Some encouraging performances for the O's to grab onto over the weekend. Both struggling pitchers, Tillman and Norris, turned in good games for the Birds in their two wins. To highlight their importance to the O's all one has to do is compare Tillman and Norris' numbers between last year and this year. The O's are currently 4 games under .500 @ 26-30, with Tillman and Norris having a combined 5-11 record. Last season at this time the two of them were a combined 10-7. They both finished big over the last part of the season, combining for a 18-7 record, mid-June through the end, finishing the season at a combined 28-14, a long way from the current record. Perhaps the weekend showings are indications that Tillman and Norris are back to form and ready to lead an O's charge from here on out. Anyway, a little consistency would be nice. :wink2: -- Al
Completely agree, Chris. Whether they admit it or not, losing Cruz and Markakis has had a definite impact on the offense, and IMO, clubhouse leadership/morale. -- A;Don't think it's all pitching, although I haven't compared stats with last yr. Os are missing Cruz this yr. Chris
The line was a little unusual as the Mets had 3 baserunners, all HBP, no walks and 11 K's. Odd line. -- AlAnother great in Mets history: they get no hit by a rookie -- at home :redface2:

Heck of a game. He was also the only pitcher to throw a no-no and put 3 men on base via HBP. I was impressed by the 0 walks. -- AlHeston also struck out the final 3 batters he faced, becoming the first pitcher to seal his no-hitter in that fashion since Koufax did it in 1965.
For once Chen got a little run support. Jones has been heating up the last few games. -- AlOs beat Boston 5-2 with a very nice diving catch by Jones. First win at home this yr for Chen. Os are 5-1 in last six games. ^&grin Chris
It was pretty pathetic from my perspective. Of course, with no Wright, Murphy or d'Arnaud his job was a little easier. Remains to be seen whether at 27 he turns out to be something. Most don't.
How much longer will John Farrell last in Boston? I am hoping George can weigh in with how the locals feel about it?
Wieters and now Riemold (he of annual hope and deep potential) back in the line-up. Tillman has won 2 in a row. I can feel Big Mo cranking up.:wink2: -- AlO's sweep the Sawx!!!! setting up the biggest series of the year against the evil Yanks with a 4 gamer at Camden Yards, 4 out man a sweep would be delicious about now!!! not seeing a sweep but hoping we take 3 at least, not sure exactly but I think with Wieters back in the line up the O's are 6 wins of of 7 games, just say'n...Sammy
