Put it in the books!

BIG win for the Mets. They beat Kershaw and can now afford a split in LA whereas LA has no margin of safety. With only 2 viable aces against the Mets 3, Mets can take a 1-1 tie to NY with 2 good pitchers up while LA will be scrambling. I like the Mets chances. -- Al

These games are too stressful but Murph came up big as did the Captain, as well as Familia.

Two sour notes: Cespedes was 0-4 and Clippard struggles continue. I would go with Reed in the 8th.

Tomorrow is gravy. Let's hope Noah is ready.

Terry just said that he's not rethinking the Clippard Reed tandem so let's hope Clippard is better the next time.

Congrats, Brad..NICE WIN. I watched part of the game including Wright's big hit. I will be rooting for the Mets..just a sucker for underdogs. Michael

If the Dodgers lose this series, Donnie Ballgame will probably get bounced.

Gee, what a shame that Gonzalez and Crawford came up small last night; two cry babies who shot their way out of Boston to LA, where the fans are less passionate and there's "Not as much stress" according to Gonzalez.

You're down 1-zip, time to amp up the stress.

The left fielder for the Mets should be wearing a butchers smock, not a uniform, his routes to fly balls are a disaster, stick him in right to hide him.

The NL is a pitchers league, two great duels last night by four outstanding pitchers.

The AL is a hitters league; in the playofffs, good pitching usually trumps good hitting.

The Jays, just about everyone's pick to advance to the WS and win it, are one game away from going home.

Sometimes, baseball is a funny sport........................

Just in awe of the Cardinals; what an organization, they just keep rolling along, plugging in new guys from their farm system. They don't buy championships, they earn them by doing excellent scouting, drafting and player development.

They've got a very good manager too, which helps.

Today is going to be a fun day; Red River showdown at noon, then back to back NLDS games starting at 5:30, then baseball and NFL football tomorrow.

With five shows coming up over the next eight weeks, the couch is going to get a good workout this weekend..................

Thanks Michael. I would love to get this game today so there is no chance of returning to LA.

However, if it comes to that deGrom will be the choice.

It's early yet, but the Cardinals are in trouble, down 5-1 in the third with Arietta looming on Monday.

Could be adios in round one..............again, very early, but 5-1 is quite a hole to dig out of.

Cardinals down now 6-3; three solo home runs, they need to get runners on base ahead of the home runs.

Cubs with that rinky dink small ball NL crap; bunts, advancing and getting on base via errors, stolen bases, ground outs scoring runs.

Lets go Redbirds.......................

It's early, but I like what I see so far as the Mets are smacking Greinke a bit. A 2-0 lead in this type of pitching match-up is huge. -- Al

If Cespedes gets going, they will be tough to beat.
It would be a good time for him to get hot. He hasn't been for the last month, going 17 for his last 77 Ab's, with 8 RBI's in his last 22 games. If he heats up now, he can carry them. -- Al

Dodgers are fanning in droves. 19 in 12 innings over the 2 games, so far. -- Al

The Dodgers never seem to hit in the playoffs. Their one-two punch of Kershaw and Greinke might only give up about 2 runs, but that is more than enough for the Mets if the Dodgers barely scrape together 1 run.

Amateur hour on the medical team. Air splint on what might be a fracture and they help the guy walk on it? What's the point? Either they think it's broken and he is therefore a stretcher case, or it's not broken and doesn't need the air splint. Plus the runner is safe. Now that really hurts. -- Al

Blast. Those bullpen moves didn't work well. The upside for the Mets is they will probably get the Dodger bullpen as Greinke has a high pitch count through 7. Let's hope so, anyway. -- Al

And I spoke way too soon. Leave it to the Dodgers to make me look bad.

What an effin disaster. I didn't like bringing Colon in. I thought that strange. Be that as it may Utley shoukd have been called out. There was no attempt to go for the bag. Tejada's post season is over. Of course, the bullpen, as is their habit, only made it worse.

Looks to be 1-1. Harvey will be up on Monday and he will need to produce the game of his life.

Yeah, the bullpen let this one get away, but it's back to NY and the Mets have the pitching advantage in games 3 & 4. Still think the Mets take this before they have to face Kershaw again, unless he goes on short rest. -- Al
