Ashes in Australia (3 Viewers)

A good day's play but I have seen Australia fail in a lot of run chases. Here is hoping for some professionalism at the crease tomorrow.

Well this game has swung back and forth like crazy! I went out a few hours ago and England was right on top, now who knows?

Well, i'll go a tentative Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi but yeah, it could go either way tomorrow and I reckon the first 2 hours could determine who wins the game.

Look, I think Australia will win. We've been shaky in chases but this seems the right amount to get to have them bat normally. Certainly Australia's good day will have them feeling better than the English players tonight. England are certainly a show, it's probably 60/40. Hopefully I'll get to see some of it....

Hmm, drop catches lose matches! Two dropped this morning by the English and that will make it hard for them to win the game!

Can't believe what im reading fella,s never a doubt, the English are down and out.

We won but remember this is the team that smashed us a couple of years ago we are rebuilding and are starting to look the goods. We will see how England go against South Africa in there next test series and how we do in our next one. Chris.{sm3}

I can't believe Haddin has done it again!

I am a fan of Bailey's but I fear he may be restricted to one dayers for the rest of his career. I also like Alistair Cook but his captaincy leaves quite a bit to be desired. He seems a nice chap and on his day a fine batsman. KP has scored more runs than any other English batsman but he has come under the most scrutiny. They must hate him. I see also that Watson teased again and threatened a major first innings score before getting out.

Yes, all quite predictable. Hayden and someone else save us after we're 5 for not enough. Watson looks great and disappoints, sterotypically in the last over before a break. Smith looks awkward and not of this level and makes a fantastic score. Lyon is 'not out'. Cook lets a game slip - again. England don't go close to getting through their overs. It appears to be Cook's favourite tactic?

Well played Australia, absolutely ruthless display and well deserved whitewash.:salute::

We need to go away and do some rebuilding me thinks.:rolleyes2:

I am a fan of English cricket so while I am pleased we played well it is hard to take a delight in the extent of the thrashing. I spent almost 15 years watching the West Indies do it to us so I never tire of them losing, but with England it is different. I am pleased, however, that they did not grab a consolation win. It will be better for them in the long run to be forced to acknowledge that there are issues that need to be addressed. There is nowhere to hide. They cannot say the start of the series was poor but once they found their groove it was business as usual. The West Indies were in terminal decline five years before they started losing but their bowlers won them games they should have lost and therefore obscured the deep institutional failings of their cricket structure. There are weaknesses in the English team that they will address and they will be stronger for it. For us Aussie fans, have a look at the papers. A lot of talk about our bowling team being the best in the world, all our young fast bowlers blah blah blah. Look for a comment, any comment, about the next generation of batsmen knocking the door down with three or four hundreds a year. The silence is deafening. We need at least three or four young batsmen scoring a thousand runs a year and demanding selection. We have done well and were worthy winners. We should celebrate. Then we should look seriously at how weak the Sheffield Shield is at the moment. We boast that it is one of the strongest first class competitions in the world. There was a time when that was true. That time has passed.

Mate are you watching the same state cricket as me................^&confuse^&confuse
State cricket is very healthy with a wealth of young batsmen and bowlers im very very confused by your statement.

Michael Clarke's back goes, Chris Rogers dies of old age and Shane Watson is murdered by his teammates. (I like all three though!)

Where are there three batsmen who are knocking the door down with weight of runs lining up to take their place? We have the Callum Ferguson and Shaun Marsh types who have had years to establish themselves yet who still average in the thirties. Khawaja is not up to, Hughes is good but is his technique up to it and ... who else? It is not that all our backup batsmen are useless but there is no Matt Hayden, Stuart Law, Michael Hussey and Brad Hodge scoring runs so regularly that their exclusion seems unfair. Try naming a full 2nd XI that could compete at Test level. Plenty of bowlers but who would score the runs? Our 1st XI batting is not up to it so I fear that we may well have the best bowling attack in the world but given our batting, we are lucky that they have all fired together. Do not get me wrong. I am very pleased that we are doing well but in the last three series we have lost 7 and won 5 (all at home -The capacity to win overseas is the measure of a team) while England have won 5 of their last 6 series. If we went to India tomorrow for a four Test series, would we be competitive? Possibly, but not definitely.

Happy at the end of the tour of SA to be proven wrong. Yet a team cannot be 5/120 so regularly and assume Haddin will lead a fightback. As a WA boy and me from Queensland, we should not be arguing. Our hatred of NSW should unite us.

Well not exactly the Ashes but I went along to the One-dayer Friday night and spent most of the time expecting so see Australia lose. It's easy to see how T20 cricket has captured the attention. Basically it cuts out the middle 30 overs which can be, frankly, a bit boring. Certainly this was my thought on the night. It is a long time and when Australia looked dead at nine wickets down, we were close to leaving (we wanted to beat the crowd).

Anyway we stayed - just - and after I'd said, for the third or fourth time that I'd bet my house on England winning, there came the most astonishing finish I have ever seen! I must've seen (live I mean) the last day of ten or so tests and perhaps 20 One-dayers and though there were a few interesting finishes and a bit of tension here or there - nothing came close to this! We all went a bit mad in the crowd.

Yeah, it was a "Bevan" finish for sure! Hope the madness subsided after a while John! {sm4}

An apology to my Australian friends and fellow Cricket lovers!:salute::

Guys, I do apologize, but it appears that for a few months we have had a MASSIVE case of cross purposes. You see all this time IVE been talking about the Womens Ashes competiton (no jokes about our male team please:wink2:) whilst YOU guys were talking about the Mens Ashes series. I'm sure you will believe me when I tell you that I've always preferred the women's game and never watched what the guys were doing! :wink2:

So obviously this country is in the middle of huge victory celebrations as we prepare to welcome the ladies home..........nope I can't even type that with a straight face!!^&grin:wink2:

Many congrats to Australia for a ruthless series of victories , you were on fire in winning this back . Roll on the next series:salute::
Rob
