Chapman deal is on hold or off: domestic violence issues. He and his girlfriend got into an argument, he put his hands around her neck, fired eight shots, police were called and they found her hiding in the bushes. Reds have no comment and LA obviously didn't know.

No Zobrist for Mets. He's gone to Cubs. I'm not that disappointed. Too much for a 34 year old. I'd rather see Howie Kendricks or Murph at 2B.

Nats were after Zobrist, but I don't know why. Nats have plenty of 2b options. So far, everyone the Nats were rumored to be after have signed elsewhere. Curious. I wonder what's going on in DC. -- Al

Just saw the Zobrist stats, $56 mil for 4 years. That's why the Nats didn't get him, too much for too long. -- Al

Please, gentlemen, use your 'golf commentator' voices on here. The Brewer's front office folks are sleeping through the Hot Stove League and I'd really hate to have someone wake them up...

Not sounding good for the O's and C. Davis, as the Blue Jays seem to want to sign him pretty bad, I guess we'll see if a home town discount means much...Sammy

Following up on the no Zo(brist) deal, the Mets have apparently traded Jon Niese to the Pirates for Neal Walker. It's my understanding that the Nats and Angels were in the mix.

Shocker!!!! O's offer 7 yr. 150 mill for Davis!!??? I'm in disbelief that Angalos offering that kind of coin??

That is a huge shocker. Not like Angelos at all. O's biggest contract ever was the one to Adam Jones for $86 mil. This is completely out of character for the O's but is indicative of how badly the O's want to retain Davis. Apparently, the offer has a shelf life and the O's want an answer soon or they will simply move on. The O's don't want to play the Boras waiting game. -- Al

Finally...a trade!!! The Brewers made a trade!!!

Oh wait, it's Adam Lind for three teenage minor league pitchers.

And thus begins the dreaded 'rebuilding' stage...

Speaking more generally about the Brewers' recent moves, Counsell said, "It's going to look different a little bit. It's going to be young players, and I think we're trying to put together a group of young players to come together, and maybe struggle with those guys together, but stick with them and get a good group that we can grow with.

See you in 2017...next year is toast.

The MFY's have traded Wilson to the Tigers for two minor league pitchers.

Wow, so now their vaunted bullpen has been reduced to Miller, Betances and a bunch of tomato cans.

Part of the reasoning for the deal according to Cashman was..........................get this MFY fans; to avoid the 1.5 million bump he was sure to get in arbitration.

Things have certainly changed at Williamsport East; the MFY's unload a very good arm for change they'd find in the sofa cushions in Hal's office.

Yup; George has really left the building and Hal is now in charge.......................and the rest of the AL says "Thank Christ"....................

Pretty good quote from Billy Beane:

“We were right in that Greinke thing until we found out it was actually just one year for $35 million,” Beane cracked of the $206.5 million, six-year deal starter Zack Greinke signed with Arizona. “They said, ‘Thirty, 35 (million),’ and I said, ‘We’re in!’ And they said for one year. Per year. Per annum.”

His team is back to sucking, but at least he hasn't lost his sense of humor; wonder if he wishes he had taken that job as the Red Sox GM, Dombrowski is glad he didn't, so am I.......................

On top of Walker, Mets have signed Asdrubal Cabrera to a two year contract. Good deal.

Beane can be a bit smug and he gets on my nerves sometimes but it is pretty amazing that he can even field a team with a budget of four dollars.

On the other side of the bay the Giants finally acknowledged that they want Heyward but they are not willing to pay him $200 mil.

Offer is up to 7-$168 mil. Sign it already, Chris! -- Al

Not sure about Cabrera. Turns out he has one of the worst ranges of any starting SS. We have that already with Flores so why get another SS like that? ^&confuse

That's insanity; as the saying goes, it's not my money, but he'll be 38 on the back end of that deal and power hitters lose it overnight, hello Mike Napoli as an example.

With Boras as his agent, instead of jumping on that deal, he'll go to the Cardinals to try to squeeze more money out of the Orioles, playing one against the other like he did with the Red Sox and MFY's over horseface.

Understood he's a blood sucking agent and his job is to get the most money for his client, but he's got a stake in it too; you'd think playing somewhere you'd want to play has some meaning, but not with carpet baggers like Boras, it's all about the last penny..............

Whether it actually means anything or not, the O's have said they are not going to play the Boras game. The O's offer is time sensitive and they want a deal done fast, otherwise they want to move on with the money for other needs. For what it's worth.:rolleyes2: -- Al
