Baseball 2014 (2 Viewers)

Even two games doesn't mean it's over with these two but for the Tigers it is. Based on their consistency the whole year, to me the team to beat are the Orioles.

So much for the big pitching showdown between Kershaw and Wainwright. Wainwright got lit up like the Griswold's Christmas tree. My crystal ball is on the blink today.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Agreed; if they don't get to the WS, I'll be stunned.

No doubt about it, it's their year, everything has gone their way so far.

Kershaw is just incredible.

And speaking of incredible, the Dodgers have a bubble machine in their dugout?

Jesus, leave it to them for that one.........................

Guess what? Kershaw just got the stuffing beat out of him. Kershaw had a 6-2 lead. He just got knocked out in the 7th, now trailing 7-6. Woulda bet the farm this was a 1-0 or 2-1 game but now neither of the starters are in and neither can win. Go figure. -- Al

Mattingly doing his best Grady Little impression there.................what a boob................and what an incredible at bat by Carpenter, not to mention a room service meatball by Kershaw.

George:

I really, really want to dislike Kershaw as he is a Dodger and all of that. However, I just can't. Not only is he the best pitcher in baseball he is also a great guy of off the field too.

I also feel the same way about Matt Kemp to a lesser extent. He is arrogant and full of himself. But then he went out of his way for a Dodger's fan at a Giant's home game in a pretty spectacular way. Ever since then I begrudgingly like him.

Here is the YouTube link to the Kemp move:

Holliday hits one into the Pacific Ocean; what a bomb that was, no cheapies from him...........

Now the Dodger relief pitcher throws a gopher ball and it's 10-6, St. Loo. What a game. You gotta love baseball. -- Al

The key to winning in the MLB post season is your bullpen; sorry, but your starters are gassed after 162 games, it's the pen that wins games in October.

Just ask the Tigers.............or the Dodgers.

MLB needs to put more thought into these schedules. Both these current games are red vs blue. Who am I watching. Cards or Angels? Royals or Dodgers? I can't be expected to keep all this straight at my age, this late at night. -- Al

What a game. Dodgers lose 10-9 after getting the tying run to third in the bottom of the 9th. No one can say these games have been boring or predictable. What a ride. Kershaw is now the only starting pitcher in MLB history to give up 7 earned runs in consecutive post-season starts. Jeesh. Who'd have guessed. -- Al

What an idiotic play by Cowgill, with Calhoun and Trout coming up. Just a poor decision.

This Angels-Royals game is a terrific pitching duel. Going to be a shame to see someone lose this one. Into the 9th at 1-1. -- Al

They have the wrong Beckham in there: we need someone who can score some goals!

They are Jason but have given no indication of doing so. After they clinched the West, it seemed as if they took the foot of the pedal because they played dreadfully after that. They were swept by the Mariners in the last series if the regular season. True, they had nothing to play for but you don't want to head into the post season that way. I was listening to the Angels radio telecast and even the main announcer, Terry Smith, noted how during the game the Royals dugout was alive and cheering on their team while the Angels dugout was quiet.

Few teams can turn it on and off. The Yankees of the late 90s and early 2000s seemed capable of doing that but this Angels is not of that caliber.

Primary culprits seem to be Trout and Hamilton. Although Trout will probably win MVP, average wise, he was not great this year. If you look at last year's stats, he drove in runs and hit HRs while maintaining a high average.

Hamilton, he just seems to swing at everything.
