0-4? Sorry, you don't get off that easy. Whatever, the record we stick with our teams.

Brad, I've been with the 'Crew since 1982 and I'm not going anywhere else! We seem to follow one of two patterns:

1) Get off to a fast start, hold the division lead much of the year, and blow it at the end, or...
2) Stink right out of the gate.

Unfortunately this already has the feel of #2. We did little in the off-season...and last year a number of guys played out of their minds. I can't expect that two years in a row.

Look at us...a Mets fan and a Brewers fan both trying to get a bit of hope. Boy do we have years of experience...

Bumgarner got shelled tonight, he gave up 10 hits in 3 innings. Whew, I am hoping he is not injured and this game is just an anomaly.

Nats off to slow start. Starting pitching is fine but nothing else is. They can't field, hit, score, and the relief pitching is below par. No panic until June because it took them that long last year to reach .500, so I will be patient for a while but I will say that Williams now seems to be sticking with his pitchers longer, good or bad. I am sure this is because of the fast hook fiasco against SF last year. Live and learn. -- Al

Well one week in for my O's and it aint pretty, 3-3 and surprisingly it's not the scoring it's the pitching that sucks!! I was worried with Hardy, Weiters out runs would be tough to come by but not much of a drop off there actually scoring very well, but the strength of the O's last year was solid pitching and the bull pen, not the case at the moment, I know we're only finishing the first week but hate to come out of the gates giving up 10-12 runs in a series with 2 of our best pitchers, evil Yankees coming to town so hope we can get back to better play...Sammy

So far it's a decent start for the Mets. They have a big homestand (9 remaining) and they have to do well as there are expectations. If they get out of the gate slowly, the manager will be gone. They're not exactly tearing the cover off the ball but the starting pitching has been good. Bullpen is a question and is even more so since their fool closer is gone for 80 games for taking PEDs.

National are too good not to do well and Giants should come around.

Just got back from the home opener; looks like Mookie Betts is a keeper. If this team trades him, the fans will storm the castle.

The Nationals outfield looked like a three ring circus out there today; small tip for you fellas having played in that outfield a couple of times...............wind direction is NOT based on the flags in the outfield.

It's the flag near home plate.

Fans left the park happy, everyone is happy.

Oh, except for the good folks in Seattle; for what reason, I have no idea, I only go by what I read....................

George, appreciate you being polite in regards to the Nats fielding abilities today. I do not recall a more incompetent display of fielding by the Nats in their 10 year history. All I could do was laugh after the 2nd fly ball dropped. Nats have looked horrid so far this year. Hope we can give the Red Sox a better game tomorrow.:redface2: -- Al

Trust me Al, it's not them, it's the ballpark. Also, they've built some taller buildings around the park in recent years and I heard the wind patterns are effected as a result, mostly during day games, plus the sun is brutal out there, specifically right field later in the day.

Don't know if you recall or not, but in the 1978 playoff game between the Red Sox and Yankees, in the 9th inning a rocket went to right field and Pinella was standing there with both arms out in the "Where the @#$& is the ball?", then as it landed, he lunged to his right and snagged it, keeping it to a single putting runners at 1st and 2nd.

If the ball had gotten by him, it would have been an inside the park two run home run and the Sox would have won the game.

Right field is really, really bad during late day games................

Thanks for that, George, but the Nats can not field squat right now. Same problem the last couple of years early on. They are just really slow starting out of the gate, so I remain patient, for now.:wink2: -- Al

Sox were up 5-1 on the Senators and were cruising along, then a fifth inning meltdown and it's 7-5 Senators.

Sox scored 3 runs in the 7th without the benefit of a single hit.

Sox win, 8-7.

Weird, goofy game.........

I think you mean Nationals unless they're playing Ottawa {eek3}

They may be called the Nationals, but they'll always be the Senators to me. They had a Williams managing them when I was a kid and they've got a Williams managing them now. He'd pull his hair out watching this team if he had any left to pull out.

Different league however. The original Senators now play in Minnesota and their replacements in Texas.

Nats keep finding a way to lose. The April blahs sure have hold of them right now.:redface2: Hopefully they will snap out of it before the All-Star game.:rolleyes2: - Al

Wow, so there was a Senators team before the second Senators? So this is the third franchise in Washington?

Yup. When the AL expanded in 1960 and added the Angels, Clark Griffith moved the Senators to Minnesota and they became the Twins. A new Senators team was started that, to put it mildly, was never too good. In 1971 or 1972 (forget which), the Senators owner Bob Short moved the team to Texas and they became the Rangers. As I've mentioned a few times, I was at the last Senators home game. It was one of those events you never forget.

Nationals are the old Expos. I don't think MLB (which owned the team for awhile) didn't want to have anything to do with the Senators moniker.
