Baseball - At Last ! (2 Viewers)

There is an actual World Series of sorts being the Baseball World Cup, the most successful country is CUBA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_World_Cup

And purely as a matter of interest, here's a few other World's Best:

Cricket: Australia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICC_Test_Championship

Rugby League: Australia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_League_World_Cup

Rugby Union: Australia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_World_Cup

Modesty forbids me to continue ;) :D
Rugby is a great game. I played it a an intramural level in college. We had a South African coach who never quite adjusted to my style of passing which was a modification of American football's laterals, spiral and all. At any rate it was a killer physically and a whole lot of brutal fun. -- lancer

The Nats are trying my patience only 10 games (they are 1-9) into the season. It is not the loses but how they losing. In each of the last 2 games they have blown ninth inning leads to lose in extra innings. Errors, sloppy play and the obvious lack of a closer are going to make this a long season if these problems aren't addressed. The starting pitchers have done well the last 3 games but their efforts have been wasted and have won just once. Oh well, it is still early but the trends are starting to wear... -- lancer

Rugby is ok, but have you ever played Rugby League which is the most popular team sport in Australia. Rugby League is a physically tougher game than Rugby Union, and Rugby League doesn't have Rugby "mauls" that slow the game to much for Aussie spectators.

Well looks like my Orioles didn't even make a good run to the all-star break!! we had a decent start but absolutely NOOO pitching, your not gonna win many a game giving up 7-10 runs a game!! and 9-16 start were sinking fast, I haven't jumped off my Oriole wagon, but man it gets hard to pull for your team every night when your getting stumped...Sammy

Gee what happened to Big Poppi? Zero homre runs? That's just pitiful.

I feel your pain Sammy, as I too am a Birds fan. To be honest, I'm having more fun watching the Nats, as bad as they are. At least they have some interesting young pitchers and they play with enthusiasm. Orioles are just getting on my nerves with their same old faults. -- lancer

I caught about 5 seconds of the Tampa Bay/Baltimore game. About 90% of the seats were empty. Hard to remember seeing a professional sports event with such low attendance. I wonder how much baseball is hurting this year with the ticket prices, economy, neverending steroids scandal...

Hard to believe the Rays were in the world series last year and can't fill a stadium, but at least my O's finally got a win...Sammy

Attendance seemed really down last night at the MLB games in the east but that is probably the cold, wet weather's fault. Even so, some clubs are not drawing like they would like to. The Nat's claimed 14000+ at last nights game, but that is bunk. Looked more like half that, at best. Again, weather was lousy. Both Nat's and O's won before SMALL crowds. Maybe the owners should pay everyone 150 million big ones, then they could all take the same bus to the poor house.

They had a mob compared to the Pirates game last night: check out the stands after the commercial: http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/clip?id=4138720&categoryid=2521705

Pretty scary shots to say the least. The Sox/Doofin Rays series this past weekend did not produce one sell out. Like Sammy said, they cannot fill that place to save their lives.

Red Sox/Yankee fans filling the place more often than not when both teams played the Doofin Rays is the only thing that saved that team up until now. Never quite understood how a warm weather team plays in a God awful ugly dome of a stadium either.

Would someone please send me a pistol so I can put myself out of my NATIONALS misery - please

Look at it this way, Ron. The Nats 5 year plan is on schedule to be completed in 2015. They have ramped up the offense, are now working on the pitching, and somewhere down the road will teach outfielders how to catch fly balls. You can't rush these things because instant success is just not satisfying (as the O's are well aware of).:D -- Al
