Ashes in Australia (1 Viewer)

England have now gone to Alice Springs for a two day game against some sort of invitational team. I can't understand why England agreed to this? Sure it'll be nice for a few thousand people who never get to see top line sporting teams but it'll be very hot and a two day game is frankly a waste of time. Last time England toured they arranged/demanded good preparation and got it with proper First-class games against full strength state teams. This year they're playing second 11s. I can't understand why they signed off on it? And what value there might've been has been hampered by rain. Part of it may well be the atrocious scheduling Australia does these days. I can't believe we had players in India for SEVEN one-dayers, missing the opening Shield games. It's almost as if actual cricket people have been excluded from the planning?
I believe the reason John is money, plus the fact these days what India wants India gets....long gone are the days when the good of Cricket was the main concern.

Also mate why be accomadating for the "poms" its a cricket tour for the ashes not a holiday,let em sweat in Alice and play our 2nd string teams.

Well I said we'd need the luck to go our way - but I didn't expect we'd get so much! (Well except for that last LBW against Carberry.) What a marvellous day to watch. And now I'm on holidays too!

You make your own luck mate,just poor cricket on England's behalf,they dropped the catches that's not luck but skill................^&grin

England is 4/116 at lunch although Ian Bell is looking good. If God started playing cricket he would have Ian Bell's technique. He is just fantastic.

I attended the opening day's play at the Gabba and watched the opening day in Adelaide on TV. I don't want to start an argument but the English anthem is far and away better than ours. That is balanced by our flag (which has their flag on it) being better than theirs, so I see that as a 1-1 draw!

I know one thing they won't be talking about at the drinks session at the London show..........................^&grin

Don't know that 'God save the Queen' is a better anthem? a matter of taste I guess and judging by your taste in jackets...well, the less said the better. :wink2: Anyway wasn't Greg Chappell God?{sm4}
The Poms all out for....172 :redface2:
Mitch Johnson....7 for 40 :salute::

You probably enjoy your home which is 'girt by sea' but when in conversation does anyone ever use that word? Clear win to our English friends for their anthem but the competition for flags has us ahead of them but behind the Americans.

Australia 2/4!

Jack

7 - 40! What extraordinary bowling for Adelaide!

Did anyone else hear Slater's beauty in the last over yesterday, in relation to that desperately scampered single, that caught Carberry off-guard and almost got him run out?
"That's a quick Root at the other end." Priceless!

Jack, Waynepoo, Tom, Larso , Howard (if you're reading this mate:salute::) Many congrats to Australia for a fine second victory over us on the bounce. Earlier this year over here the teams looked far more evenly matched, now Australia are dominating the play including some fine bowling. Enjoy guys:salute::

Thanks for that. It has been refreshing to have a few wins after a dry spell. It goes to show that when a solid team gets on a roll they can be hard to stop. Got laugh at the Press in both countries - apparently our team went from useless to brillliant in ten days and England went from the best team in the world to one of the worst.

Luck does play a part. If all our bowlers had been fit Mitch Johnson was the seventh choice. He would not have even got a look in. When we lose I will try to be as sincere in congratulating you ... but I cannot promise anything!
