Living in the wealthiest, most powerful country in the world, all my life, has definitely been a sad downer, no doubt.

It’s terrible being inundated with abundance everywhere you go. I mean I can’t go the grocery store without having to research which of 53 different mustards I prefer. Oh the horror.

I’m well travelled, both domestically and internationally. Yet somehow I still believe America is, by far, the best country in the world - despite our recent invasion by non-assimilating peoples who only want to take advantage of our immense resources and (misplaced) generosity. The US is far from perfect. But we remain the single greatest hope of mankind. Take your shots, make your dispersions, without the US the world is a steaming pile of .

Your thoughts on the tragedy I wholeheartedly agree with. That said I take umbrage to this entire thread and the thoughts put out by a small contingent. Facts are facts and statements are just that. When I’m at someone’s throat you’ll know it. This ain’t it. Besides, where I’m from, the exchange of opposing ideas is neither sad nor degenerate. It’s healthy debate. Only if when ad hominem or straw man attacks occur do I consider the thread debased. Thus far we haven’t seen much of that.
