Ashes in Australia (1 Viewer)

Thanks for that. It has been refreshing to have a few wins after a dry spell. It goes to show that when a solid team gets on a roll they can be hard to stop. Got laugh at the Press in both countries - apparently our team went from useless to brillliant in ten days and England went from the best team in the world to one of the worst.

Luck does play a part. If all our bowlers had been fit Mitch Johnson was the seventh choice. He would not have even got a look in. When we lose I will try to be as sincere in congratulating you ... but I cannot promise anything!

Jack

My friend if either press said the sky was blue I'd have to go out and have a look! I don't think you need worry about losing though mate, I think Aus have their tails up and our chins are down, momentum in this great sporting event has swung back right back to Australia. I don't even think its a case of us being complacent after winning three in a row, it's just Australia playing the better Cricket. Who knows, if we lose this series it may get us coming back with a bit of fire in the olde belly.

One things for sure, ain't no Cricket competition can hold a candle to this one...even if you are bowling up a firestorm on our arses dagnabit!!:salute:::salute::

Thanks Rob, Marty probably said it all although I will promise to be sincere if we lose!!!

Tom

Don't worry mate, at this rate I think you're on for the whitewash!:rolleyes2::(:salute::

Thanks Rob,

The local paper has become an appalling tabloid. It even made the news over there regarding its treatment of Broad.

The luck and momentum have really gone Australia's way. England look tired. I read (in a better paper) that England's schedule has been fairly gruelling. I can never understand why countries don't have better preparation for their key series, like the Ashes. I know they have to earn the money but only because of the crazy, expensive bureaucracies they've created. Many times I think it all needs to be wound back and a heap of officials told to get real jobs rather than feeding of sportsmen.

I think the excuses have started already for a poor tour so far,EVERY team new of the back to back series months in advance no excuses.

They do indeed look tired and bereft of spirit right now , but they've had chance to prepare so I don't get it. I just think Aus are playing better by far right now and deserve their lead. But this game is swings and roundabouts isn't it, I doubt there is an Aussie among us on the forum who would not have thought it hilarious to suggest England could win three Ashes series on the bounce. Even the great Australian side that ruled world Cricket for so long eventually went into decline, it all goes round in cycles. If England get thrashed in this series which looks on the cards, the big thing for them will be rebuilding and coming back stronger as Australia have done. Still three games to go but I doubt they can even get the draw now. And I won't be blaming the heat either! I think some Aussie press let themselves down last summer moaning about the weather, it was the same weather for everyone.

The difference is Rob you can play in the heat not the rain,37+ here on Friday and 40+ Saturday Sunday, this is going to be good old Dry hot West Aussie heat not for the faint hearted......................^&grin

Yes everyones at fault. That stupid one day series in India was crazy for Australia - though it allowed Bailey to stake a claim and Johnson and Watson to get into some groove.

As for a three day break after Adelaide, usually a 5 day grind - I don't get why Australia does it - especially after what we suffered last year against Sth Africa?

Don't you mean we can play in the rain but not in the heat mate ^&confuse^&grin

I don't know how we keep on doing it but we appear to have got out of jail again. I recall the West Indies did this to us almost every test in the 1980s. As much as I think on it, I don't think there has been an Australian player that more consistently disappoints than Shane Watson. He clearly is so good, yet has almost nothing to show for it. I read in The Australian today that the biggest positive effect he's had for most teammates is his frequent injuries that allow them to get back in the side. Steve Smith looks a poor player to me, yet he's gone great today. This is why I don't bet on sport...

Thanks Rob. I had a bad, bad feeling at around lunch time. A few flashbacks of games that could not be lost! How good was Stokes' innings? Our press covered itself in glory again by now referring to him as 'the New Zealand born Stokes'.

Hey Jack, I think you were always going to win this series from the start , much stronger team and as I said before the closeness between the two sides of the last series just wasn't there this time. Fair play to Aus we were outplayed. Great for Stokes though, what an innings. As for Aussie press, as you say it's a shame they have to try and sour the atmos even more, but as we've said before both nations press are as bad and to be honest not many people give a flying fahula what either of them think!

Well done again Jack, lunch on me next summer!:salute::

I noted today that this is the first time in my son's life that we have held the Ashes. He's only three though! It's funny to think that despite England's dominance it's only been four years. I see Boycott saying that England has been in decline for a while but as they still kept winning, avoided the lessons they should've learned in the series earlier in the year against New Zealand and Australia. I spent the day painting my fence but had the radio beside me the whole time. It made a tiresome job seem not so bad! I like this Stokes!

Out-bloody-standing! the urn is home where it belongs, the difference this time is down to one thing...''BOOF'' Lehmann, he has got the guys believing in themselves again..BOOF for PM!
Wayne.

Yes, awesome stuff that the boys came through although i'll take my hat off to the Stokes bloke as he sure put up one heck of a fight!

I'll also second the suggestion for BOOF being PM mate! He certainly would do a better job than the idiots we have on both sides of the big house!!!
