Brett Williams (The Military Workshop) (2 Viewers)

What a terrible shock I woke up to this morning, having only just seen this sad news. When I had my brief 3 year stint in Tasmania Brett was my go to for most of my toy soldier needs.

So friendly and helpful digging out old sets for me. We used to talk regularly about life in Britain and its comparison with Oz.

My condolences to his family and friends.

He will be missed by the collecting fraternity.

I cant believe it as well. Its so sudden and sad. I only found out today and like everyone else I am saddened at the loss of such a top bloke and great dealer and feel deeply for his family. Brett has been my dealer for over 10 years and always looked after me. I only visited the shop once, in 2016, so not the current shop. My son is now a medic in the ADF and is posted near the shop and I was so looking forward to coming up for a visit to the shop and a chat in December when i catch up with my son. RIP Brett, I will miss you greatly mate.

.........you're not alone Jason and I'm sure there are plenty of other collectors past and present who are slowly learning of this sad news via social media and word of mouth right across Oz and throughout the TS community......
 
Gerelou and family have advised that Brett's funeral will be on the 12/11 at St Bernards Church 12.30pm Burial at Mt Gravatt Cemetary 1.45-2 pm with wakje at Sunnybank Community Centre 2pm - 6.30 pm

Thanks for posting the details Mark. I spoke with Gerelou this morning and I think she is holding-up well given Brett's death and the many challenges ahead. But I didn't check the address of St. Bernard's Church. Is it at Klumpp Road Upper Mt. Gravatt? Kind regards, Rob
 
Hi There, Brett's funeral is today at 12:30pm (Tuesday 12th November 2024). At this stage I'm unsure if the service will be live streamed, however tributes can be left at this location via the below link for anyone interested.

Just now saw this thread. Didn't know Brett but am saddened to hear the loss of such a stalwart supporter of the TS world and will miss his excellent postings. RIP
 
Just saw this and really sorry to hear. I enjoyed my overseas emails with Brett periodically, I always appreciate someone who makes no bones about his viewpoint, it is refreshing. What a shock.

Brett got me into this hobby about 8 years ago.I always looked forward to visiting his shop and buying a figure or 5 on a Saturday morning.Whilst looking around his shop at the displays I would be talking to Brett about some aspect of military history, he had a great broad knowledge and I always left his shop in a good mood after speaking to him. You will be missed Brett! Condolences to the family

Hello collectors, Sorry, I've been out of the scene for sometime as I grapple with health issues, but nothing is more heart wrenching than coming here today to read that Brett has passed away. My belated condolences to his family and friends. I've known Brett since my days posted to Enoggera Army Camp back in 1999. Up until early this year we were in correspondence and Brett sending me JJD figurines on the Battle of Cowpen series. RIP Brett, my friend. I'll see you real soon.
 
Wow.. I cannot believe it either. I've just logged on here to get an update after many many weeks of not doing so only to learn of this news. Like most of you I visited Brett in his shop from time to time but not as often as I wanted to being down on the Gold Coast. I never even pictured a day when we wouldn't have Brett around, his passing will leave a huge gap her in the Australian market. I will remember fondly the vigorous discussions we had of all things Napoleonic and how he would try and get me to order the whole of a new Napoleonic release while simultaneously trying to convince me to release my scrawny vise-like grip on some of my older more sought after K&C figures to other collectors. I should have listened to him more...

Brett's sudden passing has hit all of us pretty hard. This threads been a great place to reflect and share, so thank you for sharing......
