A tough pill to take but when you have a lousy bullpen that's what's going to happen.

Jason, go have a few drinks Brother.

He should have rode Moore until his arm fell off; he's a great manager, but that was an awfully quick hook to take Romo out after the Zobrist double, I'd have stuck with him, but who am I to say, the man has won three WS titles, just not their night..............

Sorry Jason, seems like the boys of Summer on the forum are falling everywhere these days!!!...Sammy

Al/Brad/George/Sammy:

Thanks for the kind words. I am just now getting over the shock of it all. I have to hand it to the Cubs, they chipped away in the 9th with single after single. It was baseball's version of death by a thousand cuts. Then Chapman comes in and literally blows the Giants away, that guys throws 100mph like no other.

I will now cheer on Al's Nats and Terry's Jays in the hopes of a Nationals vs. Blue Jays World Series.

I started paying attention to the Giants once the Mets climbed into WC contention and it seemed what happened was not an uncommon occurrence. The problem is that the Giants don't have reliable pitchers to whom they can give the ball in the 8th and 9th like other teams do. As a result, they had to mix and match, with uneven results. It's a problem they're going to need to address in the off season.

Moore had thrown 120 pitches. He was probably done. Asking him to throw 135-140 pitches would probably be too much.

I just read that the Cubs comeback last night was the biggest comeback in post season history since the Mets win against the Astros in 1986. While impressive, last night's game was nothing like the struggle between the Astros and the Mets, a game where either team refused to give in.

Well, back to DC. I hope Scherzer is sharper this time around than he was last Friday. -- Al
It was inevitable, I guess. The whole season down to one game. I really hope that Scherzer is sharp and that the Nats can throw the ghost of playoffs past into the garbage pile. I know it's a from the frying pan into the fire kind of wish, seeing as how the Cubs await, but I'd love to see the Nats get a crack at them, even if we were only 2-5 against the Cubs in regular season. -- Al

I'd love to see them get a shot at the Cubs; plus since they are your team, I'd be pulling for them and would have a rooting interest in the series.

If the Dodgers make it, I'd be rooting for them as they are Doug's team too..................we have to pull for each others teams.............:wink2:

My pessimism meter is hitting the danger zone. In elimination games, Dusty Baker has lost 8 straight games, while Scherzer is 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA in elimination games. I'd surrender now but I'll wait for the game to be played before I do that.:rolleyes2:{sm2} -- Al

Sounds like giant reverse lock to me.

All streaks, winning or losing, end sometime.

Today is just as good an any other day...............

Agreed.

The Giants were 10-0 in elimination games with Bochy as their manager. The key word in that sentence is "were".

This is the reason the Nats signed Scherzer. He has to produce but he can't put too much pressure on himself. A big plus is Murph, who has had phenomenal series against the Dodgers this year and last. I'm sure it will be a masive disappointment if the Nats don't win this series. Of course, you could say that too if you're a Dodger fan like Doug.

Dusty Baker is a former Dodger though. So maybe his bad luck comes from that! It is strange to see him and Davy Lopes who I associate with a jaw full of chew and playing 2b for the LA coaching on the Nats side of this series. The Dodgers have been a major playoff disappointment for decades now. Anything is possible in a one game series but I don't see the Dodgers chances as better than 30-70 on the road. I sound like Lou Holtz talking up Furman before his Irish team puts a 70-0 beating on them but I honestly don't think the Dodgers have what it takes to win out on the road.

Wasn't every team 2-5 against the Cubs this year? ^&grin

The Cubs had a winning record against every team they played except the Rockies (2-4) and the Mets (2-5).

1-0 in the 6th for the Nats, this is baseball at it's best, 2 teams playing their hearts out to move on.

Two pitches that were costly to the Nats. Werth trying to score on a double and then Pederson's HR on the next pitch.
