Absolutely unbelievable.............

What a bomb by Hanley, what a meatball that was.

And on the same night that Ortiz passes Mantle.

WOW........................

George, right now, I am on too many meds to care about you, but give me a few hours, and my dislike comments for you and your teams will have some bite and a real purpose to them..^&confuseMichael

Far be it for me to give advice but when your team tanks like it did last night, best to be quiet and just bear it for a few more hours as there is another game today.

First thing I did this AM was to check the west coast scores and was very pleased to see SF gained a game and stayed within striking distance of LA and even gained in the WC standings, as well. :smile2: -- Al

They didn't gain on the Mets, just the Cards. Now that the Cards are down, I'm looking for the Giants to knock them out and the Dodgers to take care of the Giants so we can have the WC home game.

Matz may be on the way back. Good news. That will give us a strong rotation.

I am feeling better about the Giants after last night's game and the wildcard game would be nice but as mentioned in a previous post I do not like the thought of facing the Mets in a one off. Their rotation is shaky, the relief pitching is scary and the offense is beyond inconsistent.

Facing Baumgarner would be no picnic but I think that's will happen.

DeGrom pitches Sunday so that's good.

Best of luck tonight. I have no love for the Cards.

They just announced that Duda will be reinstated Saturday and Lagares tonight. Not a moment too soon.

O's lose 7-6 and let a golden opportunity get away from them because of lousy starting pitching. They still had a chance in the 9th but Trumbo and Davis crapped out with the tying run on 3rd. Oh well. Get them next game.
On the subject of starting pitching, with 16 games left, and all of them important, maybe the O's should consider riding Tillman, Bundy, and Gausman as much as possible. Their choices for a 4 and 5 starter just are not viable at this time. The choices are all disasters: Gallardo is 5-8 with a 5.77 ERA; Jimenez is 7-11 with a 5.98 ERA; Miley is 1-5 with a 8.41 ERA with the O's (8-13, 5.80 overall); Wilson is 4-6 with a 5.42 ERA and Wright is 3-4 with a 5.89 ERA. Go with the Big 3, the only reliable starters they have and maybe Jimenez if a 4th starter absolutely has to be used. The O's can't afford a no-win possibility every 4th and 5th game. It's crunch time. Ride the Big Boys! -- Al
Scratch what I said about using Jimenez if necessary as he has already put the O's in a 4 run hole after only 2 innings tonight. Can him along with Miley and Gallardo and just go with the Big 3. :rolleyes2::mad: -- Al

Thankfully Jimenez's slow start wasn't fatal as the O's overcame the 4-run deficit to notch a 5-4 lead. Thank goodness, because Boston is winning big, so O's will stay just 2 back. -- Al

What a play to throw out the runner at home!!! great come back for the O's, boys don't like to make anything easy that's for sure.

Colon continues to amaze. Won his 14th tonight to lead the Mets in wins. Not bad for a 106 year old.^&grin -- Al

The Giants got another big win last night and almost as important as the win Posey seems to be finding a hitting groove.

Dare I say that a win tonight would mean 3 in a row for the first time since the All-Star break?

The Red Sox beat the MFY's last night, somehow the LET'S GO O'S!!! crawled out of a 4-0 hole to win 5-4; I'm sure Dumbo hit another home run somewhere in there, the guy is as big as a house, he looks more like an NFL linebacker than a baseball player.........................I should put Michael on the case, he'll find out what's really going on there.................

With 15 games to go any team that is more than 3 out in the loss column is effectively eliminated. That leaves Seattle and Detroit (and Detroit looks shaky). Seattle doesn't have an easy schedule the rest of the way (although neither do the Os and the Blue Jays) so jumping over one of those two teams will be tough. Their best chance will be next week when they face the Blue Jays. If they can't sweep them, forget about it!

Cards are starting to drift into dangerous territory. Tonight is a must win for them or they could be 3 GB if Mets win.

After being down 5-2, the Red Sox storm back to win it on a wild pitch, 6-5; Price sucked today, but the bullpen was lights out.

Sweep the leg tomorrow against Sherman Klump and make it a reverse of the infamous "Boston Massacre" in 1978 when the MFY's came into Boston in late September 4 games out and swept the Red Sox and left the city tied for first.

Make it a reverse sweep; regardless, 3 out of 4 is outstanding, two of those wins were soul crushing losses for the Yankees.

Shouldn't have traded away that all world bullpen Cashman......................

Anything they achieved this season was a bonus as it was completely unexpected. They received a passel of prospects for those relievers. Those are trades you would make every day. Moreover, the pennant race experience for some of these young players is invaluable.
