Anyone recieved FJs yet?? (4 Viewers)

Come on Gebs! I mentioned base variation last night. Base experts rule!!
Mitch

Hi Mitch,
I was all set to apologize for having missed your mention of the variations in base thickness but I just re -read all your posts on this thread and I don't see any. If you can kindly point it out, I'd be more then happy to make a public apology .. regards Gebhard

Does all this talk about shrinkage have anything to do with the Seinfeld episode where George went in the pool?

And where is this lab run by some secret society anyway, do they wear white smocks or butchers outfits while conducting all of these secret meetings, is there some sort of handshake you have to know to get involved?

And what's this 15% off sale everyone is talking about trying to get in on like a game of poker; I really need to get on that internet thingy, the whole information super highway, is that anywhere near route 95?

Is the secret society like McDonalds secret sauce on their Big Mac ^&confuse

I am usually one that qualifies as rivet counter and struggles with size/scale issues. So far, only the commander and the Russian soldier sticks out to me. The others look like different types human. I think I agree with Mitch in that most of the scales look similar it is just showing different heights which is more realistic. I only have Stalingrad figures so it is hard to tell just from pictures. I dont see big differences in thickness or other pieces that should be the same. They look like different people in different poses in my opinion.

I do appreciate everyone sharing their pics and opinions.

Gebs...
apologies all this is blurring into one!! I think it must be in a response on another forum to the same thread

I've looked at the various pictures and sorry, I don't see the scale issues.

As Steve pointed out, the equipment, weapons, helmets and boots are all the same size, it's the poses that vary.

For example the FJ throwing the grenade is hunched over in the act of throwing; if you look at the picture with the figures all in a row and the Russian on the far left, if that FJ figure is standing up strait, he's the same height as the figure next to him.

Same deal with the picture of the two officers, one is standing pointing, the other is hunched over advancing. They are both carrying the same weapon and it's the same size for both.

Again, sorry, this is a non starter for me..........

George it was a non starter (scale issue) for me from the beginning, but as soon as Alex posted something about being "really Small" I thought, here we go, waiting for the scale experts to come out the wood works and start the analyzing and reanalyzing of everything first Legion has released in its existence!!!! And no Alex there isn't blind loyalty here but knowing what I like and what I don't like, Also really don't appreciate you hijacking my thread and turning it into a scale war thread, feel free to start your own...Sammy

Just tinkering around.

I know the tank doesn't really fit in this scenario but until I get the 222 this is all I got. Boy oh boy do I hope to see some Normandy armor soon

Back on topic ^&grin what great looking figures ^&cool

Was a good thread with some good pics but, the thread actually was about ''what do you think''?? in regards to these figures so, that would seem to encompass everything including scale, Paint etc so, I see the evolving discussion as part and parcel of what the original poster, Sammy was asking for. It may not have developed into a they are just sublime but, it may be that the terms of reference set in an initial post in future may allow people to know what they can or, cannot express on a subject.

The figures IMO are fine a few paint issues in terms of colour and the odd pattern on the smocks not being anything I have seen but, as I mentioned. I congratulate FL on making figures different sizes whilst keeping the human anatomy and military equipment the same size.

Mitch,
Did you happen to notice that a few of the FJ aren't wearing Para Helms at all but instead a Model M35, M40 or M42 (Its impossible to tell which from the photo's). I know that this was done intentionally by FL and feel it only adds to the look of a combat Para in Normandy. I was surprised to see no one mention this yet, as one of them is the figure below that has gotten so much attention as of late. Gebhard

I did notice the helmets and I think it was mentioned in discussions when they were first announced. I also like the mix and match approach but, as it was not brought up in the recent discussions nor do I feel that like the Stalingrad range (which, I am now re purchasing) that the helmets are small I did not raise it in my comments.

We can discuss what model when I get mine hopefully tomorrow maybe Monday. Mind, they will now obviously be coming in a significantly smaller box!!!

I'm thinking of starting a dio with the new FL FJs and I decided to attempt my first building ever. Now this is something new to me so forgive the many, many errors. In fact this is sorta a demo building just to see if I could make something 1/2 way decent looking. I went into this not concerned about scale or historical accuracy and I really made some rough measurements because I wasn't sure about the whole thing. Well this is what I got so far. The front is the only portion partially completed so far. I need to still work on the windows, door, some more brick work etc..... This won't be used in my FJ dio but I think I'm gonna take a stab at it.

Also worth noting is the difference in the thickness of the base on the Russian figure which seems to somehow gone totally un noted by the "experts"

WWII sizes re-examined....Hello guys I am thinking of purchasing some FL US para's.....I know that they will work with FL Waffen ....BUT.....Will they work with the FL US 4th infantry???....Can some one place the FL US 4th infantry and FL US para's side by side in a photo to see if they will work together in terms of size....Thank You

I fully agree!
The individuals can come in all sizes, tall, short, fat, slim...but a helmet, a rifle etc.....Must stick to the correct scale ratio vis a vis the original...these must not have size variations .....they all need to be the correct scale and that is something that we do not see...it seems that every manufacturer has there own scale interpretation and we get the mess we are in.....In other words it seems that they do it on purpose so as to hold you faithful to their offerings only not allowing you to mix different manufacturers in the same dio.....in case you are scale concious

I have liked very much these close ups in special the vegetation arrangement of this " bocage " style......who´s the supplier of the vegetation and the base on which the Tiger is pictured?
Cheers

The FL 4th infantry figures definitely look a little smaller to me then the FL norm...If someone can post a 4th infantry figure next to a US para figure and a British Para figure then these sub-ranges can be seen side by side and that would be helpful.

I was just thinking of adding the 4th Infantry Division figures to my collection. I would love to see some comparison pics as well. Anyone???

I have the FL 4th infantry figures and I like them but I think they are somewhat small bodily (i.e. a little short and thin in stature)....I bought them to go with my FL Sherman......I do not have any of the FL US para's yet and I am considering them.......Unfortunately I do not think that the FL 4th infantry will go well with the FL US para's......The size difference may be too much to use them side by side in a battle scene.....That's why I am asking for some comparison photos of these two WWII US soldier units..... The FL US para's seem to be closer in size to the FL Waffen SS figures....and....The US 4th infantry figures seem to be closer in size to the FJ series.....My guess is that is how they will need to be paired up to be size compatible in a war scene diorama........Photos would be helpful.
