Alma Figures Crimean War - Gloss and Matt (1 Viewer)

Well actually if you mix gold with a dash of green you get a nice shade of brass! :p:D:D

LOL

Jeff

Hmph!

If only I could come up with something clever like that to make green. I guess I'll never figure out what mystical combination of colours I have to mix, to get that elusive colour.

Yeh with you here Simon, only wants to paint one of my Stadden's GREEN;).
Nice job mate but I knew it would be anyway.:D
Bernard.

Jeff is going to stand for the Green Party at the next election

Sounds like you two are trying to butter me up for a "Creme de Menthe" each at the London show! :D

Jeff

With the Guards and Scots finished I must now turn my attention to the Rifle Brigade figures, which of course have a green uniform ;) The actual shade of green is very dark almost black but the facings, cross straps, belts and pack are all black and to allow these to stand out I am mixing the dark green for the uniform lighter for this reason. If it is required to be darker this can be achieved when the second coat is applied at the touching up stage (after the equipment etc has been painted).

These should be fun! :D

Jeff, do those figures have short or long tails to the coat? If they are short they will be 60th KRRC not Rifle Brigade. The Rifle Brigade had a coat similar in cut to the line infantry, but that of the 60th was only about the length of a Waterloo jacket.

Alan, these have the longer tailed coats as per the Infantry.

I have added the black straps and facings etc, it's difficult to see in the photos due to the bad light at the time I took these :(

Next phase will be the faces.

Hmmmm....just looks black to me. Are you sure there's a hint of green mixed up in that paint, or have you run out as well? :D

Looks good Jeff. What are you using as a source for uniform colours etc? Any web sites you can recommend for these guys? ;)

Simon

Cheers Simon. I'm just making it up as I go along! :D

No not really, Michel had sent me paint guides and that sort of stuff.

Jeff

Already great progress on these ones Jeff !!! Thanks, Michel

Michel, yes good progress today (painting black on dark green is more difficult than it looks ) the faces will help establish these detail wise.

How are the kilted officers coming along?

Not have the time to unpack the packet yet.
But it won't be long before 2 of them march to you :)

Michel, talking about marching on, managed to get abit more done today. Hopefully the difference in uniform and cross belt colours is more evident in these photos.

Thought I would plough on and finish these. I will post some more photos of all the completed figures tomorrow.

Just awaiting the arrival of two kilted Highland Officers.
