Anybody catch the first playoff games yesterday? There were some good games and a surprise. First off, Halliday's historical no-hitter. He just plain dominated the Reds. Gave them no chance and I believe this might be a trend for the Phillies. They have an outstanding pitching rotation for the playoffs. Halliday, Oswalt, and Hamels will be tough for any opponent to decipher in consecutive games. The suprise was Texas beating the Rays on the Rays home field. I didn't expect it and Texas looked good doing it. NYY came back to beat the Twins, which has to hurt Twin morale. They had a 3 run lead and blew it, not to mention the scoring chances they had in the 8th inning and didn't produce anything. NYY needed that win because their starting pitching is going to be a thrill rolleyes after CC. That NYY hitting line-up is hard to keep down the whole game but a hot pitcher can do it. Just hope the NYY pitching holds up. One last congratulations to Halliday, that was a masterpiece he threw. Total of 104 pitches, only 25 balls. Faced 28 men and walked only one man. This means he threw only 21 balls to the other 27 men he faced. Superb performance. -- Al
