Baseball 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (2 Viewers)

My fears that the NYY starting pitching was going to be a liability are coming true. With the hitters also being bottled up, I'm not sure the NYY can survive much longer. They have been a disaster waiting to happen since Sept. and now the problems have come home to roost. The weak starting pitching, which was bailed out by the hitting, can not be hidden in the short series playoff format. I would love to see them advance but I don't think they can. If they do advance, I'm even unsure if they can be effective against either SF or the Phillies pitching. Still, they are the NYY, so who knows what mysterious forces will come into play? All I can say is Texas is playing well and earning their victories. Game 5 this afternoon will tell the tale. -- Al

Al,

In the last couple of games, it hasn't been the starting pitching that has been the major problem (even at 5-3 last night they were still in the game) but the bullpen: it has been exposed. I'm a little surprised by that.

Unfortunately, I don't get YES because I use Dish Network but what the hell has happened to Joba. He just looks terrible, not to mention overweight. Wonder if he'll be on the Yankees next year. All this screwing around with him in prior years may have affected him.

Ageed the bullpen has failed, along with everything else. Joba is a classic case of mishandling. All those stupid "rules" and indecision as to his role, is he a starter, is he a closer, is he mid-relief? Not surprised he doesn't have any confidence or any clue as to his role. I think his days are numbered, especially if Kerry Wood can fill the late innings gap to the closer. All in all The NYY have an age problem that will need to be addressed, soon. -- Al

When you are winning, that age is considered 'experience and savvy.'

When you are losing, it's just that 'we're to old.' It's a fine line...but since the Yankees tend to get players from free agency (signed at the peak of their careers), they will always deal with the issue of age.

Very true. It should be another interesting off season in the world of free agency. -- Al

Yes, the bullpen has failed.

And yes, the Yankees totally messed Chamberlain up, he was a rising star and they messed with him too much.

Give the kid a role and leave him there, end of story.

At this stage of his career, he should not be coming in trying to clean up someone elses mess, he should be either a starter or the bridge to Rivera, nothing else.

The Yankee bats picked the wrong time to go stone cold, basically everyone aside from Cano is ice cold, the Rangers pitching is good, but not that good, Lee being the exception.

Today is put up or go home, we'll see how Sherman Klump looks today, so far, he's been all over the place and mediocre at best in his two post seaons starts. Will the bats wake up or stay silent, we'll see.

The Yankees have lost three strait playoff games by 5 or more runs, which is a new record for them.

The Rangers have put together a very solid team, good defense, nice power (Hamilton is amazing, he hits bombs and rockets all over the place), good pitching, very good closer, a nice mix of young and old players, they should be good for awhile.

They had better sign Lee or else they will slip back to the pack; chances are slim they will, you know what happens when the NYY set their sights on someone, money is no object when it comes to that.

I am not sure I agree with the above - Joba seems to have been created by the PR department. IMHO he failed as a starter and has limited success as a reliever. Add to these minor problems is that he is packing on the weight and needs to spend the winter in the gym

Three years ago he was the setup man for Rivera and he blew everyone away. Then management tinkered with him, made him a starter and put in these stupid "Joba Rules" and then this year put him back in the pen. I think it screwed him up.

The best thing for him may be another location.

I'll take him on my team, anyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

His stuff is electric and at this stage of the game, the old "All he needs is a change of scenery" rule applies.

As Brad said, when he was the bridge to Mo, he was lights out............

This is another pitcher that would look good in Oriole black and orange........ -- Al

I didn't have much interest in MLB this year to begin with, but when I see Bonds throwing out the first pitch in SF and the fans going crazy that's the final straw. They should be ashamed. Instead MLB continues to glorify players like that. And what's with all those ads at Yankee stadium? They don't make enough money without pumping something on every available space. Talk about "Idiocracy" becoming reality.

Back to Texas and what do the NYY do for an effective starting pitcher now? CC wasn't sharp but he hung in there and Texas couldn't hit when it counted. Now who gets the call for NYY? I guess Hughes is the only option because if the NYY win game 6 they have to have Pettitte to face Lee. Can't pitch CC on 2 days rest. Have to get to game 7, first. -- Al

They've put themselves in a difficult situation by losing yesterday's game but you can only worry about Friday's game.

Lee is not god so they need to approach it that way.

Two runs on thirteen hits.

Back to Texas.

I'm sure the Rangers would much rather be going home up 3-2 than down 3-2; that said, if they don't close it out on Friday, someway, somehow, the Yankees will find a way to win game 7 in Texas, they have too many guys on that roster who have been there before.

We'll see what Hughes can do in game six vs Lewis, who was great in game two, while Hughes stunk.

My wife woke my up to tell me the Phils lost last night.

Depression is kicking in- looks like we peaked too soon. :(:(

Your wife woke you up? What kind of fan are you:confused:

As the ballplayers say, you'll have plenty of time to sleep this winter :)

:) Work is exhausting anymore.

I should stop leaving when my teams are ahead- I did that when Dallas and Miami played on Thanksgiving Day 94- Dallas was up, turned the TV off and went to eat, next thing I hear on ESPN, Miami blocks the FG and scores some kind of bizarre TD- Go Dallas!!:eek:

Dallas? Aren't you in Eagle country? At least root for the Steelers.

You've known me long enough now to know I have a tendency to walk on the wild side and instigate controversy and nothing is more controversial than wearing a Dallas sweatshirt in Eagle country:D

My wife is a Redskins fan- Theisman was her guy (before I met her :)).

I root for all the other Philly teams- Phils, Sixers and the Broad St Bullies- but yeah, Dallas is the red headed stepchild of the lot.

The Ravens are actually closer than Pittsburgh and the way things are going this year, I may actually jump ship and throw my lot in with Ray and Flacco.

WHEEWWWWW......

at least we're heading back to Philly- let's shut this thing down right.

Every time I look at Lincecum, I think Little League- these guys just seem to get younger every year-coz God know's I'm not getting older each year!! :D great pitcher either way.
