Baseball 2015 (5 Viewers)

Nothing, really. Just an arcane reference to Eight Men Out, when the WS fix was signified by Eddie Cicotte hitting the first batter. My sense of humor.:redface2: -- Al

Al...I got it...I thought it was funny...^&grin

Ahh, understood.

It's ironic all the attention Tejada has gotten as the organization has tried to marginalize him. He had a good rookie season but a poor second year and they were not happy with his work ethic and have tried to consistently keep him out of their plans. However, like a bad penny he keeps turning up and just won't go away. It probably helped his case this year that he played solid defence, a position in which they're lacking, plus he hit decently since the trade deadline. Flores is not really a ss but does provide more offense. I'm assuming that the ss they called up will go in for defense in the late innings.

Houston this year is the Royals last year, a up and coming team that got hot at the right time.

If this was the old Astrodome, the roof would have blown off on that home run.

Rangers/Astros would be interesting, an all Texas ALCS.

Talk about old school. I didn't realize the Astros were in the AL. I think the last time I watched them they were wearing those rainbow uniforms and Nolan Ryan was pitching.

oooooooooooooh caca!

8-6 now...

they waited too long to pull Harris...

he put them in a really bad spot...

The Astros bullpen gives up 7 runs in two innings; what a dumpster fire.

Just awful.

I hope all those bandwagon Astros fans didn't take the price tags off of those jerseys and hats so they can return them.

And Texas is blowing it too, down 6-zip to the Blue Jays.

Unreal.

And the new Astros stadium also has a roof; who knew?

Boy, the Astros sure fell apart in rapid order. They had the game locked and now they look DOA as the bullpen gives up 7 runs in 2 innings. Ugly. And the other Team from Texas is getting it's ears boxed, as well, down 7-0 in the 3rd. -- Al

The governor of Texas tweeted "Congratulations to the Astros for advancing to the ALCS; hopefully it will be an all Texas event. I'm talking to you Rangers!"

The tweet has since been taken down; I don't know when politicians are going to learn to refrain from commenting on sports in order to pander to Joe couch potato as it's usually an epic fail.

And Mike McGuire, Sammy Souser, Adam Vinterini, Wes Weckler, Vince Wilcox and Gonk all agree..........................

I don't think the Astros can recover from today. There's a reason why the Royals had the best record in the AL.

Rangers aren't looking too hot either. At least they haven't blown a lead. If they lose, they can just chalk it off to one of those days and regroup in Toronto.

I didn't think it would, but it is beginning to look like KC v Toronto. If Texas loses today, I don't like their chances in Game 5. And I agree with Brad, I don't think the Astros can rally from today's collapse. Quite a turn around, because it looked like Astros v Rangers was up. Still, the games have yet to be played. I will concede that Texas isn't DOA yet, regardless of today's outcome, because I'm sure Toronto will start David 'I can't win in post-season' Price in Game 5. -- Al

Kershaw is starting tomorrow on three days rest. His record in post season games on short rest is moderately successful. He's 1-1 and worked 6 innings each time. He beat the Braves in 2013 and only allowed 2 runs. In 2014 he lost to the Cards and allowed 3 runs.

He's probably the best bet for LA despite having only pitched 6 innings each time.

If that is so then I guess if the series gets to Game 5, it will be deGrom against Greinke. That would be a classic. But I don't think it goes 5.:wink2: -- Al

So much for Price in Game 5. He just went 3 innings in relief. Not sure why Toronto burned him in relief with a 5th game coming up, UNLESS they don't figure they can trust him in a 0-0 game, as a start would be. Give him a 7 run lead and let him pitch. Even that was iffy as he gave up 3 runs in 3 innings. Anybody more familiar with Toronto who can explain this decision? I don't get it. -- Al
