now if Lou's/Mike's Yanks can pull off a win tonite it be a good finish to a good day...Sammy

Yeah, not quite..............fatso pitched well early tonight, but faded and after being up 4-0, the Red Sox roared back to tie it and then Hanley crushed a meatball on a 3-2 count over everything in left, 5-4 Red Sox, the bullpen took from there.

A four game sweep of the MFY's, three games up in the division with 13 games to go.

It's on to Baltimore for a 4 game series vs the LET'S GO O'S!!!!

Keep raking Hanley, keep up the great work bullpen too as the back end is rock solid right now.............I'm off to Chicago on a high note, Patriots are 2-0 after todays win as well.

Outstanding........................

Just read that Mets hold tie breaker over the Giants by virtue of winning the season series so if Mets and Giants are tied for the first WC at end of season, Mets would host the WC game and if they're tied for the second WC, Mets would play Cards in WC game.

Today's game between Giants and Cards decide season series. Possibly important game for the above reasons.

Mets split season series with St. Louis.

The Giants just can't seem to hit a stride (literally and figuratively). 2 big wins followed by 2 disappointing loses. This next series with LA is a true make or break for them.

Well biggest series of the year comes to Camden Yards for the O's, 3 out of first with 4 to play against the Sox, didn't get much help from the Yanks so better make a move in this series now because the season is coming to a close very soon and the O's can not afford not to make up some ground now...Sammy

" My " lets go o's should be able to beat the RS since they are playing in a MLB ballpark and not a Little League field. Some experts figured that there is a 30% plus offensive advantage to the home team at Frenway Park. Their are warnings to the fans in the outfield bleachers only for children to throw visitors HR balls back to the catcher , lest a grownup lobbing it would probably kill the broadcast crew sitting behind home plate..on the fly. Michael

This from a guy who's team won a playoff game here in 1978 when Bucky @#$%ing Dent hit a 300 foot pop up home run with Mickey Rivers corked bat over the left field wall; so no advantage to the visiting team then?

The left field wall takes away as many home runs as it gives, it's a long way to center specifically right center where the triangle is and unless you wrap a ball around the right field foul pole, it's a long way to right field too.

Just ask Ted Williams how many home runs he lost on bombs he hit to right field that were just loud outs.

Keep trolling though, your work in this thread is top shelf.....................

Complaining about the ballpark is like complaining about the weather. The differences in ballparks is one of the things that makes baseball a great sport. Boy, I'll bet you would have been complaining about Ebbetts Field or the Polo Grounds {eek3}

Now don't you boys go putting my O's in your Boston/New York squabble ^&grin but do carry on as it's great comic relief!! but as far as the O's/Sox series I'm feeling good about the first 2 games with Bundy/Gausman pitching, not as much the next 2 with Gallerdo/Ubaldo pitching, wish Showalter would just pitch Tillman in game 4, at this point there's only a few series left for those guys to push through to try and catch the Sox.

The O's should just ride the Big 3 until they assure themselves of a playoff spot. They can't afford a TYPICAL Jimenez/Miley/Gallardo start at this point. Unfortunately, with 13 games left and only 1 day off, it won't be possible, as the Big 3 will start 8 of those games, leaving the other 5 games to one of the 3 Stooges. It will be a close run thing. Now, if it was to rain a couple of times, causing rotation delays, maybe Buck could do something to juggle the Big 3. -- Al

What's the weather back East tonite for the O's game??? heard of rain today??
Sammy, we have had rain in the area all night and it's supposed to hang around all day, calling for up to 2 inches. The rain is moving NE, tracking right over Baltimore. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. -- Al

Bumgarner vs. Kershaw tonight. It almost seems like that should be on a marquis advertising a prize fight.

Have fought all season about saying the "WC" word but looking more likely then the East:mad:...Sammy

Nats are ticking me off, again. Just when they get to the finish line, they've gone to sleep, losing 3 in a row to Atlanta and Miami. What are they planning on doing, backing into the division title instead of reaching out and taking it? They better wake up and start playing winning baseball and establishing some sort of positive momentum for the playoffs. -- Al

Reminds me of the old Boston Braves . . . Spahn and Sain and pray for rain! But the Bosox have looked good recently . . . and with a pretty rough schedule for the past week plus not much relief in the furure.

Arrrgh! SF loses another game in the 9th after leading. This is a killer for SF. I don't know what to say other than this is tragic, but still not fatal (now tied for the second WC spot). They have to find some way to hold a 9th inning lead. They are sure making it hard on themselves. -- Al

Al:

You would think that I would be used to these type of losses by now, but each one hurts more than the last.

Casillas has 9 blown saves, the Giants 29 overall. Contrast with some of the top closers this year: Chapman, 3; Familia, 4; and Melancon, 3. You just can't expect to win that way. Moreover, they have the worst record of any team in the second half.

Cardinals are actually ahead of Giants for second WC by virtue of winning season series.
