Baseball 2014 (2 Viewers)

Game 1 masacree. O's - 1 , Cy Young winner - 0. One down, two to go. We ain't afraid of no Cy Young winners.:wink2: All kidding aside, the Tiger's bullpen didn't look too good. -- Al

Their fielding wasn't so hot either. :wink2: GO Os!! Chris

Game 1 was a classic 2014 O's victory. Buck lined up his pitchers just as he has all year and the hitters came through in O's fashion, thus the victory. I think that if things continue to line up, pitching wise, for the O's, ie., they get 5-6 good innings from their starter and the bullpen is used as usual, the Tigers are in trouble. I don't think the Tigers pitching is deep enough once you get past their Big 3. The key being 5-6 good innings to get to the bullpen. -- Al

Just a note on the O's bullpen, there is one guy I'm a bit concerned about and that is Darren O'Day. He has been a mainstay of the pen, their most effective pitcher all season. After giving up a total of 6 earned runs (including only 3 Hr's) in 59.2 innings through August, he has yielded 8 earned runs (and 3 Hr's) in his last 10 innings through September and October. 4 of those runs came in one game early in September, but it is a worrying trend. The O's need O'Day right if the bullpen is to line up correctly. -- Al

KC takes Game 1 in 11 innings. Didn't see this coming. KC has got that 'little engine that could' thing going on right now. -- Al

One game does not a season make and Angels have not played well since they clinched the division; nothing to play for.

Royals are a nice little team but let's not go crazy after one game.

That nice little team only needs two wins to put away the mighty Angels, if they aren't careful the Angels will be watching the ALCS from the side lines...Sammy

If they lose today, then they are in trouble but let's not get carried away until then.

What a great day for the baseball fan. Four games lined up, one after the other, starting at noon and ending at midnight. My Masters Degree in Couch Potato is about to pay big dividends. Play ball! ^&grin^&grin^&grin -- Al

Nick is the man, but it wasn't Chen's day.:( Now for a come-from-behind rally. -- Al

A little bit of 8th inning lightning provided by Delmon Young, another epic fail by the Tiger bullpen, Gausman's excellent relief, and the Tigers are down 2-0 and in deep doo-doo. The O's just don't give up. -- Al

Tiger's bullpen loses another game. Jaba Chamberlain and Soria cost us two loses. I hope the Tigers lose one more. They shold not be in the playoff's. Also some bad Tiger base running like Caberra waddling to home plate. J:mad:

Giants getting to Strasburg. He's not sharp today and is failing to finish batters when he's ahead in the count, a bad tendency. Peavy is on his game. Nats have to find their magic. -- Al

The O's could give up entirely and the Tigers pen will still figure out a way to lose the game. This is soooooo discouraging:mad:

I'm a Red Sox fan; that said, watching the O's/Tigers game, I wanted to smash something with a hammer.

First off, what is the third base coach doing sending Miggy, he rounded third with a piano on his back and got thrown out at home; if he held him, it's 2nd and 3rd with no outs, then right as rain, the next batter hits a fly ball to right deep enough to have scored him would have been 7-3, unbelievable.

Then Sanchez is mowing down the Orioles, so he gets yanked for Joba, who hits a batter, then gives up two base hits and a run, leading to another pitching change and Delmond Young clears the bases (Jesus, he's still in baseball, I thought he died four years ago)...................ballgame, 7-6 Orioles.

The Tigers have no bullpen, talk about frustrating.

Just maddening really.

It all comes down to Price; sorry, it's over......................

Got a barn-burner going in DC. SF up 3-2 going into the 8th. Nats have 2 solo Hr's in the 7th inning after trailing 3-0. Thank goodness Peavy is out of the game. He stopped the Nats hitters dead. Bullpens are a real love/hate relationship. -- Al

Al:

Peavy clearly matches up well with the Nats hitters. Game 2 should be excellent as well.

That is the truth. Zimmermann is our best and Hudson has always hurt the Nats. Another one like today and I will have no nails left. Will have to type these posts with my knuckles. :rolleyes2: Peavy was outstanding and deserved the win. -- Al
