Boating on the River Nile 1884 to 1898 (1 Viewer)

Loved The Black Watch landing - complete with patched trews - and especially some of the cooking pots and pans. I have peeled many a spud into dixies just like the man carrying one in each hand myself - in the past. Only goes to show how if something is "right for the job" - they continue to be used.

That's all I have - are you completed too Martyn? jb

Hi jb

I'm sure I have another picture of the BW in patched trews, perhaps we should start another thread of everyday pictures from the same time period, 1880 1898, published in these two great magazines{bravo}}

I've found about 5 more from THE GRAPHIC that I don't think have been posted yet...still got to go through the ILN July - Dec 1898 ^&grin

I will be travelling back to La France for a spell tomorrow - so will be out of the game until I get back and unpack some more "stash" and the old laptop! - but will watch out for any relevant posts. Good job TS castings are small - and can fit in all of the nooks and crannies in cases.

Lottsa camels in the Graphic (always popular - don't know why - but don't get the hump!) - as well as uniforms of the period - so, of course, will join in (where I can) with anything you post from the illustrious pages of the ILN.

Looking forward to giving a brush a twirl or two soon - and getting twitchy at the prospect!:D

Great pictures Martyn, it just doesn't get any better than GUNBOATS ..... with a few camels sprinkled in here and there for good measure. ^&grin Thanks again to you and jb for sharing these with us.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the Royal Mail and USPS I'm hoping to get some pictures up in the LL section later today you might enjoy. :wink2:

Hopefully we'll find you creating a new Camel ILN and GRAPHIC thread Martyn as you know you can never feature enough camels. I've really enjoyed your Boating on The Nile.
