Not going to make a lot of noise after a 3 game series but the O's take 2 out of 3 from the Jays!! great series as all games were close, on to KC...Sammy

The Cubs need to make sure he doesn't run out of gas like last year. Of course, I don't mind if he does.

Brad, I think they are trying to keep his innings and pitch count down as he has already been pulled from 2 shutouts he had going. Obviously, they had to let him go to the finish tonight, but I'll bet a hit given up anywhere earlier in the game would have seen him limited to 7-8 innings, shutout or no. I'm just in awe of what this guy is doing, start after start. -- Al

Arrieta just no-hit Cinncy and won 16-0. He's now 4-0 with a 0.87 ERA. Good thing for the Cubs that the O's didn't need him.:rolleyes2: He is off to another great season. He has given up 3 runs in his 4 starts, all in one game. In the other 3 games, he has allowed 7 total hits in 24 innings, and 0 runs. His run since the 2015 All-Star game is historic and unprecedented. He is 18-1 since that break, pitching 139.1 innings, while allowing 72 hits, and has an ERA of 0.77 in those 19 games. UNREAL. -- Al

Those numbers since the All-Star break are insane.

Last night on the Mets broadcast, they were discussing Cincy being no hit and it was the first time they were no hit in approximately 7,900 games (around 43 years). That sounds remarkable but I don't know if it is or not. The team now with the longest no hit streak are the As with around 3,900.

The Chicago Cubs are making good use of 3 Baltimore O's cast-off pitchers. There is Jake Arrieta, 4-0 with a 0.87 ERA; there is Jason Hammel, 3-0 with a 0.75 ERA; and there is relief pitcher Pedro Strop, with 3 holds and a 1.23 ERA. Is the air better in Chcago? The water? The pitching coach? What is it? Sheesh.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Harper is incredible. He got a rest day today. Nats trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th, so Harper was used as a pinch-hitter. On a 3-2 pitch, Harper homered to centerfield to tie the game. Dusty Baker looks like a genius, but Harper is just unbelievable...{eek3} -- Al

Nats finally won this game with a walk-off Hr by Heisey, leading off the bottom of the 16th, 6-5. Twins blew this game several times. They led 4-1 going into the bottom of the 8th, but allowed the Nats to score 2. Twins went into the bottom of the 9th leading 4-3 but let Harper tie them. The Twins then scored a run in the top of the 15th to lead 5-4 but then misplayed a bunt by the pitcher that allowed a baserunner from 2nd to score, and tie the game 5-5. Nats then won with the Hr in the 16th. Long game, 6 hours, but it was worth it. -- Al

Al:

Let's not forget that Heisey was the guy who replaced Harper in the line-up on his day-off. Harper pinch hits the tying HR and Heisey hits the game winning HR, that is great managing, pure luck or a little bit of both.

My regret at the Nats letting Zimm go via FA continues to grow as Zimm continues his outstanding start to the 2016 season. In his 3rd start tonight, he went 6.1 innings and allowed 0 runs, again. He is now 3-0 on the season with an ERA of 0.00. Detroit got a steal of a deal to this point. -- Al
Zimm goes to 4-0 but he finally gave up some runs, 3 in fact, but only 1 was earned, leaving him with an ERA of 0.35 on the season. 4 starts, 26 innings, 1 earned run. Good for him. -- Al

Daniel who? Neal Walker goes deep again for his 8th HR to power the Mets. He's quickly become a fan favorite. The Mets double play combination has been solid.

Brad, me thinks it is going to be a season long battle if this early season is any indication. We'll see what the Nats are really made of starting Friday in St. Loo. -- Al

Yup, it's going to be a two team race Al. Mets have been feasting on not so good teams although Phillies are better this year and Cleveland and the Reds are not terrible teams. Mets have been on a home run binge lately.

Albert hit two HRs last night and has now passed Reggie Jackson for 13th place all time. By the time the season ends he should be in 9th or 10th place. Up next is Palmeiro. Too bad the Angels aren't very good right now.

Mets have 1 more Hr than the O's do. They are swatting pretty good.^&grin -- Al

Trouble is they're not winning games by any other way. This binge can't go on forever.

It hasn't taken long for the Nats offense to crater. Last night, against Phillie and a pitcher they beat up a little while back, the Nats managed 2 hits and 0 runs. The starting lineup included 4 regulars batting below .200 and 2 others batting below .240. This leaves pitching around Harper (.318) and Murphy (.391) an easy thing for the opposition. Nats pitching has been fine but someone besides Harper and Murphy needs to start hitting or the fast start is going to fade pretty fast. Bad timing too, as the Nats hit the road Friday to start a 10 game road trip against the Cards, Royals, and Cubs, 3 teams with good pitching. Could be a long roadtrip.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I told you the Phillies were much better this year. They could be very competitive. They have some good young position players and pitchers.

It has got to be tough to be a Braves or Twins fan as they are 10.5 and 9 games out of first while playing just over 20 games each. Admittedly the Braves are rebuilding and the Twins are young.
