Nice 9 innings from Holland to complete the sweep of the O's . Houston losing helped the cause too as we have to play them 7 times in September .
Brad, our boys aren't playing well, to put it mildly. The Angels still have a realistic shot at the WC, but I doubt the O's do. The O's troubles are approaching collapse proportions. At any rate, I don't believe a team at or around .500 belongs in the playoffs so it is the old saying, "Wait till next year", for the O's anyway. -- AlLooking at the AL WC standings, Os are 1-9 and Halos continue to lose; Trout has shown he's human by having around a .200 August, just simply awful although he got four hits today.
Twins are hot and don't look now but the Tribe is moving up fast.
Arrieta making a strong case for the Cy Young. Leads 2-0 after 8 innings of no-hit ball. I'm thinking the O's should have been more patient with him. Shoulda, woulda, coulda... -- AlGiants lose, but the Cubs are holding off the Dodgers for now.
Whew, biting my nails off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He did it. Wins 2-0 with the no-hitter. Beautiful game.:salute:: -- AlArrieta making a strong case for the Cy Young. Leads 2-0 after 8 innings of no-hit ball. I'm thinking the O's should have been more patient with him. Shoulda, woulda, coulda... -- Al
You're right Al. He probably has a leg up on Cy.
Arrieta is just one of those stories. It wasn't happening as fast as the O's wanted so they threw in the towel on him. He is one of the many players that fail or don't do well with one team, for whatever reason, and then blossom with a new team in a different town. I'm glad for him and sorry for the O's, but it's just one of those things. -- AlTeams always make trades that seem to come back and bite them. The Nolan Ryan trade the Mets made (Ryan for Fregosi) was a bad one as was the Kazmir trade for some stiff on the Rays. I'm sure every team has their own horror story.

Brad, you may not believe this, but prior to the series that year, I was a big fan of the Mets. I absolutely loved that pitching staff. How could you not like Seaver, Koosman, Ryan, Gentry, McAndrew and Tug McGraw. Heck, I even liked Don Cardwell. If they had faced anyone but the O's, I would have been cheering with all the other NY fans.^&grin -- AlRyan and Seaver were on the same staff in 69 (shh, don't tell Al), not to mention Jerry Koosman, a great pitcher, who, without checking, wound up his career with the Twins I think (since he was from Minnesota).
