"....An 85-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly shouting "go back to your own country!" at worshippers outside the Jamia mosque in Gillingham today (Friday 24 May). She's currently in police custody."

She could have whispered and they'd have heard her.

Muslim militants stand and scream abuse at every military parade in this country and never get stopped by the police because of their "right to free speech". Apparently everyone doesn't have the same right!

I'll stand by the 85 year old woman.

Yeah we're seeing the regular footage of the boat-loads making the dash towards the golden-country over here Wayne and at times it looks like a re-run of the the D'Day landings.......your navy boys & girls are getting a right work out.

Yeah, I'd say any sane, sensible person, regardless of their religious beliefs would struggle with any of Choudary's so called teachings.......you'd have to ask, where on earth do these nasty little men come from and why so angry at the world and the country they choose to call home.......maybe they weren't breast fed....^&confuse

They come from the margins - unhappy, unsuccessful people who must find external reasons for their failure. They are angry at the world because they feel underappreciated and undervalued. They are like vandals and thieves who punish you for the things you have got and they don't.

It will become a platform for extremists on both sides. What is needed - and I do not know how this would work - is for normal, decent people, in great numbers, to wake up one morning and say 'that's enough ... no more. We will not put up with this.' I put my faith in the genuine, decent people who you meet in the course of every day. Time to show faith in the rule of law, the police, the courts and I really hate to say it so openly, Western Civilisation and all that it values. Be confident enough in British law to give police the powers they need and ignore the big brother criticisms. Trust the system ... and carry a very big stick.

In general I agree with you Jack about the common people. It's the politician with there "social experiments" that have encouraged half of these problems. The very idea of multiculturism I believe is flawed. Every official document is available in some languages I'd never heard of, rather than persuading immigrants to learn English! My son in law is a new subject (I hate "Citizen", we aren't a republic) so I have no problem with immigration. Great Britain has and should have one culture, influenced and improved by everything from Romans to Jamaicans.
I see trouble has also kicked off in Sweden, a more easy going welcoming country you couldn't hope for!

Here is an article written by the brother of an extremist convert, that also agrees with you.

(I hope I'm not "quote mining" or "cherry picking" you here.) I agree. Western Civilization has it's faults BUT has progressed because most people don't want to live either under tyranny or in chaos. "We" have told people that they have freedom of speech and religion but the more destructive practices have been or need to be regulated. The US of A has so much room the various cults just went west where they still were forced to amend their practices to participate in the national life. It has to be tougher for the UK in this matter.

I'm the more "liberal" man here and I agree about the flaws. I guess "multiculturalism" meant to me that we'd all have street fairs with ethnic food and folk dancing rather than have to put up with F.G.M., slavery, and violent cults. I have worked and continue to work with immigrant co-workers and you can see that the folks that make an effort to blend in as far as language and culture do better. If even seen the kids of folks that I work with enter the work force as Americans speaking English and even one serving in the US armed forces. It might be that immigrants have to have a hope for the future rather than being stuck in cultural enclaves.

As far a having government forms printed in various languages, it was explained to me by an engineer (of Asian descent) that there are elderly folks that have lived here many years who never mastered the language but became citizens via translators. They still need printed instructions on government forms which may be cheaper than hiring translators for every agency.

I like to think of myself as pretty much liberal in that if it doesn't affect me I don't much care how people live their lives.
The idea of street fairs etc. is a nice one but it happens naturally just look at the Notting Hill Carnival in London. People like to live with their own, British ex past in Spain are a perfect example, they want to live in the sun but with British beer and fish and chips.

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame none English speakers for taking the easier option but more needs to be done to help them intergrate.
My son in law is from Belorusia and when he had to sit his "Britishness Test", the first thing it said was if you don't speak English a translator can be provided!! Also the actual questions, nothing about actual living in the UK. Just search for the questions!
This kind of thing didn't help Labour 'sent out search parties for immigrants', Lord Mandelson admits! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukn...ies-for-immigrants-Lord-Mandelson-admits.html

One thing has always surprised me if you live in a predominantly ENGLISH speaking country don't you need to speak ENGLISH to get a job.............^&confuse
