Mitch,

What I meant in my question kind of ties in with what you said re that things don't seem so hostile around here these days, so I was surprised at how it went off again. We know there was blame on both sides without doubt. When FL arrived some people went over the top in slagging them off, they received a bad reception that they did not deserve. The other side of course is that one or two of their vocal followers clearly set out to bait, rile, wind up whatever we call it K&C fans. Now this is a free forum, we have the right to say whatever we please good or bad about any and not get flack for that honest opinion. But we have to be realistic and accept that no one owns this forum except Shannon and as a result we do have to show consideration for others in a reasonable manner. So my point to you is this , is it not perfectly legitimate to make a point , maybe follow up an answer to your original point and then move on. Would you concede that when someone makes a negative comment on the same thread over and over again, is it not time for that person to show consideration for others and give it a rest. And would you not agree that when some does this ad nauseam its unreasonable and unrealistic to expect the other people on the thread just to sit there and swallow it until said person sees fit to stop. We have the freedom of speech on here , but with that comes a responsibility to consider others.

I also think a shining example of how to switch producers in mid flight in an adult way is Sammy's example. He just stopped collecting K&C and started collecting FL, but with no *****ing, no insults no stupid comments aimed at K&C collectors, he's also done this despite pm's that try to wind him up against K&C collectors.

Just my thoughts Mitch.

He would probably recite his classic WW1 Poem that stands alongside Sassoon or Owen.....

You say if I have spent a truck load of money on one brand and someone critiques it then, its only natural to be defensive. Can you answer me how it seems natural to you???

The person spending the boat load enjoys the product will continue buying won't they regardless of someone saying X is not right or Y is the wrong colour as its their personal like. I find nothing natural in someone going barmy because someone says they dislike a small metal figure or plastic or polystone tank. Just because that type of behaviour is accepted in a toy soldier forum/world by some does not automatically mean its natural, normal or acceptable.

I think you raised an interesting subject as its been at the crux of issues on this forum which have caused many arguments and seen people being banned so, while we focus on the ''what we buy'' it actually gets to the character and personality with all the weaknesses and strengths of the individual who is collecting brand A or Brand B. How they react is more an indication of character strength or weakness from them.

Obviously, nobody really likes to think they have anger/violence issues or a weak character so, they displace blame for that on to the individual/s who attack (in their mind) what they see as perfection in their product and, that is base for arguments and everything that goes with it.

I see a shift in the way the majority accept other people's opinions on what they like and dislike and they accept and want to know the warts and all so, to speak of the products at the prices they are now at. I looked back at a few similar threads like this over the years and everyone bar none I found ended in deletions probably infractions and the rest. That is also rather illuminating.
Mitch

Agree with you {bravo}}

People should be able to post a valid comment based on observable features of a model, compare it to similar models by other manufacturers and even voice personal opinions without fear of being unfairly attacked. Sammy is a good example , and there are many others I know of including myself who's collecting preferences have changed over time who have not made a big issue of it.

Good advise Rob.

However, I'm wondering how you square that with your dreary poses thread from a little while back.

Because I said it once and moved on, I did not say it over and over in an attempt to wind people up. You really appear to have a problem over that don't you Brad?

To be fair Rob you said this all before mate , this forum is about respecting everyone opinion good or bad , you say negative post can be nauseam but so can multiply Ra Ra threads can be just the same if you see what I mean :smile2:

Mitch and The Military Workshop have been removed from this thread due to continued derailing of the discussion to snipe at and fight with each other. Those who choose to use it to bicker between themselves because of deeper or longer-standing interpersonal issues will find themselves joining them shortly.

The topic of brand loyalty is an interesting one and should be able to be discussed in a friendly respectful manner. Many members have chimed in with objective measured posts and that makes for a great discussion without creating unnecessary and unwarranted ill-will. My thanks to those of you who have done so and please, carry on!

Neil, whilst I of course see the point your making, if someone sees a ra ra thread they do not like then they do not have to join in. But that is different to someone who decides to ruin an enjoyable thread someone else has started with the endless and tedious repeating of a criticsm and do this quite deliberately under the guise of free speech.

What I'm trying to say is if someone has a genuine critiscm then start your own thread , don't ruin the enjoyment of others.

Also mate, you pull me up on 'I've said it all before' , but lets be frank, you too have many times stated your views re K&C pricing etc, have you not?? Don't think I ever mention it???

To be fair Rob I've not posted here about K&C pricing and with K&C putting up prices every month it no wonder there is a lot of thread on the subject .

Yes but you pulled me up on here when I stated my views on a thread where there is a link, you have stated your views all over the forum without anyone telling you you are repeating yourself.

Rob,

I don't have a problem at all but you did offer some advice that seems to conflict a little bit with reality. We all have said things that we have come to regret -- and I'm certainly no exception to that -- but from which we learn so maybe we should leave it at that so we don't conflict with Shannon's suggestions.

To fair Rob don't think your post has anything to do with brand loyalty and think Brett has pulled me before and anyone else who say anything wrong with K&C . I'm not having a dig at you mate just giving you a different opinion to your post . :smile2:

Fully agree I certainly do not want to upset Shannon or Pete for that matter. Two people including yourself took swpies at me here, Im fully entitled to stick up fir myself. Oh, one final thing, I do not regret what I wrote.
