Brad, it's on their website, for what it's worth. -- AlIs that from a reliable source? I have a hard time believing you'd turn down that much money. I understand the Nats because things are a bit unsettled but the Cards? I don't get that.
Watching the Nats Talk Show this AM, where the host spent the week in Nashville at the talks. He spent a great deal of time talking with many in the industry, especially about the recent huge contracts being signed. The consensus amongst the many pundits he talked with is that Bryce Harper is the favorite to sign the first $40 mil per year contract. If this comes to pass, I don't see how this will be in DC. Sounds like this is a NYY/LA/Boston/Cubs type of signing. It will be a sad day in DC. -- AlThat's huge money for Heyward. Nats missed out but it is a good miss at that money. It is insanity. Brad, as you alluded to, Harper will own DC. Lerner's may as well marry him into the family and make him a partner now. I guess the $30 mil a year figure floating around DC is not out of line, after all. Insanity. -- Al
ESPN reporting Johnny Cueto to the SF Giants for $130 mil over 6 years. Actually sounds reasonable by recent standards, on par with Zimmermann's $110 mil for 5 years. -- Al
Jason,I like this move. They now have a great number 1 and number 2 in their rotation that can stay with the best teams. If Matt Cain can come back from his injury then the Giants' are contenders.
Jason,
What's up with Timmy L? Is he coming back with the Giants? -- Al
Too bad, but as they say, "Money talks." Will be hard to see Timmy L in anything but a SF uniform but that's the age we live in. -- AlAl:
It doesn't look like it now. The rotation will probably be Bumgarner, Cueto, Samardzija, Cain, Peavy, and Heston. They might keep him for middle relief but only if the price is right.
Someone else will probably offer him more to be a starter.

I see Grandpa Colon is coming back to the Mets for another season at $7.25 mil. Could be a good deal, although he will be 43 in May. He was the co-leader in wins for the Mets last year with 14. -- Al
No idea on this end, Jason. No real feel for the situation other than the longer it goes, the chances increase that Davis will leave the O's. {sm2} -- AlI think it is a good move. He is still going at 43 and has proven that he can be used as a starter and middle reliever.
I am still wondering what will happen with Chris Davis?

Jason,Al:
The rumor earlier today was the Nats were interested but that talk seems to have died down.
