That slide was very late, he was on top of the bag, almost past it when he began his slide. The rule as I see it if the runner slides in a way to break up a DP and cannot make contact with the bag, he is out and the DP is automatic, he slid in a way to be able to make contact, he missed it, then he slid, very bang/bang.
Then he broke Tejada's leg in the process, which is extremely unfortunate.
Tejada also missed the bag and they called the runner safe even though he missed the bag as well; the rule is if both miss it, the runner is safe, sort of like the tie goes to the runner. That's a stupid rule for sure.
Also agree it was a head scratcher bringing Colon in; I never like starters being used in relief, especially in the middle of an inning.
Have a friend here who's a Mets fan, he was furious this morning, he said "Can you believe they scored three @#$%^&* runs with two outs!!" and my reply was "Yeah, three runs with two outs, what are the odds; the only thing that would have made it worse was if there was nobody on with two outs, then the Dodgers strung together three hits in a row, a wild pitch and then a little roller up along the bag......................"...............I made him laugh anyway.
It's a series now regardless.................
