George, odd thing is, 10-15 years ago, Davis would have been lost in the crowd. :rolleyes2: -- Al
Great point.
He's sticking out like a sore thumb right now and that's not good.

Don't even want to think about THAT possibility. Would prefer to think it is a natural blossoming of tremendous talent.:wink2: -- AlGreat point.

George, I have to admit that the Sox rate as the biggest surprise of the season. They just keep winning. They refuse to wilt or slump. Good team. -- AlOrioles lose (again), Red Sox win (again), lead now up to 5.5 in the AL East.
And the Yankees are getting hot right now, just .5 games behind the go go Orioles.
The Red Sox need to survive this 10 game west coast swing and get home after the All Star break, they've got 13 out of 15 at home to start the second half.

I should better know than to show hope. Game after I post the above, ex-Nats pitcher John Lannan completely shuts the Nats new-found offense down. Shut them out over 8 innings and only a 2 run rally against Phillies closer Papelbon in the 9th prevented the Nats from being shutout for the 10th time, losing 3-2. Up-down, up-down. The rollercoaster ride continues for the Nats.:rolleyes2: -- AlPerhaps the MIA Nat's offense has finally decided to show up. I say perhaps based on scanty but recent evidence. In the first 80 games of the season the Nats scored 8 or more runs in a game 4 times. Pretty bad. Over the last 8 games ( since Harper and Ramos have come off the DL), the Nats have scored 8 or more runs 5 times. They have gone 6-2 in those games after being 40-40 over the first 80. Coincidence or a moribund offense coming around or both? Don't care as long as they keep it up.^&grin -- Al
Brad, your Mets sure seem to get more than their share of long, extra inning games. By my count they have played 11 OT games this year. In July alone they have gone 13, 15, and 16 innings. And don't forget their 20 inning marathon in June. I think they have played 4 games of 15 or more innings so far this season. I wonder if the stadium employees can file for OT. Makes for some late nights.:wink2:^&grin -- AlMets are on the West Coast and played the Giants last night. Game started at 10 and after 10 innings it was tied. It was also 1am so I went to bed. However, I forgot to turn off the iPhone and at 3 I woke up and it was flashing as I'd left it on the game sight. The game was still going on and it was the 15th inning {eek3} Back to bed. Up a few hours later and I see they won in the 16th. Yay! ^&cool
The Mets Matt Harvey is having a great year for a so-so team. Looking at his 7-2 record is a bit deceiving as to how well he has really pitched. With a timely run here or there Harvey's record could just as well be 12-1. He has been very effective, start after start, having 15 Quality Starts out of 19 total, and pitching to an outstanding 2.35 ERA. He has given up 2 or fewer runs in 13 of those starts. Mets fans have to be excited about his future. Brad, the Mets better tie him in to a long term contract.:wink2: -- AlAnother late night (I hate West Coast trips) but a successful one. Fortunately, today is a day game so I can get to bed at a decent hour.
Unbelievable to think but the Mets and the Giants basically have the same record.
Brad, I have a TS and book collection worth that much, but absolutely no seats worthy of that kind of money!:wink2:^&grin -- AlSince the All Star Game is at Citifield and thinking it might be nice to go, I went on Stubhub last night to see how much tickets were. The cheapest seat, which I think must be located in Al's or George's living room, is $350 or something like that. Next! {eek3}
Hi Chris. Glad to see you posting. Also glad you got to Camden Yards, which really is a first-class ballpark, and even better now that the O's are once again putting good teams on the field. Hope you and your son get to go to a game there. Nothing in the rules about not liking more than one team.:wink2: -- AlFINALLY got out of the office last night and went with an associate who took me to see my first O's game at Camden. It was really exciting- what a pretty park. The team has a lot of talent. Now I got to get my little guy to a game there though he'd rather see the Phils and his hero Utley.
George- I checked the obits this morning and 3 Rays fans checked out last night so the count is now 414!!! LOL {sm4}
