He was with the O's for a while until they figured out he wasn't what they needed. Struck out 34 times in 103 AB's.:rolleyes2: -- AlSame old 'effin Mets They've signed some meatball named Alejandro de Aza, to platoon with Lagares. Jesus. Where do I turn in my membership card {eek3}
Mets are after Denard Span. Good ball player, can hit and field. Problem is Darth Boras is the agent... -- Al
After an off-season of wheeling and dealing the Brewers are preparing to roll out their pitching rotation:
#1 - Frank Drebbin - He excelled as an ump...why not let him throw out the first pitch on opening day?
#2 - Cy Young- After so many teams sign pitchers who are almost in the grave, the Brewers become the first to sign someone actually in one! I think he has a couple years left on that arm.
#3 - Richard Simmons - After all those years of working out he's in top shape!
#4 - Peyton Manning - He lost something off his heater, but he throws a mean change-up...every time.
#5 Spuds McKenzie - A sign that the Brewers are willing to make a deal, they get Spuds away from Budweiser and the Cards and make him a Miller dog!
I'm about to start a 'looking forward to 2017' thread...there will be pain in Milwaukee for a while!
Perhaps then they can sign Jean Pierre Paul. After all, they would have something in common :wink2:
Mike Leake signs with St. Loo as another player the Nats were interested in gets away. Beginning to wonder if Nats management is asleep at the wheel. -- Al
Jason,Al:
Maybe the Cardinals know something we don't but $80 mil for 5 years is an over payment. He was terrible on the Giants last year.

Jason,
I saw that but I figured it might be an anomaly based on his stats with Cinncy. At any rate, we still need to replace Zimmermann and Fister with someone.:rolleyes2: Nats just keep swinging and missing this off-season, so far. -- Al
Well, it's official. We're going to stink for a while. I ran across the letter from the Brewers owner to the fans.
The commitment you've demonstrated to the Brewers, I assure you, is equaled by my own commitment to doing better. Each of you deserves that. By doing better, I mean fielding a playoff-competitive team and one day bringing a world championship to Milwaukee. To move toward accomplishing this lofty goal, I believe we need to take a step back and build more intensively from within. Our new General Manager, David Stearns, has been spearheading this approach, which requires grinding things out, prospect by prospect and trade by trade. While we look forward to using his fresh vision to getting our baseball operations to where we want them to be, we are mindful that there is a lot of hard work to do, and we will not take any shortcuts or look for quick fixes.
This is either going to be brilliant in about 4 years...or we'll just cease to be relevant.

Same thing the Nats committed to, with some key trades thrown in, so it should be good news in a few years. It is a method that tries the patience, though.:wink2: -- AlWell, it's official. We're going to stink for a while. I ran across the letter from the Brewers owner to the fans.

Sorry it took me so long to comment on this but I'm just not sure what it means for us. The bat is a definite plus, the fielding not so much, but he is versatile. Should be an overall upside move for us, especially if we can get to the playoffs. Believe it or not, I'm kind of sorry to see a team hero go to a division rival, even though the Mets have one of ours in Clippard. It's just the way things go these days. Welcome to the Nats, Mr. Murphy. -- AlNats have signed Daniel Murphy to a three year contract. Good for them, but especially Murph.
Now it's time to get rid of the Mets garbage owners. See http://deadspin.com/its-time-for-the-mets-garbage-owners-to-go-1749456433
