Grenada 3168.4/3171.2 - King of Denmark fighting Sword Brethren Crusader.

I think Grenada has some of the most interest vignettes - they did a number of versions of this scene with different heraldry -it took me a long time to find this one - and had custom flag done as this came without the broken off lance in the shield of the crusader - happy the way it turned out. Would like to earn about this part of history as had no idea the danes fought the crusaders?

and about the " Sword Brethren"

Both they fought against the Livonian it seems .

Those pieces are all top-of-the-line.
We lost touch with Thor.
Why doesn't he release as many show-stoppers as he did before?
Just wondering,
Paddy. Best Wishes.

I know many artists went on to form new companies. Still, I'd love to see that old enthusiasm.
Best Wishes

Thanks Paddy - I agree - the magic of the older pieces is somewhat lost.<br>I don't know why - I  think it might be a combination of artists leaving and starting their own companies and existing studios just raising their prices to a place where Thor can't offer the same quality at the price point

AJ,
That's such a great figure. I've never seen one painted like that. There are lots of variations with most of the EW pieces, especially the early ones, so I don't know if this is a prototype of not. It's likely a master artist from Arsenyev doing her thing and creating a unique piece of art. It's seems like EW5 is always painted different with no two alike. Some are similar but not identical. Your example really stands apart with the color palette and painting of the coat. It's fantastic! You have so many wonderful pieces in your collection. Thanks for sharing!
Joe

Areoart / Arsenyev EW 3 - Henry VIII

Classic piece but I had never seen it painted like this - seems like the reins are different and his saddle and coat is painted different from other versions - maybe a prototype?

AJ,

They don’t. In fact, at the Chicago Show they don’t permit photos. However, I think they’re selling on eBay. If it’s them, their eBay name is coffeeurn and here’s a link to one of their items, https://www.ebay.com/itm/224149700609

Thanks for the info Brad. It's good to see that they are still producing figures. Your Juan II of Castilla piece is wonderful!

Charles I of Spain as Charles V of the Holly Roma Emprire
A very beautifull figure
I remember painting a landsknecht wearing the empire colours of the time ( Barton 54mm )

Mirof,
That is a fantastsic figure! I love the delicate shading throughout and how it creates a dramatic effect. When artists take the time to do that you know it's a special piece.

Aeroart/Arsenyev Knights of the Round Table - I think one of the later versions as it has Gawain and Morgan LeFey

Bit fantastical but still fun - particularly enjoy the dragon on Arthur's cape.

I always loved this set. I have the original but over the years added the additional figures to it.

That has to be the best looking example I have seen of this set, wow! I love it, great share AJ. Yes, love Arthur's cape. Morgan La Fey is a favorite figure of mine. Needless to say you have one of the brilliant versions painted by Arsenyev artists, and it is gorgeous! Great collection- Joe

Zach im sure it felt good when you completed it.
Joe thanks for the kind words.

Trying to try to start to get pictures of the Samurai - having some trouble getting good pictures.

A big favorite of ours too,
Our Dragon is different. We have the later full set. I think each one may have been different. Great individual sets.
Perfect blend of fantasy and history in TS, IMO,
Paddy

AJ, I love the kneeling Samurai by Nevskaya- it's one of my favorite Samurai sculptures. The mounted Vityaz piece is stunning! I wish I had that one. Did you go direct to get that one? Thanks for the pics of your amazing collection- Joe

Thanks Joe - i got it from another collector - have not seen many but will keep my eyes peeled for you!

Paddy - I agree would love to see pictures of your set!

Best wishes

Samurai cont.

PB22 - Arsenyev Samurai - hard to see but there is a dragon painted around the middle

Nevskaya Samurai

Aeroart 5180 Archer - love the robe detail

AJ, All are awesome. The Nevskaya Samurai you have is a brilliant version. To this day I don't know how they paint with such tiny precision. The Arsenyev piece is a real classic. Again it has incredibly fine detail like the dragon you mentioned. The archer has wonderful motifs. I love the suspension bridge, paths, boats and harbor. Thanks for the pics of your great collection.

Joe

Thanks Mark. Those are two Russian studios that produce some of if not the finest pieces in my opinion.

Attached are pictures of Aeroart's Emperor Maximilian EW4 from their Elite Warrior Series made by Arsenyev.

The flag is apparently based on Maximilian's Triumph which is a book the emperor commissioned before his death in 1519. I have only seen two others and the flag was similar but not the same.

I totally love this one . Some really beautiful pieces you've accumulated, thanks for sharing your outstanding collection:salute:::salute:: regards Gebhard

Thanks Gebhard and Joe!

Here are some more of my favorites - hope you enjoy. I'm especially impressed with the painting on the blades - I can't imagine how the artists get detail that remarkable small - I tried to get pictures.
