, go to YouTube ^&grin

They did not use the USMC descriptive phrase about the Three Kinds of People that live in California.[/SIZE]

I just checked the sets for sale page and noticed it has been deleted for now. Perhaps a long awaited update on remaining set availability is forthcoming?

I would wonder what he has left. Out of 12 items I ordered I did not get anything. My email was that he was all sold out. That is hard to believe that he got over $350K of one day on Treefrog. I guess some of you out there have Deep pockets or some dealers wiped him out. GO FIGURE

Not that it will make you feel any better but I think it is more likely you were simply unlucky that the 12 items you picked were rare and popular. I think he said he had 20+ orders in the first hour... It will be interesting to see the revised list to what is available as I would not be surprised if some of the resellers may have jumped in as well

cheers
Jay

As I said, it looks like he paid top-dollar for some figures. There's no margin in those for dealers.

Brett,
I tried to PM you but I do not think it went through. Gave me an error and said your Box was full and you would have to delete to receive, But that is just what it said. I am Stupid when it comes to this Forum. Too many pathways for an Old Man.

If it makes anyone feel better. I ordered 4 items, only got 2 and my email was times tamped at 8 am and about 7 secs. Serge told me it arrived and was ninth in line!

Hi Everyone,

I made a very difficult decision last night, for very personal reason, and decided to cancel all orders.
I know i will make some peoples angry with me, something happened yesterday from an outside TF members that was very unpleasant.

Some peoples can do some things to grab your collection in whatever manner.

Im very sorry for that and i do have to give a BiG Apologize to everyone.

and because of that, i wont come back anymore. this will be my last post.

Serge

Serge,

I, for one, understand and no apology needed mon ami.

I hope you mean the last post on this thread and not the Forum.
