Taking advantage of a short interlude - I thought I would post a few more finds from the ether.

First up is a nice front page study from 1897. "They're over there Guv!".

Next one to catch my eye was the bottom row in this page (Graphic again) Titled "Drilling the Idlers". Look at the state of some of those!

Last up for me for a bit (Can't post tomorrow - off to Dorset for a meeting!). Another Martin might be interested in this one - as it shows the arrangements for horses and troopers of The Household Cavalry on a Nile Troop-ship. Notice the prison on a lower deck - Priceless! See you later - jb.

Thank you both (Martyn and JohnnyB) for a first rate thread. ^&cool

The Nile campaign has so much potential for sets of Toy Soldiers and accessories and then displaying them.

Hi Jeff. As soon as I saw Martyn's Superb Volumes - I knew that this might end up being a good thread - and possibly a good future resource for anyone who wanted to make models/dioramas/ or just get soldier uniforms right for the future. I had been collecting "interesting" snippets of info - for possible future use on Egyptian soldiers myself - so just joined in. Glad that it's turning out to be of interest to others too.

looks like the books will appear elsewhere too now. Good-oh!

Wasn't that pic of a gun (seen before from Randy[polar Bear]), an absolute beauty? You can see how it's at the front of your boat!
See ya! jb^&grin

I don't think they should bother drilling those "idlers" just stick 'em in the Prison, looks like it was made for them^&grin:salute::

Wouldn't you know that the Household Cavalry would have a hip bath though?:D

Many thanks Jeff glad you are enjoying the thread:salute::

I remembered this picture from a while ago, I think this little steam boat would look great with a Naval crew

A friend of mine made this kit of the African Queen with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn.
