Baseball 2015 (3 Viewers)

Timmy L continues to look good and is actually SF's best starter right now, by the numbers, with a 4-2 record and a 2.08 ERA. SF is in 2nd place and is currently the hottest team in the NL West. Been getting some good pitching. -- Al

Al:

Lincecum is looking great and has pitched well against some really good teams. He is also moving up the Giants all time strikeout list as well, passing Carl Hubbell last night for fourth.

Hmmm...how did that pine tar get on Will Smith's arm??

I'm sure it was an accident.

The Brewers don't even cheat very well!

The best one ever was the clambrain who pitched for the MFY's with a big glob of it smeared on his neck; the whole world could see it and he was upset when he got tossed like "What did I do wrong?".........................if you're going to cheat, do it correctly, not like a halfwit.

What makes the Will Smith one so great is that he said it was sunscreen.

For a night game in the 7th inning?

O's lefty relief pitcher Brian Matusz was just tossed out of the game in the bottom of the 12th inning of a 0-0 game for a foreign substance on his arm. Only went 2/3 of an inning before being called on it. Second ML pitcher to be nailed this week. Game moves to the 13th... -- Al

Alas, O's lost this one, 1-0, in 13. Terrifically pitched game. Bad day for my teams as the Nats got their head handed to them, also. Strasburg got shelled, again, and the final was 8-1. Strasburg has been a puzzle this season, with most of his starts being just plain bad. He doesn't seem to be hurt but he has been so ineffective that I am beginning to cringe when his turn comes up. He has had only 1 quality start in 9 goes, and the Nats are only 3-6 when he pitches. Hope he gets the problem straightened out. The fact of the matter is that from 2013 through today, he is a .500 pitcher on a winning team. Whatever he's doing needs to improve. -- Al

Harvey joined Strasburg in having a bad outing, his worst ever: 7 runs.

Mets continue to flounder and no timetable for Wright's return. He's been shut down again. He's becoming the Tulowitzky of the East.

Would like to know how AJ Burnett is doing what he is doing. He has fooled me as I thought he was all but finished after last year's terrible season with Philly. He was 8-18 with a 4.59 ERA and just looked like an inning-eater at the end of his career. He has completely turned that around this year back as a Pirate. He has 8 quality starts in 9 turns and has given up as many as 2 runs only twice. With any luck he could easily be 9-0 right now, instead of 4-1. His ERA leads MLB at 1.37, quite a ways below his lifetime ERA of 3.98. Great story in the making if it continues. -- Al

I read where Wright has stenosis. Back problems are so unpredictable. At least they know what the problem is.
The 2 aces had bad days, for sure, but Harvey has been lights out all season whereas Strasburg can't get his grandmother out, so far, this season. Right now there is no comparison between the 2 of them. I don't like the trend for Strasburg. -- Al

The stenosis could derail his career. It's hard to say. Without him, they are in huge trouble. Collins may not survive this.

Mets are on the way to getting swept.

Can't believe that the O's lost 2 of 3 to the Marlins, doormat of the NL East. They just can't get any momentum going. Beginning to tick me off. -- Al

I'm still willing to bit a bit patient with all this. I am a bit disturbed by the tendency to these very slow starts. Being 8 games back in April may not be a disaster in itself, but it is a slippery slope. Williams, after being handed a winning hand with this team last year, blew the big moves in the playoffs and so far this season has not exhibited an ability to come up with the answers, yet. Of course, all my angst and doubt goes away with a 22-3 run.:rolleyes2: I'm afraid, as hot as the Mets are, that another 20 games like the first 20 games will bury the Nats. Perhaps a hot hitter or two with that toupee full of brains would help some... -- Al
Well, I didn't get my 22-3 run by the Nats, as I hoped for in the above statement, but I will settle for the 20-5 run that they have gone on since the April 28 comeback win against Atlanta. The Nats won today against the Cubs, 2-1, to go from 7-13 on April 27 to 27-18 today. I know they have to cool off at some point, but this run has been fun. -- Al

Can't figure this team out Al, then today that beat one of the hottest teams in baseball in the Stros?? and if TB loses tonite then the O's are only 2 out?{eek3} and that's again with a ton of injuries all season to different starters, it took until mid June for the Orioles to figure it out last year hoping the same rules in 2015...Sammy

Yeah Sammy, I can't figure them either but they are hanging close and no one else seems to want to run off and hide. Once Tillman and Norris get their acts together, I like the O's chances better than any one else's. Luckily there are a lot of spinning wheels right now.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

Also looks like Weiters may be back by June's end, I look forward to tommorow as Weiters is catching for Dylan Bundy (triple A), hopefully a Fall preview and if this guy Wright is for real then we really have a better shot of having a decent rotation...Sammy

True dat. Bundy is rounding into shape and his velocity is coming back according to the local O's show. As for Weiters, I'll be glad to see him back but Joseph has done a nice job in his place. Some speculation that Weiters could be in his last year with the O's (too much money). Wright has looked real good. Hope he is the real deal. -- Al

The O's biggest problem is their record on the road. It shows the fewest wins in MLB and thus the worst road record in MLB at 6-13. mprove that a little bit and I think 1st place will be theirs. -- Al

How crazy are these records?? here we are headed into June and with one lucky/unlucky series you can go from first to last or vice versa!!! unreal, I'm sure the AL East has had some good races before but it's been awhile and the medicore play of all 5 teams looks to be real and really can't see anyone pulling away for awhile, like I said keeps it interesting.. all Summer I guess:)...Sammy

Indeed. Don't blink or take the weekend off as a rude surprise could await you.^&grin -- Al

Chris Davis saved the Birds today. Swatted 2, and #2 was a game winner.^&grin -- Al
