Baseball 2016 (2 Viewers)

Mets have clinched at least a tie for a WC so there will be baseball after Sunday.

Bruce has woken up just at the right time and has been very hot this week. As usual, starting pitching has been just good enough and the bullpen has been near perfect lately.

Must be a full moon. Once again, the O's get a great start from one of the 3 Stooges (Jimenez, Miley, and Gallardo). In this case Gallardo with his 2nd straight QS to beat the NYY's 8-1. The O's continue to come up big in the most important games of the year. Take care of business, win your games, and the other teams can't catch you. O's will be sole owners of the #1 WC spot if the current score holds up in the Bos/Tor game, Boston leading 5-3 in the 8th. Go O's! -- Al

2 games left and the WC's aren't settled in either league. 4 teams separated by 2 games in the AL (3 teams within 1 game of the 2nd spot) and 3 teams with 2 games of the spots in the NL. All games still matter for these teams. And rain everywhere. This is a great WC race, for both leagues. Now, if the weather will just co-operate. -- Al

Back to the playoffs! We now await the opponent.

Considering all the injuries this year, it's a heck of an accomplishment.

Looks like it's coming down to tomorrow for Mets opponent. Considering that the Pirates are probably more interested in getting home and LA in getting ready for the Nats, I expect the Giants to be in NY on Wednesday.

Brad:

Congrats on making the playoffs.

No one deserves a playoff spot more than the Mets considering the injuries that the they had to deal with this year.

Well it all comes down to the last game of the year for my O's if they win they are in the wildcard, but there are still so many scenerios in place for 3 or 4 teams I get dizzy just trying to figure them all out!! so one last time for the regular season...Let's go O's!!!!!!!!...Sammy

As Al Davis was famous for saying,"Just win, baby.". O's do that and nothing else matters. Detroit missed a chance so the Birds control their own destiny. I'm just hoping Gausman is sharp on Sunday.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

Nats finally grabbed HFA in the first round. They took their time doing it. They had a well-pitched combo game, getting Roark his 16th win, a career high for him. Now it's time for LA. Will be a tough series for the Nats. -- Al

Thanks Jason. Anything from here on out is gravy. I see the Giants are off to a good start today.

Gausman did it. Pitched the O's into the playoffs. Great season rewarded. ^&grin -- Al

I know the arguments against a relief pitcher winning the Cy Young award, but Zach Britton as the O's closer deserves it. He gave up 3 earned runs in 10 innings in April and then proceeded to give up 1 earned run from May 1 thru Oct. 1, encompassing 57 innings. That's 4 earned runs, all season, in 67 innings, to go with 47 saves with no blown saves on record. His final ERA is 0.54, simply unheard of and unequaled. If those aren't Cy Young Award numbers, then shame on MLB. -- Al

Giants against Mets. Congratulations Jason and Brad. Giants won when they had to and the Mets did an 'amazin' job of overcoming a ravaged-by-injury starting rotation. Both great baseball stories. -- Al

The AL East is great, fun to watch, and they have 3 of the 5 playoff teams. Can't do better than that. -- Al

One last post, (sorry to be so verbose), but the Nats finished the regular season with 95 wins. Today's dogfight against the Marlins gave Max Scherzer his 20th win of the season. He has a great argument for the Cy Young, with a 20-7 record, 284 K's in 228.1 innings, and a fine ERA of 2.96. Nice way to end the regular season. Now waiting for the Dodgers to come in on Friday. -- Al

Just back from the Sox game - what a truly special day. The David Ortiz ceremony was fantastic!

We went to the Patriots game; looks like we made the wrong choice, what a total ****show that was, Rexy won his Super
Bowl, good for him......................it's on to the playoffs vs the Indians, can't wait, nothing like October baseball.

I see the LET'S GO O'S!!! made it too; gee, that's just wonderful...................

The winner of the NL batting championship is DJ "The Wuss" LeMahieu, with a .348 BA. He edged out the remarkable season had by Daniel Murphy who hit .347 for the Nats. "The Wuss" guaranteed his title by sitting out 4 of the last 5 games of the season so that his average wouldn't be endangered by a bad game. What guts, what courage. Congratulations Mr. Wuss, way to back into the title.:rolleyes2: -- Al

A longgggggggggg regular up and down season comes to a close today and my O's are in as a Wildcard!!!!!!!!, I sure wish we were home playing the Tigers but the Orioles just took 2 out of 3 from the Blue jays last week so I guess we got a good a chance as any to win, Tuesday night it is...Sammy

Good luck to all the Wildcard fellows this week, Jason's Giants, Brad's Mets, and of course Al, Chris and my O's, George is already in so he's not sweating like the rest of us :)...Sammy
