Aeroart at Westcoaster (1 Viewer)

I really like those crusaders going up the ladder in post 4.

While not my usual period, I really like the bow of the ship with the Hoplites in it. Very impressive piece.

I don't care what anyone says, there is NOTHING on the market today that rivals Aeroart in quality (except other highly expensive Russian makers). You get what you pay for here. The pieces are stunning in person, just exceptional. I feel fortunate to own some older pieces including an Elephant. I can't even touch the new stuff unless I sold everything else I own!!!!!!!!

Great stuff! Really enjoyed the pics. Thanks for taking the time to post all these marvels!

Yo Troopers have to agree with Mitch, the Knights etc painting is superb but probably expensive. Think the WWII figures are poor not even a good likeness, poor old Monty looks like he is nearly 100 years old.
Bernard.

Very nice ancients and samurai but, none of the WWII figures would make me think I have to put my hand in my pocket. What a combination this will be for the market WWII figures by figarti and aeroart??????
Mitch

I know its hard from pictures sometimes, but you need to see these in person. The WW2 items look good too. Patton was a winner and sold in the first part of the show, upon my second tour, he was gone. by the end, a good number of personalities were gone also.

Yes indeed, that's what I thought. I also thought of the price tag though, better not ask...

I have seen some of these in person and still think they were not of the same quality or sculpt likeness as say the ancients and, I am very WWII orientated. Now, that may seem harsh but, I am waiting to see what the combo does for WWII as both are IMO not great at WWII figures.

I, like Tom, think these figures are the absolute top of the market. They do have to be seen to be appreciated. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase several figures many years ago, (some are still in production, some aren't), including 3 mounted knight figures. Unbelievable detail. Two of the knights have helmets that can be removed to see the head with it's detail. Really glad I have these figures but I am not able to add to them with current price levels. These figures are a true work of art by any standards. -- Al

On the WW II personalities, AA released some of these many years ago. These were all fantastic. Top of the line painting. But with this newer batch (which appear to be the same sculpts), I think there has been a drop off in quality. They are still the best thing around, but at these prices there is not much room for error. Hopefully, AA comes out with some new WWII figures and doesn't just re-release the older ones.

Has Aeroart ever done a Lincoln figure? Does anyone know if one is available?

AA has done many of the Civil War generals (Grant, Lee, Jackson etc) and several individual soldiers, but I don't believe they ever did Lincoln or Davis.

I think the drop in quality is blatently obvious or, I would not have mentioned it. For the price point I don't think they are at all good. As I said in my post the samurai and ancients etc are superb but, not these. Its strange that a company can do such good stuff and fall on the WWII which, can be seen here when you pay top price you want top quality and, I am sorry this does not come close. Perhaps, this is why the two may want to collaborate as both seem unable to crack the WWII figures cause Figarti can't great designed AFV's figures let them down IMO.

I would imagine the drab and "non-flamboyant" nature of WWII doesn't help either.

As always, opinions will differ, but for my money, the Patton figure for example was great and I would take it any day of the week. I didn't notice a huge painting quality drop, I guess the sculpts are so appealing to me.

Figarti's Medic Figure from the show is excellent IMO and they are getting better with each release.

As Doug mentioned, the previous WW2 foray by Aeroart was superb and he has a beautiful collection of personalities.

Again, everyone has there own choice and preference and nothing wrong with that, nice to actually have the choices.

Thanks Doug. Do they do requests?

Not that I'm aware. Even if they did it would likely be very expensive given their normal prices. However, it's worth contacting Thor Johnson or the Russian dealer who posts on this board. Thor is very open and responsive about discussing ideas. I have some vague recollection of discussing Lincoln with him a long time ago, but don't recall exactly what he said. Lincoln seems like an obvious figures given the Civil War personality figures they have done including Winfield Scott. Also, I recall they had some Civil War figures (older ones) in Chicago for the Figarti announcement. So maybe something is in the works with Figarti.

I agree that the choice is great and, would it be boring if we all agreed? I am just commenting on what is before me some will disagree some may not but, I have seen better painting by members on here than what was photographed. I reviewed the Figarti range and saw the releases from the show and have to say they are poor IMO as are a very large proportion of their figure releases. I just don't like the paint style, far too much heavy shading and unrealistic camo patterns thin legs and arms but, many like them so, swings and roundabouts so, they say.

Great figures and great photos. Thanks for posting this treat for the eyes. Nobody does it better, for my money.

I so very much enjoy the Roman onager, Boudicca, the chariot and the war elephant. Boudicca is getting more difficult to obtain. Those are the best photos of the chariot I have ever seen- you did them justice Joe.

I agree with Tom and Lancer- many times I have seen some pictures and said "eh" but then reversed when I saw them in the flesh.

I have to agree w/ you Tom. They do definitely look better in person. Sometimes I wonder if my closeups are a bit too close up:tongue:. Hey, it was great meeting you at the show. I real enjoyed getting a chance to hang out with you and so many other TF members for a spell; good times for all.
