Don't worry Al, the Red Sox pitching is taking on water, Lester stinks on ice, Lackey coughed up a 6-0 lead the other night, Dubrond is up and down, Dempster is a dumpster fire and Buckholz, their ace, might be going on his annual trip to the DL.

Last night Lester got shelled by those plucky Rays and their smarmy, smartest guy in the room manager Maddon, by the looks of things last night was "Come dressed as an blue empty seat night" at the Trop, what a rabid fan base they've got down there, 4 games out of first and they can't draw flies......................
I saw some of the 'crowd' photos. Pitiful. Just as soon as I complain about the O's starters, they rip off 3 straight good efforts.:redface2: All they have to do is repeat it about 30 more times. I'm still impressed at how well the Sox are doing. They can put up some runs. Season is 66 games in and the Sox have 1st place in the AL East. Pretty good.:wink2: -- Al

The Red Sox have been in first place in April, May and June more times than I can count, only to finish second or third, so while it's nice to see considering how low my expectations were for this team, I am not going to get ahead of myself with them, not to mention the Bruins will have my attention hopefully for about another ten days or so.............;0...........

This has been a long strange weathered vacation here in Virginia this week but finally going to catch the orioles at home tonite!! We have great seats and hope we can get another win vs. Sox tonite...sammy

Enjoy the game Sammy. Tillman going for the O's and he has been pretty good. O's back in 2nd, and closing.:wink2: -- Al

The O's win!!!!! Great game . Time for some fireworks now!!...sammy
Beat me to it, Sammy. Tillman is becoming their ace. Only 1.5 games back now. O's looking good and even getting some decent starting pitching over the last several games. If that pitching comes around and stays for a while, the O's will be hard to beat. -- Al

Sammy, I'm sure you'll celebrate with a few hard crabs and Nat'l Boh's. :wink2: Wish I could join you! Chris

Actually Chris we went crabbing on the eastern shore last week caught about a half bushel, not bad considering the weather, so had some steamed crabs, picked a bunch for crab cakes the next day, oh so delishious!!! And of course the nattys were flowing very well indeed :)...sammy

I am embarrassed to admit that as a native Marylander it has been a while since I have been to an actual Maryland-style crab feast. However, I do remember that little can equal or beat the joy of Maryland steamed crabs, O's baseball, ice-cold beer, and good friends on a hot summer day. Glad you had a good time Sammy, and got to see the O's play a great game. -- Al

Oh my al, you must get back out there:) I did a lot of stuff on this vacation but one of the most enjoyable was getting up early, loading the trout line and getting out in the bay!!! Nothing like seeing those blues when they roll up to the top and snag in the net (missed a few as little rusty) :) but a blast it was, I 'll post some pics of them when I get home...sammy

Sammy, that's awesome! You're bringing back a lot of fond memories of summer vacations spent crabbing as a kid at St Mary's. We used to catch soft shells in the shallows. Enjoy my friend! Chris

the Orioles take 3 of 4 from the Sox in a series we really needed, not now the O's have detroit for 3 games and will need to play even better to keep up in the AL East...Sammy

Once again, the O's #5 starting pitcher, aka, 'stop-gap loser of the day', has sabotaged an O's hot streak. Arrieta gets shelled, losing 5-1 to Detroit, leaving the #5 starters at 1-7 in 14 starts. Arrieta keeps getting chances and keeps failing. At 27 years of age, I have to believe he is running out of chances with the O's. He has been with the team 4 years now and his ERA has gone up each year with his win total regressing each of the past 2 seasons. His 2010 season showed his promise, but it hasn't panned out. Anyway, the O's better spend the bankroll for a legitimate ace to make a pennant run. Cliff Lee might like a short trip down I-95. -- Al

Nats lose again, to fall below .500 again, at 34-35. If only they could hit a baseball.:rolleyes2: They have now scored a grand total of 58 runs in their 35 losses, being shutout 8 times. Their offense is BAD! -- Al

The latest 'stop-gap loser of the day' for the O's, Zach Britton, probably saved his O's career tonight. As another promising pitcher that has failed time and again, he was given another chance tonight and CAME THROUGH big time by going 5 innings and giving up only 1 run, outdueling Verlander, and winning the game 5-2 over the Tigers. Good for him. Maybe the O's have a #5 starter at long last. At any rate, beating Verlander is noteworthy. ^&grin -- Al

As the season approaches the halfway point, the AL East is beginning to get a bad case of congestion with all 5 teams at .500 or better and the last place Jays only 7 games out. The O's continue to crush the ball which continues to mask the so-so starting pitching but I like their chances. Chris Davis is absolutely killing the baseball and has anyone noticed that 4 O's are currently leading the voting in their positions for the All-Star game? If Cabrera from Detroit wasn't leading at 3rd base, the O's would be leading in 5 positions. Cabrera and Davis are 1-2 in the top 3 batting stats with Davis leading in Hr's 27-20. Cabrera leads in RBI's 74-69 and BA. .368 to .336. An MVP race if I ever saw one.
The Nats SEEM to be waking up a little bit but they are still flailing around at only 1 game over .500 but their pitching has kept them within 5 games of first-place Atlanta in the NL East. Led by Jordan Zimmermann's 10 wins and 2.26 ERA, 3 of the other 4 starters have ERA's under 3.50, at 2.40, 3.34, 3.34, with only Haren's 5.72 being a disaster. However, because of the feeble hitting, the low ERA's have not translated to wins for anyone but Zimmermann. Last year's 21 game winner, Gonzalez, is only 3-3, while Strasburg is 4-6, Detwiler 2-5, and Haren brings up the rear in terms of losses with a 4-8 record. His 4 wins are fortunate, given his ERA. He really hasn't pitched well. Hopefully the 2nd half of the season will bring with it some runs for the Nat's offense, otherwise DJ ain't going to make the World series in his final year.:wink2: -- Al

here's a pic of our seats last week at the Boston game, I know I'm biased here but Camden Yards is just a beautiful ball park, can't wait to go back for the playoffs:)...Sammy

Looks like Toronto has figured it out. 10 in a row is pretty good.:rolleyes2: The true AL East race now begins... -- Al

Yup, the Jays whipped out bisciuts today:( now looks like the AL East is all bunched up, hope my O's can get back to winning, with a 7 game homestand we need it...Sammy

Sure hope so. It was bad this weekend. Now everyone is in it, 5 game difference from first to last. Once again the closest and most competitive division in MLB. I still like the O's chances with that offense, but they still have to find a 4 & 5 starter. -- Al
