There is like 20 names on the list of possible suspensions. A-Rod, Cabrera (Melky and Everth), Braun, Colon, Cruz, are amongst them. Could get real ugly. -- Al

The Yankees paid him what, the national debt of Brazil and got one world series title out of it; to me, that's money well spent.....................:rolleyes2:...........not to mention his classic "slap the ball out of the pitchers hand on the way to first in the 2004 ALCS", where he was called out and Captain Intangibles, who scored on the play, had to go back to second, just about the most wonderful memory for me in that epic 2004 collapse.................

I don't think the Yankees want any part of him. I can't say I blame them.

Agree. One thing is for sure, no one else is going to want any part of him and that gigantic contract. If the Yanks say 'adios', that will finish him. -- Al

UGLY night for the Nats and O's so far. Nats down 10-1 to the Mets after 7 and the O's are down 9-1 to Houston after 4! Pitching failure all around and it is raining Hr's in Houston, who have hit 6 in the 4 innings. Momma always said there would be days like this.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Hey, we have to get one back after last night {eek3}

My son is going to the rubber match tonight and they are calling for rain. It figures. Might be the best thing that could happen to the Nats. Nothing going right, especially with Harper and Strasburg on the DL. We just can't hit. -- Al

To be honest, I'm surprised the Nats are in this situation (.500); I thought they would be the team to beat in the NL this year.

Well, I hope they get the game in and he has fun.

Brad, what's really frustrating is the Nats SHOULD have been the team to beat. They have the talent, especially in the pitching. Nothing has gone as planned. No one is hitting, especially with runners on, and the infield has been atrocious as a fielding unit, resulting in lots of unearned runs that have cost at least 4 games. Even the pitching hasn't been as effective as hoped. Dan Haren, signed as a vet to anchor the rotation, has been a disaster with a 4-7 record and an ERA of 5.5+. Last year's 21 game winner, Gonzalez, has been very inconsistent. Detwiler was poised for a breakout year but has been hurt and is on the DL. Strasburg has pitched well but has fallen victim to lack of run support, and is also on the DL. Only Zimmermann is having the year expected of him, but even he, with a 8-3 record, has lost 2 wins to bad fielding and no run support. All goes to prove that catching lightning in a bottle, such as in 2012, is incredibly hard to do 2 years in a row. Maybe things will improve when Harper, Strasburg, and Detwiler come off the DL in a couple of weeks. Even then, someone has to hit and field. -- Al

I see that Mark Teixeira has gotten back into the game. Just in time for the Yanks as Tex has come back with a Big Bang. He has played 7 games and has 3 Hr's and 8 Rbi's. Not to shabby, considering the layoff. -- Al

You should have heard the radiowaves here in NY. When Texeira was getting ready to come back, some fans said we don't need him back because Lyle Overbay is doing the job. Then the Mets swept them and people were calling for him immediately! Now, Texeira is a slow starter and after the first two games when he didn't have a hit, some fans were calling for him to be replaced. Unbelievable. Haven't heard from those fans in the last couple of days :rolleyes2:

Well, fans will be fans. Die-hard, faithful, loyal to the first loss.:tongue: -- Al

Just I thought the Angels were getting their act together, they get swept by Houston. Go figure. Was also rooting to see Jeremy Bonderman make a good return to the majors as he was starting for Seattle today (first game since 2010), but he got pounded and lost to the Twins. I guess just getting back to the majors is victory enough in this case. -- Al
Ol' Jeremy had an excellent 2nd start last night, going 6 as the Mariners beat the Yanks 4-1. Congratulations Mr. Bonderman. Pretty nice job. -- Al

The O's wake up in 4th place this AM, thanks to the failure, again, of their starting pitching. With Chen on the DL, the O's have 3 semi-reliable starters and 1 stop-gap, Garcia, that they can throw out there with a decent shot at staying competitive. For the most part, the 5th starter position is a complete disaster. Since the start of the season, this has been a problem with no apparent solution. The O's have used 6 different starters to fill the 5 spot and have gotten a grand total of 1, that's right, 1 win from them in 12 total starts, along with 6 losses. Within that horrid stat is another. Those 12 starts have only resulted in 1 Quality Start, (and that wasn't the recorded win{eek3}), plus, every one of those 6 starters has an ERA north of 6.6 runs. Add in Garcia's hit or miss starts, 7 starts with 3 QS, a 2-3 record, 4.70 ERA, and it becomes obvious that the O's need to find a quality starter from somewhere. A 3-9 record from the 4-5 rotation spots will leave them on the outside, looking in, in the long run of the summer schedule. The management better get on it, big time. For the moment, 4th place isn't the tragedy it might appear, as in the AL East, it is a 4 team race, at present. 4th place is only 3.5 games out of 1st, but expect that gap to widen if the O's can't do something with the rotation.:( -- Al

Don't worry Al, the Red Sox pitching is taking on water, Lester stinks on ice, Lackey coughed up a 6-0 lead the other night, Dubrond is up and down, Dempster is a dumpster fire and Buckholz, their ace, might be going on his annual trip to the DL.

Last night Lester got shelled by those plucky Rays and their smarmy, smartest guy in the room manager Maddon, by the looks of things last night was "Come dressed as an blue empty seat night" at the Trop, what a rabid fan base they've got down there, 4 games out of first and they can't draw flies......................
